Trailer looks cool, I'm looking forward to getting the expansion. My wildchild experiments have had mixed luck. I can reliably get to the Duke, but I usually splat a few levels after. Dual claws have crazy damage output and if you use weapon power based skills, you do even more damage and auto-hit (negating the accuracy penalty). The problem is the 3 best modes of defense in tangledeep are blocking, parrying, or summoning a meatwall, and wildchild doesn't really excel at any of that. I think a dualwield build just needs to accept you're going to be using comestibles more often. Every time I've won I've gotten to the boss with 255 flask charges, so using it more often isn't exactly that big a deal. One quality of life thing I'd like to see: an option somewhere in Riverstone to see all of the permanent shopkeepers you've found in Tangledeep, see if they've restocked, and warp to them. As it stands, if you want to consistently keep up with them it's a huge pain in the rear end.

I just got this game on Switch and noticed several classes have projectile weapons (I picked the floramancer) but I can't seem to use them at the range they say they have (3 squares in the case of my staff) - I can only attack enemies with it by whacking them in melee. What am I missing?

I just failed to capture a wild untamed Komodo dragon in the desert Oasis. The thing was at about 80% hp and resistant to every element. My floraconda was nearly dead so I used plantsplosion on it and the quest target died instantly. Two things I hadn't seen until that point: plantsplosion dealing enough damage to do more than 50% HP and purple text.

Finally got a dual claw wildchild to the end game. Between the Brigand autocrit passive, the feral bites buff to normal attacks, and thundering lion, I one shot most normal monsters. Champions can be tougher but the claw skills come in real handy there. Once you figure it out, dual wielding is pretty great. Some more small bugs I've noticed: * I've been getting some black screens on start up (though the music plays as normal). If I alt tab out and tab back in the visuals come back. * I completed a bronze wildchild job trial and the emblem was not in my equipment inventory. Jorito however said I did have the bronze emblem. I saved, quit, and restarted, and the emblem finally appeared. * I had a really weird bug where any time I used a comestible I would get the benefit but the comestible would not be used. Ie infinite mint brews. I when I reloaded the save things went back to normal.

My Floramancer/Spellshaper is level 14 and I completed all three Floramancer job trials. I'm on the 15th level of the dungeon. I'm anxious to see if I clear the game or gently caress up. Without telling me the number of floors in the dungeon, am I getting close to the end?

You're close to the end. How much gametime is left mostly depends on how much time you spend goofing around in item dreams. As long as you keep your summons up you'll be fine.

Still kind of just starting the game out here on the switch. I went down the Riverway passage and got to the top I think? It's like floor number 5 and there's only 2 other stairways going up, one's a special room with a merchant in it and the other is a special room that's the Bandit storage I think? It had a bunch of items but there's no other stairway back up out of it. Is there supposed to be more to this path or is that it?

If you really can't find them, you could try going all the way through the other set of 1-5 dungeon floors, get into the hideout, and then look for the other set of down stairs that will take you back into Riverway, to see where those stairs are hiding.

God dammit. I keep running into bugs on this Switch version even after the patch. I've had to redo several item dreams because I come back out of them, a day has passed, and I try to talk to Erin for new rumors and it still crashes. The new save recovery thing couldn't rescue my pre-patch floramancer, I have to keep manually toggling my HuSyn's autobarrier passive because it constantly stops working, and there's something really funky going on with the way navigating the menus with ZL and ZR works. I've also selected the wrong menu item on more than once occasion because the dead zone for the sticks is way too small and it often reads multiple inputs. I've gotten a couple dozen hours out of the game, but I'd like to keep playing and poo poo keeps breaking.

