My favorite quick joke of this fight was the panel of Yohei (convicted murderer) and Muteba (tattooed merc) pondering what a shocking technique it is to use your own hair as a weapon. They're both totally bald. It seems beyond obvious to mention it now, but establishing most of the fighters are just there to do a job turned out to be a smart move. Reading about this bag of mixed nutcases bouncing off each other between fights is one of my favorite parts of the series.

where the red fern gropes posted:i want to see kazuo accidentally get put into one of the fights They could go with the "overestimating him" plotline. I.E A fighter could overhear that he is a specialist in counter attacking when actually talking about someone else. Later that fighter darts around him at top speed waiting for a punch but never is attacked because Kazuo cant see him because he's moving too fast. When he goes in to attack Kazuo doesnt move, and the fighter assumes Kazuo is in the perfect position for a counter attack, thus why he doesn't move and never completes the attack to avoid being hit by a counter. Eventually the fighter collapses from exhaustion and remarks that Kazuo's defense was impenetrable and he has never met a fighter with such incredible positioning/stances/bravery etc etc. Applebee123 fucked around with this message at 16:32 on May 6, 2017 |

I'm not expecting that blow to have actually ended the match after all that build up, but I think it'd be pretty neat if it did. Also I wonder what the information the announcer girl left out was.

Really digging the humanizing of most of the fighters. Just makes them that much more interesting. Gonna be honest. Wish that this fight would be done in one punch, if only for the sheer ridiculousness of it.

The fight itself may very well be over. Note that there are 3 chapters left in volume 8, titled 'Tiger,' 'Monster,' and 'Rage,' respectively. Coincidentally, the first couple of those titles also match the nicknames of the favorite in this bout, and the next. We'll likely get a chapter of denouement before Sawada jobs to The Most Muscular Man in History but Goro is almost certainly down for the count--incapable of continuing if not outright KO'd/dead. If there are any matches that end in a single blow, Watatsuki, Julius and The Fang would be the ones to bet on. I'd expect the next chapter to cover Goro's discovery of the Kengan matches, how their first clash went from Watatsuki's perspective, and whatever error made it's way into his pre-fight bio. (FWIW, I resisted the temptation to look at the raws thus far so don't bother mentioning whether I have it right.)

It seems perfectly appropriate for this fight to end in one punch. We already know Watatsuki is gonna be a major player, and this other guy doesn't know martial arts. It demonstrates how much of a monster both of them are without revealing Watatsuki's secret techniques or whatever.

Regarding the error, there is this one page where it obviously shows how similar they are in terms of body type. I went back and checked; the announcer skips his weight/height. I'm guessing the light-haired fighter is much heavier than the other guy because of denser ( = stronger ) muscles.

Hopefully some inane person will come along and catch us up some day, like what happened with Kingdom or HELCK.
