I did it, I got him: I brought him sushi on his birthday and then we played D&D with his friend and I helped him out and we won the game then I bought him flowers and he said yes and now he wants to learn how to cook someone mod in a way to date linus the strange mountain hobo who is secretly some sort of ascetic nature guru or something he gets really interesting to talk to the more hearts you get and he seems to know the wizard

Because that means I've thrown literally hundreds of coal away and could have much better farm tech.

Khorne posted:What makes coal fo rrecycling? Have I really been throwing away coal? Coal is such a pain in the rear end to get. Follow tracks in the mines, it'll lead you to a mine cart which you can use for 6-9 bits of coal. Mid way through the mine you'll fine some fuzzy mother fuckers who want to touch you and get hella dizzy. They drop coal reliably. You can also simply buy it once you get really going. 100 each is a little expensive, though. dmboogie posted:Who the heck is Dwarf and why is his birthday on the calendar? After you have the bare bone basics (you have to use a hoe to till soil before planting, plants only grow on the days they get water, use this tool to get rid of this thing) the game just sort of works. You're not going to play optimally of course, and if you are a perfectionist you're probably going to restart a couple of times once you get the hang of particulars, but that's true even if you've played a dozen HM games. given the 8 tile requirements wouldn't the best fruit tree layout actually be: (where 0 is space, x is fruit tree) code:

Friends, please don't worry about being frustrated with the game. It is not that kind of game. There's literally no fail state. Just get it and make your little farm, and post here if you can't figure out how to do a thing you want to do. I can't wait for online co-op. My buddy and I are going to relax so hard. edit: UNOPTIMIZED PROBABLY I love those little stone paths.

Do characters actually still go about their lives after you marry them, or is this one of the many Harvest Moon clones where characters lose all personality and become stay-at-home zombies after you marry them?

busb posted:given the 8 tile requirements wouldn't the best fruit tree layout actually be: (where 0 is space, x is fruit tree) The tile has to be empty, it isn't actually "used." For lumber trees this doesn't even reaaaaally matter, as being adjacent just stops a sapling from growing, leaving you with a half+-grown sapling until you cut the other one down, meaning the downtime is theortically less. Fruit trees aren't going to be cut down, however. Now, making it more spaced out might let you see if there's actually fruit to be had, maybe, but I haven't gotten to fruit trees yet because it's gently caress off expensive.

You don't give him the copper, you have to mine the copper after you accept the quest, mine 35 pieces of copper, and then talk to him. Wiley's fishing quests work the same way. Unintuitive, yeah.
