Thank you all for the encouragement! I looked at the BL application, I may make an attempt at it, but I'll have to think about what kind of story I should write for it. I doubt they'd be interested in publishing Doc Eldar. Annointed: It wasn't actually a reference to Ynnead, sorry. The phrase "eldarith ynneas" is apparently the Eldar term for the Dark Eldar, and since one of my rules for writing these pieces is that the terms "Eldar" or "Dark Eldar" can never be used outside of Doc Eldar's pseudonym, I picked that one so the inquisitor would have some way to refer to him. Pistol_Pete: I could certainly do more Inquisition pieces, but I currently don't have an idea to work with as far as what they might do, and I don't want to do too many stories in a row that get away from the core theme of being a ship's trauma surgeon. I actually broke one of my guidelines (not a hard-and-fast rule) about having weapons used "on camera" during story #9, and that's why no-one actually does any shooting in #10, I didn't want to make it routine. If you, or anyone else, has ideas for storylines you'd like to see me take on, by all means, I welcome suggestions!

Something involving hive gangers, if you could come up with a creative bent for them other than just 80s hair metal cultists.

I've always wanted to read a story about a Deathwatch killteam that's less bolterporn and more about space marines from vastly different Chapters trying to mesh together. A Salamander under the command of an Iron Hand, alongside a Dark Angel and a Space Wolf, maybe a Black Templar "cover is for cowards" zealot and a Raven Lord of the "frontal attacks are for idiots" stripe, that kind of thing.

It's already been done. It might have been something in Inferno, but I remember a couple stories about Kill Team members and their friction. This is what makes Deathwatch a cool roleplaying setting. Especially fun is a Black Templar "suffer not the witch to live" on a squad with a Librarian. Its Jerry Springer. Although I've heard that GW kinda retconned that a bit and now its just that Templars don't have Librarians and not so much that they absolutely hate them? That's... just wrong. This is also why I favor Deathwatch over Black Crusade, because the Chaos don't really have a deathwatch equivalent to excuse having a bunch of chapters with different backgrounds and styles mixed together. I guess you could say its one army and they have some token Berzerkers and Thousand Sons, but not quite the same.

You guys should watch the hive fleet behemoth videos by eliphas the inheritor on YouTube. They feature some very jaded deathwatch marines. Fun watch unless you're one of those guys who dislikes the text to speech emperor videos

Also you should apply to that contest regardless of the story you put in, Doc Eldar or your Inquisitor.

Got my first Black Library book, Necronomicon. There's a lot of sleep-blanket, electrolyte-fluid, siren-alarm kind of talk but it's not bad. I mean somebody seriously used the words shroud-cloth.

Eisenhorn premium limited edition touted in the latest BL mailer, looks like pretty decent quality boxed set. $75 doesn't sound terrible, and it doesn't have awful logos slathered on it

I abandoned Necropolis for now as I got my hands on Eisehorn: Xenos I'm 117 pages in and it's great. The description of the crew, the gun-cutter, and the Essene kind of makes me wish there was a WH40K game in the style of FTL. "You're Eisenhorn," he said. Very well written. Ravenor is good too after you finish the Trilogy. Klaus88 posted:This looks perfect. Or at least what 40k fans have been screaming for since 40k video games have been a thing. I'd absolutely love a Mass Effect-esque Eisenhorn game but it looks pretty clunky, and definitely like the iPad game it was made to be. That being said I just beat the mobile Deathwatch game, and it was like diet XCOM. I really dug it. That's good to hear, all the steam reviews were brutal so I held off on trying it. Although between DoW2, Bloodbowl, Battlefleet Gothic Armada, Endless Crusade, and others I've kinda got enough warham PC games at the moment. I would think the ideal Eisenhorn game would be a reskin of KOTOR. Have your full retinue with you which have different abilities you can command, have multiple planets you can hop between so you get that galactic campaign feeling of hunting dirty xenos and hereticus across planet after planet, some cool dialogue options and stuff like that. "Eisenhorn, do you rescue your partner or do you continue to pursue your foe at all costs?" If you could actually work Chaos Corruption into the game as the 'morality system' and have increasing power for Eisenhorn as you give in but changing his appearance and dialgoue would be pretty sweet too. Or for that matter it could be a Puritan / Amalathianism vs Radical thing too.
