As an HVAC tech, I just assume that any enclosure outside is full of wasps at any given time. About 80% of the time I'm not wrong.

Is this in the UK? I was once told by a Londoner that the reason why many older buildings had bricked-up windows or elevated doors missing staircases was because of the occasional imposition of taxes on landholders that were based on the number of usable windows or doors in each building. On the one hand, I’m sure that sort of unintended consequence to a law wouldn’t be limited to the UK if similar taxes were levied elsewhere. On the other hand, I’ve never heard mention of this “portal tax” from any other source. Ninja edit: for the love of God, Montressor, I left my pants outside with you! There’s a window here!
