Hey so you know how the right turned Trayvon Martin from a 17 year old 158 pound kid into a hulking drug addict gang member who was totally a more violent person than Zimmerman? They're starting that process on Philando Castile now. http://www.snopes.com/tag/philando-castile/ I just heard today from my usual suspect racist coworkers about his 50 some odd traffic stops as if that was evidence of him being violent, as opposed to a victim of driving while black.

I have to post this before it slips my mind. I caught a minute or two of Rush today and he was in "only asking questions" mode. He said "something like "someone, somewhere is benefiting from this division in society", implying, as he does, that it's all part of the Democratic Party's plan and Obama's agenda. He asked "how's he doing?" referring to Obama and his promise and attempts at unifying people, somehow completely forgetting that from Day One Rush himself was the rear end in a top hat saying he "I hope he FAILS" and the long line of Republican congressman who have obstructed everything Obama has ever tried to do and cast aspersions relating to his character. Gee, Rush, I wonder who's benefiting from all this poo poo? Let me think. Hmmm... Considering I turned on his show (someone who can't stand him) just to see how he would frame these recent tragedies and count the hoops he'd have to jump through and thus added to his ratings. I wonder, if somehow, it's people like Rush Limbaugh who just maybe might be benefiting from all this crap? It certainly crossed my mind. Sarcasm aside, you can absolutely tell that Limbaugh is loving LOVING this poo poo. What a terrible, terrible person. He's like someone who gathers up water, food, gas, diapers, aspirin or baby formula after a tornado, a flood or a hurricane , sells it all at a 500% mark up on the side of the highway and then feels good about himself. You can't unify people who do not believe in unity. I think the GOP absolutely poo poo their pants at Obama's resonating message, his populist message and certainly his election. I doubt it ever even crossed their minds that a black person could ever win a national election. They were so concerned about Hillary before 2008, that when Obama came in and stole her thunder - so fast and with rhetoric that really resonated with people - I really believe it was such a shock to their collective system(s) that they honestly didn't know what the gently caress to make of it and that led to their doubling down and weird "Muslim Socialist Kenyan Birth Certificate" stuff. Like most things in modern society, conservatives always seem to be the last to know or learn ANYTHING and have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the realm of change and social progress. It's like the 50 or 60 year old guy who's discovering why human being and tranny jokes are no longer acceptable in modern public discourse.

Platforms mean nothing. No candidate is ever beholden to them, most of them profess to have never read them, the entire platform committee process for both parties is just a place to dump fervent ideologues and get them to spend time arguing over a worthless document instead of causing real problems somewhere important, and to make them feel important and influential. Platform committee planks are also nice runner-up prizes/fig leaves for losing candidates to present to their supporters so they'll get on board with the winning candidate.

I think he's saying that Europe doesn't flip their collective poo poo over the sight of a naked lady like the US does and seem to take it in stride but has a different approach to violence and guns. For instance, in the way cops in the UK and France aren't even armed. It's not a fresh or a new observation. Diane Rheem had a guest on just discussing this today. In short, the US seems to have a real issue with sex but glorifies violence. For example, see the stuff the US allows on TV: brains blown out, blood everywhere, guns but censors titties and "bad" words. I believe the two things are connected and affect societal norms (sex bad. violence good). Just about any culture that demonizes sex seems to have issues with violent citizens.

These people would make Limbaugh and O'Reilly seem like they'd be far left. That's how insane and horrible these people are. I'm deeply ashamed that they get to hide behind the legacy of "tolerance" that such men like MLK Jr. and others really built as a reputation of our faith. These are not the men and women that marched with Dr. King through Selma. These were the people waiting on the other side looking to heckle and beat them on the other side of the bridge. More than anything, the job of many liberal and even just socially liberal christians is to make sure these people have no ability to have any sort of influence in our society.

Yeah I'm reasonably sure the majority of the alt-right and Trump supporters have no urge to ban pornography or make teaching the bible part of the US history curriculum. They may hate women and minorities, but they aren't for the fun hating aspects of social conservatism that the Christian right likes to promote. On the other hand making it harder to prosecute sexual assault and rape is something they aggressively support.
