The "you ain't a Muslim" tax gets quoted as Muslim religious persecution of others in the past but it was also tied up in the fact that Muslims could serve in Islamic militaries but non-Muslims couldn't. It was a sort of "hey you can't serve but we're keeping you safe so give us some gold, tia" tax.

Considering what Christians tended to do to non-Christians that's pretty drat mild. That was "hey guys we don't give a poo poo if you not Muslim people want to live here and do your thing but pay us some taxes because we're keeping bandits away from your temples, arright?"

There is also the factor of Islamic states not trusting non-Muslims to be effective soldiers, particularly in cases where they might be fighting others who shared their religion. They didn't want Christians in the military, and capitalized economically instead. It wasn't purely altruistic.

Also even discounting what Christians did to non-Christians, we can look at what Christians did to the wrong kind of Christian. Syrian Miaphysites and Egyptian Copts put up no resistance to the Arab invasions because paying Jizya was far preferable to facing persecution, torture and execution just for minor differences in belief about the nature of Christ. Muslim religious persecution had nothing on Christian religious persecution in the middle ages.

That sort of true, but then you have pretty big counter examples like the Ottoman Empire's Janissaries who were explicitly Christian slaves trained to be the most elite troops in the empire.

And despite Islam being historically pretty nice to other Abrahamic religions you didn't want to be a Zoroastrian in a Muslim country. History is complicated and hosed up.

I really gotta disagree. The complaint with the first pose is that it was generic, didn't fit the characters personality, and had a huge well defined butt as the center piece of the pose. When basically every female character in gaming since forever just exists to show off tits and rear end, it can be annoying for someone to have a female character who is mostly not sexualized have some lazy bit of character work like the original pose. Blizzard changed it to a more dynamic pose that is no longer just showing off a big rear end crack. I don't think they trolled anyone. Most people trolled themselves into oblivion because they are stupid shitheads that think 'SJWs' & 'censorship' are ruining games.

The bigger issue with the 'controversy' is that a bunch of dudes have made media their like last stand against what they view of as content creators shrinking desire to cater to their every whim and so view constructive criticism & feedback as censorship and outrage.

The new pose is better for a number of reasons; it's more dynamic, fits the established personality better, and is a fairly classy artistic reference rather than "here is an rear end, please enjoy it."
