Interns do it because they don't have anything else to talk about.

Jareds only write one resume: the one when they have zero job experience. Its nepotism the rest of the way up the corporate ladder.

i'm trying to remember when i took all my high school stuff off my resume. it was probably immediately before i moved up from my previous poo poo part-time job at blockbuster to an honest to god engineering internship.

i dont think the companies that never called me back on my previous internship applications were impressed by my model UN awards and my previous lovely after-school cashiering jobs.

I have considered doing this with far less provably useful information, I should get on this

I spoke to a journo I know about that Facebook incorrectly reporting viewing figures thing and he was saying it's affects were felt all over the world, but the US was hit the worst.

He suspected that Universities had spent loads advertising Video Production courses and cut Editing classes to fill the demand as well.

It's like that theory about Facebook creating advertising profiles for Batman because he gets tagged in photos at conventions, just crazy.

Getting an entry level job is mostly about standing out to a hiring business for totally arbitrary reasons.

this is basically every horror story i heard about the terrors of centrally-planned economies where some moron government bureaucrat gets things horribly wrong in the 5 year plan and production gets misdirected towards the wrong things and everyone starves while the factories produce millions of tanks whereas a free market economy is guaranteed to produce the right things

the story that always gets floated is the factory where they misprinted the order for 5 tons of nails so they produced one big 5 ton nail.

i have the dubious benefit of instead of high school stuff i have a big paragraph about my military job that if you were ever actually in the air force, you'd immediately realize basically says 'i just answered phones and got sent on work details sometimes'

the overwhelming majority of people that watch Twitch are minors and young adults. nice job Amazon

also remember when those CSGO streamers partially owned a bunch of gambling/skin crate sites and streamed themselves gambling and winning on their own sites? yeah there were no legal ramifications.

There is more to this than meets the eye. Some of these channels appear and disappear in the space of a couple of days - and attact tens of thousands of viewers in the those periods with no advertising for the channel. It's really weird. The channels chat channels appear to be full of bots pretending to be people by spouting memes and common emoji's used on twitch.

https://www.kotaku.com.au/2018/10/twitchs-casino-section-is-full-of-suspicious-channels/

Kotaku is not the best source ever, but it gives a quick background about the stuff that doesn't appear on the surface.

quote:

Take, for instance, Casinoblast, which seemingly did not exist until yesterday, but which peaked at just over 25,000 concurrent viewers during a seven-hour debut stream that showed a simple jackpot game basically playing itself.

When it started, it had zero followers and was following zero other streamers. It now has just 20 followers despite having allegedly been viewed by thousands of people yesterday. For comparison’s sake, CasinoDaddy—with its 60,000+ followers—usually pulls 2,000-3,000 concurrent viewers.

you should see the progress gait biometric recognition has made

it's a technology mostly restricted to surveillance systems right now but if you're in the loop then you know there's a big push to improve the technology for mass surveillance systems

imagine a couple of cameras able to accurately identify dozens of people at the same time from a long distance by nothing other than the way they walk, the more advanced systems can identify people even when they deliberately try to change the way they walk -- it's not as easy as it sounds
the cutting edge stuff is unsettling in its accuracy, and it's only going to get better just like facial recognition technology

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIT70UyjQdU&t=66s

it's very plausible that you could identify protesters or other malcontents this way
