Yes, I guess, there is this goon who is credited as the creator, and probably has the rights, everyone else who made art and the early stories on the first thread are probably gonna just die poor or something.

For such a ridiculous franchise it really did feel like a genuine labor of love that Walker was the core of, 8 suffered so much not having him. You compare that CGI Carrie Fisher in Rogue One to Furious 7, and while one feels so shallow and exploitative, the latter in what's supposed to be a trashy car chase action franchise feels so much more real and out of respect. Yeah I'm all for harsh copyright laws that put the limit at say 20 years. But that's fully it. No rentseeking, esp not for your kids. Also 100% inheritance tax even though I will lose money on that

Rogue One isn't a memorial to Fisher though, she was still alive when the film released. It's just the Disney de-aging magic (tm). Did you mean Peter Cushing?

He went and copyrighted the character in 2010 according to the articles about the lawsuit that Sony is putting on an independent distributor who is putting out a film called Flay that features a Slendermanesque monster - so that dude has already made a chunk of money since Sony bought the film rights a few years ago. But if the movie hits well enough, hes really, really gonna enjoy that first royalty check.

While Venom has a pretty substantial solo career at this point, it seems like a really bad move to not start him in a Spidey movie. Though maybe there'll be some top secret third act Tom Holland cameoing?
