I just found another Lego store near me.

I live in the San Francisco suburbs. The Bay Area. I believe San Jose has a used Lego store. There are none in San Francisco. But my area has 4! That's crazy. There are only 4 The Lego Stores in the Bay Area and I have 4 used stores near me.

What is your area like?

I'm really curious what SoCal is like. There must be a bunch down there.

I live in SF. Sometimes there are legos at the children's consignment store we go to. Also, there is a person in inner sunset/cole valley area who clearly runs a lego arbitrage business out of their garage, if you look at craigslist regularly for legos in SF they account for 1/4 of all listings. I wonder if they will someday be the victim of lego theft or if they are the retail fence end of a bay area criminal conspiracy in lego form. They charge pretty much exactly retail for sets in production, high markups for retired sets.

It's weird.

Should we have bay area legoons meetup?

Anyone can buy directly from Lego. You just have to do an order of 50k, I believe. So you buy 50k in product, sell it on ebay/wherever at whatever price you want. There's a guy in Alameda who does it. I bought a couple new sets from him once at much below retail and he explained it to me. Probably a good way to launder $$ as well.

Pretty sure those were stolen.

I doubt it. Guy knew too much about the system and had too much inventory to be some small time crook. Plus he still lists things on CL pretty consistently. I actually found him on ebay the first time.

Anyway, is Pirate Ship Ambush a lovely set? It's been out of print a few years, it's a ship, and it has barely climbed in value. You can get it for pretty much what it cost at release still. Seems a bit odd for a ship.

Finally finished the Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty, and drat. That is one highly detailed and intricate set, and it just looks properly amazing all together. If I have any quibbles it's the usual thing about stickers, but there's not so many of them. Also, I was imaging that the sails were going to be much larger, but oh well, I can deal, the rest is all so good.

Suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Got an update today about Millennium Falcon from Lego:

Lego posted:

As you may know, the new LEGO® Star Wars™ Millennium Falcon (75192), our largest LEGO set ever, went on sale exclusively to VIP Members on September 14. We are very excited that we received such a positive response from fans like yourself, it exceeded all of our expectations! Unfortunately, that also means the first batch has already sold out.

The good news is we are making more as quickly as possible and expect to have very limited quantities available for the remainder of 2017.

To make your wait a little easier, you can now sign up to receive back-in-stock notifications and we'll email you when a new batch of the Millennium Falcon (75192) is available.

Simply confirm your interest below and you will be notified when a new batch of the Millennium Falcon (75192) is available on shop.LEGO.com

So I guess chances of getting one this year are pretty much zero. Heck, they still haven't been able to even get Saturn V properly back in stock, so...

Quick opinion check on that ship I posted last week. I just redid a few small details and there's 2 that I'm not sure of. 1. the sand blue 2x4 on the wings (which was previously all gray) and 2. the blue hoses. I'm not sure if I like it more or I overdid it. I like the sand blue tiles but I feel like it loses some of the classic space-ness since there is already so little gray. And I like the blue hoses but I can't really tell if it feels like overkill. Thoughts

Previous version for reference.

I know the differences are tiny but I'm pretty :spergin: about this stuff.

I keep meaning to make a habit of browsing resale shops and garage sales, but I got this weird thing about walking into a place, browsing, and leaving.

Plus almost every store near me is a goodwill, and any time they get lego it's posted in their online store to be auctioned off because they know it's in high demand.
