atomicthumbs posted:My dad is in the process of buying a house. The inspection report just came in As a ham you should know how important it is to ground your equipment to an earth ground composed of ramming multiple 6ft copper poles into the dirt even if that means running an extension cord from the ground to your shack But seriously, I can see something like that happening, and it wouldn't be as bad as the alternative explanations for that plug. To all the non-hams: grounding high power radio equipment isn't as simple as plugging it into the socket, unfortunately. It's a helluva lot more complicated than I can describe but it does usually involve driving multiple ground stakes and wiring it up haphazardly.

Do hams ever water the ground before a session to increase ground effectiveness?

Do we have a 'Hey is my home falling apart?' thread? That window keeps getting mold on it, except this time when I was scrubbing it out the bristles went through the corner. Uh oh. Then my finger sank into the wall and I noticed that it was bulging and why's the carpet all squishy? And why do I smell mushrooms? Goddammit where's the building manager.

Wall-to-wall in the bathroom creeps me out. On the other hand, I'm glad to see that there's a bathtub just the right size for bathing a medium-size dog. Is there one for humans as well?

This is every single light in a parking structure where I work. Being a concrete parking structure, it is somewhat protected from the elements; it's also Michigan, where months of winter causes odd frost/condensation/puddling in metal things left outdoors. This structure is 8 years old. Is it kosher to have hundreds of 'plug-in' lights and ceiling-mounted sockets?

Good God. I like the combo of bathroom carpet AND low-profile/walk-in-tub without any shower curtain. Really maximize the amount of water damage and mildew on that floor.

Why protect the walls so high if there's no shower? Also, if it's just a tub, why not get a much fancier spout on the tub?

Looking forward to when someone busts through the floorboards, or possibly causes the deck to collapse with the combination of their own fatness, natural settling, and craptastic construction. Hopefully nobody breaks anything, that I wouldn't bet against the possibilty.
