Not really. This is something that doesn't get explained too good.

Coins get crapped out at a pre-determined*, diminishing* rate that will slowly trickle down to a stop in 2140 or something, even though like 80% of all coins have already been issued. The algorithm makes adjustments via magic* to make sure they come out at the designated time*. Even if the entire network crashed and one guy on a 386 computer was the only one mining, he'd get all the coins that will ever be found from now on despite consuming very little power to do so*. Very indirectly, that will mean those Bitcoins aren't worth poo poo since nobody wants them, but these things are only indirectly tied together.

*There is a lot of really dumb math behind the scenes and practical considerations that mean this isn't totally right, but I think this is close enough to get the idea.

So right now, the power output competing for Bitcoins is remaining very stable even though fewer and fewer of them are being issued every time the algorithm adjusts, and even though the overall value is deep in the shitter. You may think that sounds really crappy and the whole idea should go in the sewer.

That's why we call them butts.

More QuadrigaCX Shenanigans at Mashable.com.

Now, it looks like it screwed up again. According to a preliminary report filed by Ernst and Young, which is acting as a court-appointed monitor for the company, QuadrigaCX sent a so-called cold storage wallet 103 bitcoin (worth more than $460,000) after it had been locked out.

Instead of losing a part of your soul by jacking into the internet with a port in the back of your head, you're just losing money on the latest shitcoin and arguing with a Russian bot on reddit about a concrete wall. This is not the future I was promised.

Given his salary range and what they were trading at a year ago dude could have sunk between 1/10th and 1/2 his yearly salary into that single coin.

Here's a good one, dude put 450k into butts in a scheme to transfer nearly a half a million dollars from the US to Canada while avoiding paying taxes on either, and then QuadrigaCX went shits up (haha Crohn's joke), and now the dude is whining about losing his life savings because he was trying to break the law.

This guy's story has also been told in other, better written, articles. He wasn't even trying to avoid taxes, but just bank fees. Even at the amount he was sending the fees would have been negligible. Every single buttcoiner is the Platonic ideal of being greedy and stupid.

It's nice that you and others are getting their critical articles posted, but it's also kind of a typical condemnation of the media where they are willing to give a voice to the nocoiners now that the bubble has burst and not when they were regurgitating talking points of blockchain hucksters declaring it as the future of money and anyone not throwing their life savings into it were fools.

Haha yeah this is just evidence of the lamestream media bias against Bitcoin. This is good for Bitcoin because everyone will see it and know for a fact that Bitcoin is still cool

Do you not understand that the media's only bias is readership? They are a business first. Whatever gets more hits is all the media cares about. Keep that in mind every time you read "the news".
