The election is yearly, so since the last election one third of the student body has graduated (high school in Japan is three years), therefore 33% of the voters have no clue who he is and what he's done and need to be convinced to vote for him. Also presumably there are other candidates, so he still has to campaign to convince his previous voters to vote for him again (and possibly win over some of those who hadn't voted for him). Politics, yo.

^^^ All those same circumstances would have applied to a previous election, except it would have been even worse because he wouldn't have any reputation/history. Wasn't there some sort of other reason he was elected the first time? I could be wrong about this, but I feel like he may have been placed there due to being top of the class or something? Though if that's the case I don't know why there would be an election this time around.

I think it was that there was some kind of drama/shenanigans with the previous 3rd years, which split the vote all to hell? We never learn the exact details. But I might be confusing this with something else.

I just caught back up on Yami no Kodou after not reading it since October and I'd forgotten what a trip this manga was. At this point in the story the lead guy is in a weird threesome with his boyfriend and an undead energy vampire and is also collecting a harem of inter-dimensional warriors who are all horny for his previous incarnation. The warriors and the human characters communicate on different wavelengths so the warriors voices sound like birds chirping and they have to communicate via psychic uplinks facilitated by holding hands. It had a very X/1999 feel at the beginning then it went waaay past that and just kept going and I love it.

You know, I feel like at some point discussing some BL stuff crosses a line and becomes similar to discussing hentai manga (or at least ecchi manga that is clearly intended to sexually titillate the reader) in this thread. I guess it depends upon whether the plot is just a framing device for the sex or the other way around. edit: To clarify a bit, I don't really mind discussing even raunchy BL stuff, but I'm not sure if it really makes sense to put it under the header of "romance" once it crosses the sort of line I mentioned and just becomes a vehicle to watch sexy guys bang each other. If that is in reference to my last post I was being facetious because there is very little actual sex in the manga, no detail when there is, and it is *all* about emotional connections and the wacky supernatural plot. e: thinking about most of the titles that have been posted like...ever, I think people are pretty selective about just recommending plot-focused BL. A lot of those do get pretty racy but...so what? It's kinda nice to have the option vs no physical contact at all other than a single chaste kiss in the last panel or whatever. Currently running anime Tsukigakirei is a pretty cute low key romance about two awkward middle school dorks getting to know each other and seems to have managed to advance more in three episodes than a lot of romance stuff does in three volumes, it feels very real in a way you don't often see in anime too.
