Helsreach was a really interesting take on Black Templars but the siege bolter porn was an inferior Necropolis.

Well it's hard to top the battle of Helm's Deep recreated with spider-pyramid siege towers, a handful of nukes, and tanks fighting like literal horse cavalry.

My favourite part of Lord Inquisitor so far is how many times "Erasmus Brosdau" shows up in the credits Count it

Don't forget the Armadillo-esque siege crawlers that one guy heroically charges before getting toasted and then still offing it on account of his body being laden with explosives. Pretty metal.

Does anybody have any book recommendations for plots that involve the Cognitae? Prospero Burns reminded me that they were actually a thing. Shouldn't they have a more prominent role in the universe given their mission statement?

So far Carrion Throne is pretty great, really paints Earth as a super poo poo hole that was only hinted at in other books.

But I was joking about how Helsreach dude is cranking out amazing work with fantastic animations in a short amount of time through Source Filmaker while the Lord Inquisitor team is taking literally an entire Dark Age of Technology to finish their labour of love in Cinebox.

Helsreach dude is also using a very functional animation program with premade assets that all use a premade skeleton rigging system. SFM cuts a lot of corners and his art style covers up a fair chunk of the weaker aspects of the system. Erasmus is pretty much scratch building his project from the ground up

My only problem with the Helsreach video is that there is far too much wobble or camera unsteadiness in every shot and it gets grating on the eyes pretty fast.

There's no wobble, that's a result of the chicken scratch overlay. The actual animation underneath is fairly smooth with a few exceptions

Gaunt's Ghosts has a shitton of full-fledged books, while Eisenhorn is "only" three, so maybe that one? I liked it, it had a bunch of weird writing moments, but overall good entertainment.

I'm really curious about the new Primaris marines showing up in BL stuff. I hope at some point we a scene of Guard being slaughtered by necrons or nids, then drop pods stream down and marines pop up and save them, and the grunts just go "Ehh, it's just the old boring astartes, I was hoping we'd see the new, cool guys!" That or Night Lords raiding an imperial world, seeing Primaris deploying and just going "What the actual hell. Are we the only one who care about keeping out geneseed pure anymore?"

I want to see ADB write about Primaris and old guard marines coming into conflict over Chapter traditions and the ingrained argument of raw talent versus experience.

I don't like the idea if the new marines cause they are supposed to be the pinnacle of humanity anyway. Like they're the emperor's angels and uh now they are second class citizens? Idk man. I don't see that going well

Primaris Marines being basically clones makes them the obvious successor to Iron Men crisis.

I thought we still didn't really know how Bigmars work? Like are they clones or actual new marines from stasis? The fact that they already have commanders and, apparently, veterans creates fluff issues. Unless it's an upgrade process for old marines? Which would explain the Smurfs having so many so quickly as they're going to be perfectly willing to throw out Codex things if it's their Primarch saying so. Although I too would love a short story of a traitor legion unit emerging from the Warp after some time fuckery where for them the Siege of Terra was a few years ago and they hit a codex style Primaris chapter and get torn apart.

All I really want is Gav Thorpe to have a new book with primaris stuff just to callback to a scene from Deliverance Lost and have an Alpha infiltrator yell to a Primaris to "hold on to this" and toss him a primed grenade but instead of falling for the hot potato like a normie astartes idiot, have the primaris immediately punt it back at him. Like poetry, it rhymes.

Is Cadian Blood better than the Emperor's Gift? I just read the latter and thought it was pretty poo poo, so I'm not sure it's worth reading the earlier book.

Emperor's Gift suffered from originally being two books and then having to hack them together with new rewrites after GW changed a shitload of details regarding the Grey Knights and having to include their new models in the book.
