Basically he weakly walked back parts his platform today, including continuing to prosecute Hillary, acknowledging a connection between human activity and climate change, etc. On the alt-right, he said "I don’t want to energize the group, and I disavow the group. It’s not a group I want to energize, and if they are energized, I want to look into it and find out why." On the literal nazi stuff the other day, "I disavow and condemn them." And yeah, freep is really unhappy right now.

So I was going to cover more of the whining about Trump changing his mind about going after Hillary, but after skimming them it's just all the same thing over and over and over - either Trump is a master tactician always a dozen steps ahead of his opponents, or it's a non-statement designed to trick the left into complacency because the POTUS doesn't decide who gets prosecuted, or it's the ultimate betrayal. Each thread eventually degrades into a stupid shouting match between those three camps and it's really not very fun at all. I found only one post that actually pointed out how dangerous it is to have the winning candidate go after the losing candidate, and he was shouted down immediately. Instead, from Donald Trump at The New York Times: Live on Twitter posted by freeper FewsOrange Various NYT columnists and editors live-tweeted the event. All of the tweets, some with clarifying annotations, are listed here: http://www.nytimes.com/live/trump-at-the-new-york-times-the-tweets/ You should probably go read all of that, as freep ends up almost nothing but Hillary while much more was talked about. quote:To: FewsOrange So yeah, let's talk about that. Trump sent out a few tweets this morning ripping into the NYT for allegedly changing the terms of the interview. The NYT denied any such change happened. A few hours later, Trump tweeted that it was back on. From Trump: ‘I have an open mind’ on Paris climate pact posted by freeper Kevin Cthe excerpt posted:In a meeting with New York Times journalists at the newspaper’s Manhattan headquarters, columnist Tom Friedman asked about Trump’s position on withdrawing from the climate pact, according to Times reporter Mike Grynbaum. He also went on to talk briefly about the impact that the agreement would have on the cost of doing business. The unequal cost burden between various countries in the Kyoto agreement is what caused big business to push back against climate change to begin with. Nobody thought it was a hoax before the pushback from American businesses started; almost nobody outside of America thinks it's a hoax. Unfortunately, just like the whole "well I might not go after Hillary" stuff, this is a really wishy-washy, non-committal answer that leaves plenty of chance that he'll just go right back to what he said he wanted to do before. quote:To: Kevin C Freep opinions: Any time someone reports Trump said something that deviates from the party line, it's a hoax quote:To: Kevin C quote:To: Maceman This is not a "leak." Christ has spoken of a society where the poor, the weak and the excluded are those who make the decisions. Not the demagogues, or the barbarians, but rather the people and the poor that have faith in God or not that we have to help obtain equality and liberty.” Anyway, we all know how much freep looooves Pope Francis, so I'm sure their reaction to this one is going to be hilarious. quote:"It is the communists, in all cases, that think like Christians." quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: pissant quote:To: ifinnegan quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Repealthe17thAmendment quote:To: Repealthe17thAmendment quote:To: pepsi_junkie quote:To: Mount Athos Oh man, I love it when I can post something and not bold it! quote:To: Thibodeaux quote:To: Mount Athos quote:To: Mount Athos I suspect this minor ongoing abortion derail is what killed the thread. quote:To: HiTech RedNeck Anyway, I find it tragic that the brutal, authoritarian communist states that rose in Russia and China are forever what the freep generation will think of when they hear "communism." The New Yorker posted:For more than twenty minutes, Trump railed about “outrageous” and “dishonest” coverage. That's because they think that they are righteous and incorruptible, and don't understand how evidence or systems of power work, so they believe "if I suspected my boss was a molester I'd rain holy judgement on them, unless of course it was a smear, in which case I'd know 100%" Which being fair isn't unique to Freep, plenty of people acted like that in the wake of the BBC or Penn State.
