BeastOfExmoor posted:App sales lists a bunch of Black Friday app sales. The only big time one I saw was Poweramp unlocker for $0.99. I bought it even though I already own Shuttle+ (sale a few weeks back) and actually typically use Rocket Player (for the integration with iSyncr), but $0.99 of Google survey rewards is a no-brainer. That was 10p a few days ago too

So I recently moved over to android after years on iOS (I got a 5X), and I was wondering if someone could refer to me to some apps for the following uses. Package/Delivery Tracking: It's christmas shopping time, so this is definitely a thing I need soon. Something to feed tracking/order numbers to so I can keep an eye on where everything is. This is what I used to use on iOS, and something as similar as possible would be great. That app would provide push notifications, read entries off the clipboard, and could also take amazon order numbers so you could feed it to them as soon as you placed the order. Something as similar to this would be awesome. Todo.txt: A TODO.txt app that can easily sync between my PC and my phone.

I use Deliveries Package Tracker which does all the things you are looking for AFAIK. I'm a paid subscriber so I can have it connected to my Amazon account and automatically pull orders. AfterShip is another option, more minimal and much less customization but works well all the same. TODO.txt has an Android version but I'd personally use Google Keep for something like that. If you use Google Inbox instead of Gmail it's really good at pulling out orders and shipping notifications into a category and giving you icons with arrival dates and a simple tracking link.

I am looking for an app that will let me catalog my blu rays and ps4 games. I used to use the goon-made Shelves app but I think it was abandoned. Paid is fine as I have plenty of google fun bucks. I would just use a google docs but I want to be able to scan barcodes.

Is there a way to streamline the menus or gesture to them directly? At this point in my life I just go between car mode player, playlist, downloaded episodes, and subscribed podcasts. I'll try, but the best I can do is try to describe my workflow, I think. I stay on top of ~30 podcast subscriptions over a week, and PA has been the only thing that lets me manage that. To me, that's because I have it set up so I really only have to refer to the playlist and home screen widget. It does have a lot of menus, but the most important one is the Settings that you access from the main Podcasts page. (Also, you can bring the left navigation drawer up with a left edge swipe in from anywhere, if you didn't know. That main Settings button is available there as well.) From that Settings I get PA working the way I want: it checks for podcasts once a day; downloads the latest episodes, and automatically adds them to the playlist. Automatic cleanup is on so that when I finish an episode, it is removed from the playlist and goes in the trash for a day before being deleted. After that, there are a couple of shows I have individual custom override settings for, like telling Science Friday to download the 3 most recent episodes instead of 1 so that it picks up both one hour shows every week and so forth. That's it, basically, as a consumption system it fits me like a glove. I check my playlist in the morning to see what's new and shuffle things around as the day goes. e: I'll also just mention that the original thing that got me using Podcast Addict was buying archives of Hardcore History; the link for old episodes wouldn't work in BeyondPod or PocketCasts, only iTunes or Podcast Addict would handle it correctly. That really forced me to start using PA and a great love was born. That was in April, I don't know if the competition has fixed that issue yet, but I do know that PA has gotten regular development with new useful features over that time. It gave me a couple of ideas that I can try, especially if it's got a delay before deleting option. I stopped using automatic deletion because I would fall asleep or forget something was playing and then get frustrated having to redownload it later but that would be a great way to get back into automated stuff. Thanks!

I use Pocket Casts and Podcast Addict. I use PC for things that I'm caught up on and listen to as episodes come out and I use Podcast Addict for when I'm powering through the archives of a podcast because it seems to be impossible to listen to all episodes of a podcast from oldest to newest in PC.

I seriously think it's me and one other person that uses BeyondPod, but I love it and can't see myself switching anytime soon. Pocket Casts is nice, but lacks some of the options that I've gotten used to. Podcast Addict is nice and would be the most likely to take the top slot, but I'm admittedly so used to BeypndPod that it's not worth switching.

OK, so we know that ES File Explorer is now garbage. What's a good replacement? I don't care about root, because I'm not rooted, and I don't care about material design, because I find it ugly. Also, webcast apps. Pfft! I don't have anything to do with webcasts.

Can Solid Explorer (or any alternative) transfer files from one device to another via WiFi like ES can? I'm ready to ditch it, but I've found that feature pretty handy. I know PushBullet can handle smaller files, but it's nice to have a way to move larger ones.

Thinking about it, I don't know if airdroid supports device to device transfers since I've never tried.

Just started playing with AwSMS. I've been a huge Messenger (Google's SMS) fan because it color codes my contacts which makes following group MMS much easier. This not only does that but has a ton of options for customizing text formatting and size. Still missing a bunch of features as it is in Beta, but you can make it visually dense, its seems to be very fast, and it uses the system SMS database, so backup and sync systems just work.

Is there anyone else who uses (Root) Explorer and has successfully set up an SMB share? It worked fine with EStrongs and was pretty easy, but I can't get Root Explorer to find the server. I put in the IP and my login information but it only shows "parent folder". Edit: it works if I add @gmail.com to my username, since that's my Microsoft ID username; it just took longer than I was expecting. hooah fucked around with this message at 16:01 on Nov 30, 2015 |
