(without sound like a Tool fan I don't like 99% of this music) sometimes it has a great rhythm, but mostly people have different tastes and like the chaotic fast beats and heavy sounds that genres like grindcore provide. if you break it down and listen to some of the instruments separately some bands either intentionally or unintentionally borrow a lot of jazz scales also some people like to be grimdark mbt fucked around with this message at 17:37 on Aug 19, 2016 |

Remember when singles were a certain length as a result of the length of a 45 record? Now people can make songs shorter or longer since it's not the 70s.

Wire's a good source of short songs, for sure. For whatever reason, Wire reminded me of the Minutemen, who also have a bunch of short songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AB2xvXlNPt8 Minutemen--Do You Want New Wave or Do You Want the Truth? Great title for a song, not sure I get what it's supposed to be about, but the album is solid. Mclusky's interesting, here's another short one from them with a funny video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgkzRE89Gyw McLusky--Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues "I'm aching from loving too much" I think my favorite Dead Milkmen song is Stuart, but it's a bit too long for this thread. I just like the manic character that keeps asking "Do you know what the queers are doing to the soil!?" I dig that NIN track--reminds me of a heavier little Brian Eno sketch. I think I had that Fat Wreck Chords album back in the day...beside the $5 comps like Physical Fatness and the Give 'em the Boot ones and the Punk o Ramas. There's probably some decent short songs out of the 100 on the disc. I bothered looking up the AFI song--it has funny lyrics, and I get that the delivery is part of the humor, but I think the lyrics would work better if they just made a fun song about Key Lime Pie and didn't make it so hardcore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOaVkOUwFzg Radio Birdman--Burn My Eyes Somehow I only just heard about this group--they have an awesome early punk sound (which makes sense, since they recorded in the 70s), highly recommended if you like New York Doll type tunes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFeS0VstOdE The Replacements--I Hate Music "I hate music Sometimes I don't I hate music It's got too many notes"

Anal oval office purposely put out lovely songs. The more fans they got, the more they changed up the formula to drive those fans away. Edit: actually Seth Putnam did lend his voice to some pantera songs.

Really surprised that despite the thread title and mention of Fat Wreck, nobody's posted the album Short Music For Short People. Comp album from 1999 with 101 songs of 30 seconds or less each, largely by pretty famous punk rock outfits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW6ykueIhX8 Wikipedia posted:1.
