I hope they're restrained in re-using jokes and catchphrases, like "I like it aluh" and the breath spray. Other than that it looks... pretty funny. Kind of more of the same, but that can be good.

I got two good laughs out of the trailer, which is good as im a miserable gently caress. Count me in for it. Although Jim Carrey looks a little odd, as if he's had some work done round the eyes.

I can't believe this is actually a thing. I'll definitely see it, since I loved the first one back in the day, but the Farrelly's haven't done much good in a long time, so I don't have high expectations.

Yeah I had this impression too, there's just something about the way it looks which was a bit off. Still happy to see it though, Carey always sells the hell out of any movie, guy is a nutter.

God help me I saw the prequel, so I'll see this for sure. I'll agree that I didn't like the callback jokes, and Carey looks sort of weird, but I still think it'll be worth a few laughs.

Grandma fisting alone will get me in the theater. I can just imagine the poo poo they will put in the movie that they cannot show.

Recently watched the uncensored director's cut of the original, and it's pretty much Jim Carrey's greatest work. And I really hope they key in on the cut parts, because the darkness in those really grounds the whole film in a way that the theatrical cut doesn't really seem to pull off. I hope Carrey went back because of the script and not the money.

Upon rewatch, Farrelly brothers movies often strike me as edited to a degree where certain scenes don't make sense anymore. I get the feeling that's because they film too much, especially stuff that has to be cut for the rating. There's Something About Mary has Jeffry Tambor's character who is necessary to the plot (he helps Matt Dillon fake a phone conversation meant for Mary to overhear), but he's barely introduced. Me, Myself and Irene grabs for the awkward narrator voice at all sorts of odd times to gloss over scenes that would otherwise need to be longer. It's not that noticeable as long as the jokes are solid, but I would like it if they tie things together a bit better this time.

The Farrelly Brothers are overdue for a good movie. It has been 16 years since Something About Mary.

I would have no trouble buying into that trailer if Harry and Lloyd didn't look so goddamn creepy. It's all in the outfits/haircuts. They could get away with that look 20 years ago because that was the joke. 20 years later, that's still the joke but now it makes my skin crawl.

That's how you do a trailer for a November comedy. Also, I'd really like to see the numbers on which movie cost more. For those who want a Dumb and Dumber sequel - watch 30 Minutes or Less. That's what the premise for Dumb and Dumber To should have been.

I don't know how I feel about this. Kind of a funny trailer, but so many jokes that depend on the first one. After 20 years, if you can't make a sequel that wouldn't stand on its own why bother? Other than a giant pile of money, which isn't a reason I watch movies.

It's true, Lloyd shouldn't have the competence to do that, but it's a pretty good gag to bridge the 20 year gap between movies.

In this trailer that seems to have gone out the window in favor of a world where old women have dusty vaginas. Also it's rated R so the Farrellys can make it as weird and gross as they like, and if you ever see the uncut edition of Dumb and Dumber it becomes obvious that's not such a good idea.

Exactly. It's like Dumb and Dumber continued as a television show we never saw, and now we're in season eight, where all characters have been Flanderized. Blah blah Scrubs joke.

I've never seen a movie with the removal of some scenes completely changes the dynmaic of the movie. Every scene just feels "off". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpUgZmAo594 (extended/deleted scenes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm3iwINTF90 (extended scene) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mum5LIqQzAs (deleted storyline) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCVWyMKeJ1w (deleted scene) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i2Y7xiiUUI (deleted/alternate ending) None of these scenes are funny- and don't fit with the final product. Now that the Farrelleys have carte blanche- no one is telling them right from wrong- and they're surrounded by a bunch of yes men. Tightening up really saved Dumb and Dumber- so they had people giving them advice. Rewatching the Dumb and Dumberer trailer- that movie almost understands the characters better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i2Y7xiiUUI CaptainHollywood fucked around with this message at 09:17 on Jun 13, 2014 |

I love the original to death and I can't believe it's 20 years old. I also can't believe they're doing a sequel with both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels returning. I can't help but admire it, in the same way as if Bill & Ted 3 were to happen. I thought most of the trailer was just lame gross-out jokes, and Jim Carrey looks super loving weird playing the character at this age, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to see it. Did Carrey's character have that stupid lisp in the original? I feel like he didn't, and if he did, it wasn't that exaggerated. I was really excited and then the trailer started and my hopes and dreams were crushed. The joke with the dusty vagina was one of the lamest attempts at comedy I've seen recently. Dumb, and not in a funny way, just dumb.
