teething pain can be super frustrating. the only things you can do for it are chew toys (frequently rejected), benzocaine (too strong), homeopathic gels (lol), and maybe things like clove oil (not available in your city). so I'm not surprised some people get desperate

So 2 weeks ago i made a post looking for antibiotics for a massive tooth infection in my mouth. I was getting ready to score some pakistani bootleg meds until a few people suggested i go to the pet store and grab some FISH PENN FORTE 500mg Penicillin. It turned it to a huge debate on how risky it was. Someone was convinced i was going to grow gills. A few people thought i was gunna die but it the end everything worked fine!

I had a massive abcess along with the infection so 2 days after starting my fish meds i watched a youtube video on how to drain the abcess. Got myself a sterile razor blade and put a nice long cut in to my gum and holy gently caress did it feel good. Drained that poo poo and continued my fish meds and my mouth is good as loving new. Got my incurance straightened out so i.ll be getting it pulled next week. Wanted to say thanks to all my DNM friends. gently caress the system. Source it yourself!

The problem is that the terminology bitcoin uses is misleading. It is a type of skeumorph that I think does more harm than good. We talk about "coins" and "wallets" so the natural thought is that you have coins in your wallet and if you lose your wallet your coins are gone. Or I send you coins and they can get "lost in the mail" between me and you. But that's not really what is going on at all.

it illustrates the futility of both using bitcoin for everyday transactions, as well as being a bitcoiner. skinny dude is all jazzed that they are the enlightened ones, evangelists of the bitcoin gospel. but chubby dude is more of a utilitarian, and knows that the world will not accept this radical new idea just because they tell them about it. so he orders a beer, using dirty fiat, and is a little annoyed at how easy things are when you don't have to scan six QR codes and wait an hour. then the thought occurs to him that the smoking hot bartender might not listen to him precisely because he is a chubby bitcoiner, and he furrows his brow

Possible scammers on Mycelium local trader. (self.Bitcoin)

submitted 30 minutes ago * by bitpimping

Not really sure if these are people trying to scam or not. For the first time ever the other day I got a few buyers that quickly cancelled their orders.

Then tonight I get one lady that supposedly lives a few hundred miles from me, acting like she didn't know what she was doing etc. She said she needed to place an ad and it was a dollar. I sent her a couple bucks and told her how to use it etc. She thanked me etc.

Right after, another lady messages me... from the same exact city supposedly, saying she needs to learn about Bitcoin. How does it work? What is it? Needs to place a dollar ad... was surprised i knew about backpage etc.

I haven't sent her any, but just telling everyone to be cautious. These could very well be real people but you never know.

edit to add: Here is the transaction I sent. Looks like that address was swept. Kinda strange for an inexperienced person but oh well. https://blockchain.info/address/127ud47TWskwvVGXqN3bpoxi9WN1CMFzCG

I'm morally conflicted (self.Bitcoin)

submitted 2 minutes ago by token_dave

So for the past few days, I've been selling bitcoin to dozens of backpage users. I never asked too many questions, but many of the payments were coming from males (I'm accepting PayPal, so there are names associated with their accounts).

I got into a conversation with one buyer today who essentially revealed to me the fact that he is a pimp, and posts backpage listings to get work for his girls.

It dawned on me that I'm probably enabling human trafficking. I'm pretty much a moral nihilist, and I'm also a libertarian, but my moral intuitions caused me to take pause for a moment at this thought.

Sure, I guess these people would get bitcoin regardless, but it does make you think for just a second about the reality of the darker side of bitcoin that's commonly overblown by the media, but still very real.

The current site text makes repeated mention of Bitcoin providing low transaction fees and instant transactions, as well as strongly implying that any transaction paying a fee or having medium priority will be confirmed in the next block.

As instant transactions can be unsafe and the other things are less likely to be true in as available block space becomes fully utilized, this pull removes or clarifies those sections.