I've also selected the wrong menu item on more than once occasion because the dead zone for the sticks is way too small and it often reads multiple inputs. I haven't played post patch yet, but this is disappointing. I'm becoming increasingly annoyed by the poorly designed UI and with the number of bugs I'm experiencing. Lately my annoyance has been focused on how cumbersome the skill bars are to set up and use. I haven't found a straight forward way to remove skills from my bars. The best way I've found is to select one to move, place it on another skill, then close the menu. This is especially annoying when doing job trials cause you can't start the trial if you have skills from other jobs equipped. Is there an efficient way to select a skill on one of the bars and remove it? Also skills seem to organize themselves in the order you purchase them when you sort learned skills by job. This over complicates finding a skill in an already giant list of skills. Why aren't each job's skills organized consistently from run to run? Also when selecting a skill to use, if you are selecting the bottom right most skill and press right one more time your potion is selected. But you can't move the cursor to the left back into the skills. You can't move from the top row of skills into the weapons. This option issue is extra annoying when combined with how awful inputs are handled in the game. Often a single direction input is interpreted as two inputs. So if I try to select the bottom right most skill, the cursor will blow by the skill I want to use, select the potion, and then I accidentally use the potion because I'm on autopilot with the controls. I shouldn't be expected to diligently input commands one at a time, checking to make sure my desired outcome is a reality before pressing another button. I haven't had to do that in a game in the past 33 years and I'm not about to start doing it now. I had this game on my Steam wishlist since before it released on PC. Then I learned it was coming to Switch and waited because I have always wanted a traditional roguelike on a handheld. Now I've paid a premium for a seemingly inferior version of the game. My good will toward Tangledeep is nearly exhausted and I will likely not be playing it after my current character wins or dies. I don't like being a curmudgeon.

I think they are only two devs, with the addition contracted artists. The beta testers? I think they are a bunch of fans that work for free. That's on pc, they don't have switch dev kits for the beta testers, so yeah, I suspect not a lot of testing was done for the console version. Apart from this being their first console game, I suspect they weren't accustomed to the cert. process and the hoops you have to jump in console land.

I still really enjoy the game, but I just felt like venting after I got the perfect third upgrade on an item dream and it crashed when I went to get a rumor and I was back on the final floor of the dream. I even used to save before talking to Erin pre-patch to minimize the impact of a crash, but I thought I was safe after the patch. Between that and my initial confusion over how to use the automated save recovery feature (my floramancer was still crashing on load so I thought there was something else I had to do), it doesn't feel like the patch has helped me at all. Think I'm just going to put the game down for a while until things have smoothed out. Dead Cells recently got a patch as well, so I might finally pick that up to keep up my roguelike fix.

So are you expected to change classes several times in a run and get abilities from multiple classes? If so should they kind of feed into eachother with regards to their primary stats? How much do you get to keep between class changes?
|
# ? Mar 1, 2019 02:49 |

Class changes are mostly for dipping skills in my experience. There are some really odd synergies out there (my favorite is the paladin passive that gives you extra damage for moving in heavy armor + the brigand/sword dancer skills that move you and attack) and everyone could use the Budoka one-point wonder that negates crits and stuns.

I'm in the zone with paralyze panels on the floor and my corral pet will not walk over them. My floraconda and spirit shade don't give a poo poo and walk on anything. No other dangerous flood panel has stopped my pet until now, in the end stages of the game. Is this working as intended?
|
# ? Mar 2, 2019 22:51 |

It happens on the PC version. Usually pets have a close proximity TP or leap ability if you go back for them but if they lack one then you might have to try something else (maybe digging?) There's a pet order menu somewhere too, that lets you configure how close they stand and what they engage. Might be something in there that can help too.

Question, after my experience with Dead Cells where the more stat increase scrolls you collect the weaker you got past 15 or so because enemies scales with you and past you to the point where you shouldn't even bother collecting them, it's got me side-eyeing the golden chests. This seems like a pretty bum deal right? You can get that xp/jp/gold elsewhere without a toughness boost for enemies, right? Why would you pick this, or is it just a transparent trap option?

Two things 1 . Dead cells doesn't work like that anymore. 2 . Pandora chests increase of difficulty is a feature, not a bug or a flaw. It's the main reason to take them. Game is on the easy side otherwise.
