In tall ships, a lot of the rigging is accomplished with miniature knots, which bypasses glue entirely, but can be frustrating in its own right. What kind of glue did you use for the rigging? On my last project, I used Loctite Ultra Liquid Control- it doesn't dry foggy like a lot of other CA glues, sets up quickly and fibrous cordage will absorb it so as to avoid the globby look. On the plus side, it's still a bit of a gel, so it doesn't run everywhere.

I have this dream to build the entirety of the battle lines off Samar. It can be done in 1/350's (for only ~$2500 worth of kits), but the Samuel B Roberts would have to be built off the Iron Shipwrights' Rudderow. Blue Jacket makes a gorgeous Roberts, but it's not in a scale that any of the other ships are available in (nor should they be). I used Loctite gel, though I forget the exact type. Plus, I use accelerator to help things set quickly. Trying to hold things still long enough for the glue to set was difficult with my somewhat shaky hands. Didn't help that I did a lot of it at the end of a 36 hour waking stretch after a long flight.

I really paced myself on my last rigging phase and forced myself to take breaks so as to not wind up all shaky and pissy after screwing something up. I've also picked up a bunch of cheap and light alligator clips to use to hold rigging elements as I'm working on them and might get one of those super-poseable third hands to make things even less fiddly. It's kinda like shooting: find ways to work around your natural handicaps and you'll enjoy it lots more

After I finished the CLK, I knocked out what was left of the GT-R and I'm now refocusing on the '66 C10. Got a light coat of primer on the cab so I could see what really needed cleaning up and then took care of that. I had to clearance the rear wheel wells a bit to fit the new tires, but I got lucky enough to not have to fab up new wells in the bed. Cab is sitting a little higher than I'd like so I need to figure something out to get that down a bit. Headers for the big block are proving to be a bit tricky as well.

I need help with my Traasche again  The valve is stuck in the down position, so the air is coming out of the airbrush at full blast 100% of the time now. I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner for the whole day, but that didn't help. Is there some kind of way I can disassemble it, or is it stuck like this forever?

Badger's regdab and Iwata's superlube are popular lubricants. Your best bet is to unscrew the whole valve assembly and check the spring:

 that disassembly image helped. Mine didn't open like that, instead I had to insert the Allen key (so that's what it was for!) that came with the set into the bottom and unscrew part 13, after which I could pull out the spring and part 12. 12 had quite a bit of gunk around the ball bit at the top. After cleaning that off, the airbrush is good as new. Thanks a ton!

Ok, back from Disney and got some work done on my Corsair. The canopy isn’t quite as bad as I thought, but it’s still the weak link. The oil filter isn’t as harsh as it looks here; my iPhone flash really accented it. Overall I’m pretty ok with it; still a way off from being done though.

Whatever I do next I’ll probably try salt or rubber cement just to see how I like it. The more I look at this thing the more I hate that I didn’t get the seam down the fuselage sanded all the way.

They're some sort of partner or subsidiary with Trumpeter, so they can put out phenomenal kits... or garbage. If you want to do a Sherman, do an old Italeri one if you're starting out or an Asuca if you're experienced. Dragon, while having a fantastic selection, kind of awkwardly sits at high complexity and not that much better price.

It's a weird mix of having some pretty fantastic detail and a lot of options, but being extremely ill fitting. More than anything, it feels like a 4th gen bootleg of a a Dragon kit is about the only way I can describe it. Lots of warped pieces, very little flush stuff, etc. My only previous experience with armor are 40k models and a a Tamiya Tiger 1 which, track aside, was one of the most enjoyable kits I've ever built in my life. I'm tentatively doing this up in an 8th Army scheme as I'm obsessed with North Africa stuff lately, but that's gonna be dependent on whether or not I can find a set of decals on the cheap.

So update on that Kelly's Heroes tank project I mentioned before. Turns out that Warlord Games apparently has a "Hollywood Tiger" kit available which is about an accurate rendition by looks of it.  Keen eyed people might also notice that for some reason the decal sheet don't actually let you do the number 115. Despite this being shown on the box art and on the product page. (The number obfuscated by the hull is 3 in this case.)May need to find some way to fix that. And now to ruin my search history by looking up painting guides for SS Tank officers. The weather this weekend has been the shits, so I had an excuse to finish installing the decks on the Bluenose. I have a fair bit of sanding to do to bring them flat, then it's time to build up the stern with an eye to adding the rails. I also have some fittings to add, mainly the openings in the bow for the anchor cables... then on to more painting and deck fittings. Installing the decks was quite a learning experience and I definitely got better at it on the aft half, but lesson learned.
