I really don't like Dany's new dress. It's some dumb star trek uniform. She can't hold a candle to my Queen Cersei.

Maybe Brienne can't claim the surname after walking out on her family to be a hedge knight. Like, she got disowned and now is effectively common.

She's repeatedly called Brienne, The maid of Tarth as a sarcastic title, because no man wants her. It has just been shortened in the show for reasons. Another nasty title is Jewel of the Emerald Isle. Or just "The Pig" in the pig hunt. I'm sure there are others.

I think the entire 'wight-hunting party' thing that supposedly is going to happen seems silly. Pretty stoked to see the Brotherhood without Banners-guys fighting tho. Their actions during the War of the Five Kings were always something I liked in the books even if you only heard rumours about it, but seemed to be a little random and neglected in the show. Can't wait for the reunion between The Hound/Sansa+Arya+Brienne

I guess it's supposed to be an ironic contrast to Sam's situation on some level. emanresu tnuocca fucked around with this message at 09:18 on Aug 9, 2017 |

Yeah, Brienne's daddy permitted her training so he must be at least resigned to the type of life she's leading. I always wondered if it had to do with Tarth being her maiden name and/or her not being allowed to be called Ser or something. No other highborn women her age are being referred to by their father's name either, after all.

We never hear anyone referring to Elia Martell as Elia Targaryen either. And I think Lysa Arryn is referred to as Lysa Tully about as often. Stannis is the only one who ever notes that Sansa is now a Lannister and does so derogatorily. I think generally the female scions of great houses sometimes tend to emphasize their paternal lineage so as to appear as equals but any way it's not 100% consistent.

Variations of the wight hunting party and dany burning poo poo in the crownlands is almost certain to happen in the books. You can book it on Jon and 12 companions riding north of the wall to do something or other, though in the books everyone but Jon will die. And of course Dany is going to recreate the field of fire somehow.

Which kind of makes the dagger being given to the catspaw even more bullshit.

I just had so much trouble believing that one person could load it and aim it with actual success in hitting a fast-moving, distant airborne target that no-one in living memory had ever tried to shoot at before. I can believe that people might have tried using ballistae against dragons during the Targaryen civil war, but I don't think you'd have a very good success rate. They're not Discworld characters in 'Guards! Guards!', one-in-a-million chances don't pop up nine times out of ten. Edit: I will say that the Lannister army showed astounding discipline in their ranks when an actual dragon shows up and starts breathing napalm at them. Is my D&D nerd showing if I expect people (and horses) to experience dragonfear? Mad Hamish fucked around with this message at 03:21 on Aug 10, 2017 |

We better take our anti-dragon weapon with us from KL to Highgarden and back just in case Daenerys shows up. *7 weeks or maybe 2 days, who knows, later* Oh no a dragon! *fights for 10 minutes* Oh wait. We have literally a thing just for this situation. Duh. - master battlefield strategist Jaime Lannister
