So Idiocracy was what Mike Judge thinks is literally happening because they're putting chemicals in the water to make us stupid, and they're trying to make us all uneducated so we can't fight back against the Corporate Lizard Overlords! Wake up people!

If you're some what big in Austin you probably know and are/were friends with Alex Jones. My favorite podcasters recently gave up and said gently caress that guy, despite knowing the whole time it was just an act. He didn't act like that outside of his show according to them and was a super nice dude.

Counterpoint: my dad's side of the family is pretty firmly established in Austin and they had almost no idea who Alex Jones was. My grandpa was telling me about something "that angry little conspiracy guy" said and I had to remind him what his name was. It's always weird popping into Thundercloud Subs and seeing the official Infowars handout where The Onion used to be, though.

The fun of good bad-movie watching is experiencing all the stuff that would never have made it in if it was a movie made by pros who knew what they were "supposed" to be doing. If this movie is as slick and by the numbers as the reviews make it out, I will be shocked if it contains anything as memorable as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J65Ou_5Fxpc

I've already seen the ending clips on youtube, it's just the same bullshit "just be yourself" message but with emojis. Nothing else to see here. I'd hope this is the last I'd see of TJ miller, but he's also in ready player one next year, but hopefully he just has a mental breakdown like any other celeb.

quote:According to a report from PIX 11 in New York, a New Jersey woman was sitting in a showing of The Emoji Movie with a group of kids when she noticed a man sitting in the back of the theater. Why did this man catch her eye, you ask? As it turns out, he had his pants unbuttoned with his hand in a place that it definitely shouldn't have been. The woman eventually complained to the movie theater staff, and the man was escorted out of the theater, but by the time police arrived at the scene he was long gone. As of right now, the man has not been arrested and local authorities are seeking help in their attempt to identify him properly.

So the film industry learned a thing or two from videogame publishers. http://www.businessinsider.com/movie-studios-bad-rotten-tomatoes-scores-2017-8 No reviews until release day will be the new normal, so they can push out pure poo poo and no one will know until the money's been took.

The only thing really fun to get mad at in it is just how egregious the product placement is.

Yeah there isn't a lot technically wrong with the film. If filmmaking was just an objective goal of conveying story elements in a clear fashion, it did that. It's just completely soulless.

Heck, if you actually pay attention to Idiocracy, it's nearly a utopia. People are dumb but generally good-natured as long as they can understand you, easily amused, there's free automated healthcare, and the President is a genuinely good man who listens to people who seem to know what they're doing and tries to solve problems and inspire his people even in hard times.
