Israeli elections might be coming up soon

yes, again

Bibi hasn't been able to form a coalition. the haredi parties and the secular right-wing parties are feuding and making conflicting demands. the deadline for forming a coalition is Wednesday, and if they fail to meet it, new elections will happen

lest you get your hopes up, though, it seems that the opposition isn't doing much better. an opposition rally was held yesterday to protest the immunity bill Likud introduced. except that the centrist party running it "forgot" to invite the Arab parties. and when the Arab parties showed up anyway, several centrist MKs boycotted the event. gosh, I wonder why Likud keeps winning

in other news, an Israeli police convoy withstood a brutal terrorist attack

https://www.timesofisrael.com/police-settlers-hurl-rocks-and-slash-tires-of-response-force-in-west-bank/

They unironically called the rally "Defensive Shield for democracy" after one of the IDF's larger oppression operation.

The head of the joint palestinian-israeli socialist party did speak there after being asked by Gantz, but yeah the other arab parties weren't approached.

Calling the forgery "criminal", Kahlon asked for an investigation by the election committee.[17]

the political news from Israel is glorious today

the entire right is furious at Lieberman, at Netanyahu, and at each other, and the knives are out all over the place

Blue and White is blaming it all on Bibi, and they're digging for political ammunition in the various desperate offers he made in his attempts to flip MKs over to his side. for example, he promised an Ethiopian MK faster recognition of the Ethiopian Falash Mura if they joined his coalition, which suggests that the main obstacle to their recognition has been political foot-dragging rather than real religious objections

the Haredi parties have basically vowed vengeance against Lieberman, and are tossing around the idea of vowing not to join any government that includes him. Netanyahu is accusing Lieberman of being a "leftist" who misled the nation, and is making vague threats. Lieberman is firing back on all cylinders, accusing the Haredi of wanting to take over the nation and pointing to many "moderate" positions Bibi has taken in the past as he attempted to balance between the various far-right factions

Labor's facing an internal rebellion, after reports that the party leader was offered a spot in the coalition, seriously considered it, and almost took it - the rest of the Labor MKs had to shout him down. Gabbay'sl leadership days were already numbered after Labor's awful showing, but this was the last straw for many Labor members

Meretz is pushing for a merger with Labor, who had turned it down before for fear that allying with a lefty party would alienate moderate voters. but given how Labor's situation turned out after the election, it's being rediscussed

and best of all, Bibi's dumbass son went public with claims that Netanyahu had made corruption charges against Lieberman disappear by appointing an Attorney General who had agreed to bog down the investigation and then dismiss them. he furthermore claimed that this was part of a corrupt deal between Netanyahu and Lieberman, with the former burying the case in return for the latter's political support

Hasn't the UN said multiple times that the Golan Heights are Syrian territory?

'Cuz you're not allowed to seize land by conquest even if you were the defender originally?

I mean I know no one gives a poo poo about what the UN says anymore but still.
