they've played up the whole goku and vegeta are unbeatable if they just fight together thing so much I don't think there is a chance it won't end up with Goku & Vegeta vs Jiren in the end

This is pretty interesting because I'm not sure how it'll shake out. Frieza showing he can take destruction energy back when he was introduced is surely going to come into play against GoD Toppo, right?

i do think it's more than a hiatus, but i don't think they're exactly lying when they say this isn't the end of DB like, keep in mind that most of the Japanese VAs are loving ancient. King Kai's VA is already audibly in the process of loving dying, and while Masako Nozawa has said she's game to play the Son family as long as they'll let her, she's loving 81. a very large chunk of the cast could, honest to God, keel over any day now, and at the bare minimum they're going to need to figure out recasting the characters without making anyone incredibly angry. that's also assuming Toriyama sticks around, because dude is not exactly young himself. I think they're putting new DB on hold, not because they're done with the story (by any means), but because they could genuinely run into some serious, bad issues if they keep it going without figuring out how to handle these situations first. if Goku's voice passed away during the middle of DBS production and they didn't have a replacement on standby ready to go, that would be extremely loving bad. if I'm right, the new movie will either be a last hurrah for the endangered members of the old voice cast or a dry run for the replacements, and we'll see a new series with the latter on those roles not too long after.
