Well, it'll almost certainly be better written than Armada, at least.

It's set in 0089, after ZZ.

I hope that manga addresses how the internet would actually work. Each colony could have it's own network, but wouldn't getting information between two colonies even in the same side be pretty difficult? Do ships have big servers on them and carry information with them as they go from colony to colony?

Wouldn't it be possible to use satellites to bounce laser communication lines between colonies? I would assume that wouldn't work in battle situations for obvious reasons, but I could see that sort of thing letting a loose inter-colony network happen, or even just scheduled dumps to sync up some sort of extracolony servers, while most stuff is just on local colony servers. Like maybe the darknet would be malware that piggybacks on these systems somehow, and allows illegal extracolony communications for non-military personnel, while normal pubbies are expected to just access local colony networks. So it's a bitch to track down because you have to investigate EVERY colony, because future network technobabble

It would be laser comms between colonies / earth. The le grange points are stable so keeping contact should be trackable/ computable. I expect it would at worst latency wise be compatible to microwaves / radio signals, but probably better honestly. Im no math guy but i expect me this is something that could be easily computed.

Do Minovsky particles interfere with lasers? And like Kurui Reiten brought up, those would originally be for military and government purposes, what kind of bandwidth would you need for unrestricted civilian use?

No, several shows make a show of pointing out pilots using laser communication because of minovsky interference.

I was gonna say later gundams use fly by light for the controls but now that I think of it that's a Muv Luv thing. But laser comms gotta be a thing, minovsky I don't think bends light.

it'd probably work through laser comms but with cross colony stuff getting shut down whenever there's a fight cos of too much Minovsky interference. Goddang Zeons if I get bid sniped on this Limited Edition Haro from Londenion I swear I'm gonna steal a Gundam.

Nice refreshing change of pace to have a pilot that is (sorta) trained before getting in the cockpit of his own Gundam.

It's happened before. I mean, the most recent show's lead was an experienced mercenary who'd racked up more than his share of kills in the cockpit before the series started, even if the cockpit wasn't initially attached to the Gundam.

So Twilight Axis episodes 2 and 3 are much better than whatever the gently caress that first episode was trying to do. They go back to a normal linear storytelling technique, with only a single flashback so far. This was definitely made on a budget though. It's got Thunderbolt quality artwork, but the animation is pretty lacking. That said, the lack of dialogue in most scenes lends itself better to visual storytelling, and I wasn't lost in what was happening at any given time.

It's also a direct neural interface, so controlling it was all intuitive from the get-go.

A lot of recent leads have had prior training : Bellri, Setsuna & Shinn as well as Mika. Even going back further there's Heero, Domon, Uso and Kamille. The OVAs add Shiro and Kou as well.

There's a couple of possible cases too, like Garrod probably is self taught and at least adequate at X's start, but not great while Loran may have had some basic training to pilot FLATs. Asemu and Kio were also given training before piloting, though whether you want to count them as leads is debatable. It's been a thing since nearly the beginning, and seems to be happening a little more often of late, if anything.

It's a good change as the years go by because it just makes Amuro more and more terrifying. Dude read a manual and then became one of, if not the best pilot in the universe in a year.

I'm pretty sure Tomino wanted to make Amuro an enlisted character in 0079 and didn't simply because it'd make him unrelatable or sponsors pushed him to make the change. He's enlisted from the beginning in the novels if I recall. It's mostly characters meant to ape Amuro in some fashion that have no prior training too, like Seabook, Kira or Flit. Though the similarity often ends up simply as "first pilot in a new story" like Seabook was supposed to be.
