Meh, quitting drinking is what cut most of the weight for me. I still drink soda and energy drinks, hasn't hindered the loss and currently stability. It might not be effecting my weight, but holy poo poo my teeth are trashed. The march to dentures continues onward.

I know half of you love to poo poo on Apple but just had something awesome happen. I accidentally washed one of husbands air pods because he left it in his pants. He took it in to recycle it and buy a replacement — they took the old one and replaced it for free. We’ve had air pods for a while now and I’m surprised this is the first accident we’ve had. I was feeling pretty lovely about it because they are expensive.

Those airpods cost a fraction of a fraction what you pay for them. They should drat well replace them for free if you somehow mess one up instead of just losing them like everyone else. The pixel 3a has a headphone jack and bluetooth. My work headphones (big 3M hearing protection muffs with bluetooth audio) are fine with bluetooth, because they're big enough to house a battery that lasts 40 hour work weeks and beyond. If I want something small I'll use my corded buds, because they're cheap Sony buds. I don't want to have to recharge earbuds every day.

I think it’s more likely for an eyelash or eyebrow hair but whatever. The AirPods go unnoticed.

I don't give a poo poo what people think about who wears what about. It's the price that's ridiculous and I'm cheap. Those 3M headphones were $40 and I hated spending every penny of it until I put them on and could actually hear music over the trimmers and vacuums.Sarah posted:I have to wear small earphones and they must be Bluetooth. They raid your wallet for every little thing and act like they're doing you a favor. Power cords, headphones, all manner of overpriced proprietary poo poo. It's not just them, Beats is pretty guilty of selling overpriced poo poo that they've added weights to the interior of, so it feels more durable (because weight equals durability, pfft). I'm glad apple did you a favor, but that's far and away the opposite of any experience most I know have had.

Nobody comes close to Apple’s laptop game. MacBooks are great machines. We have two older MacBook Pro’s that we haven’t booted in a while and two brand new MacBook Air laptops that are stupid nice and light and do everything we need at lightning fast speeds.

I should add we have a Lenovo Thinkpad I got for my wife when she started school 8 years ago, and an HP laptop the VA bought me and they are universally garbage. I just use them to run old windows games like Fallout, and Fallout 2, and Lords of the Realm. And they manage to gently caress that up plenty.

Dell Precision. Nothing tops a laptop that the manufacturer GIVES you the tear down manual, and tells you how to maintain it at the hardware level. Not to mention being able to squeeze 3-4 hard disks in a 15 inch laptop (varying by year and model), has a socketed CPU and GPU, and is modular. As well as giving you 4 ram slots rather than 2, and the ability to get to them with ease. Dell also kept docking station compatibility even on their current gen of laptops, so you could dock to older Dell docking stations without the need to upgrade anything. Having said that, unless I start flying more frequently, I dont see why I would need to buy a new tablet. I buy a lot of Chinese junk electronics off of Amazon. Anker headphones and chargers and they are fine for what I use them for, I wouldn't mind some noise cancelling headphones, but I'm not about to spend 300 bucks on a pair.

The keyboards for sure are susceptible to debris getting in them but it’s not the end of the world. I have a 2016 MBP which I had the keyboard replaced for it (sticking/bad feeling key presses), although it was kind of a minor annoyance that didn’t really affect actual use much. Next gen for sure needs a better keyboard design that completely fixes the problem though. This is my 4th Apple laptop in about 20 years and overall nothing else I’ve used comes close. So yeah I’m on the long life train with them, I’ll keep this one until it dies or is functionally obsolete.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro I think it is which was definitely their peak. HDMI, other ports, etc. etc. The MacBook airs are really cool. They were a bit overzealous with the newer ones that had no ports but instead dongles you’d need, plus the keyboard issues of course on the even newer ones. So curious to see where they go. I’d never buy any of the above new, but they do last.

But slice battery and 32 - 64 GB RAM is excellent and I loved mine like no other. Still swapped it out for a top of the line MBP when given a chance by work because it was 1/3rd the weight and most of my work had become terminal / rdp based vs run locally. Lenovo’s P50 series has been excellent for my needs as a workstation class laptop. 64 GB RAM, three drives and a Xeon processor. But I’m just farting around with VMs and containers so its major overkill for my needs.

Yeah, I personally have nothing against Apple's hardware, and generally tell people that if they want a no nonsense machine, Apple will do just fine. But I don't like giving money to a company that fights against Right to Repair and generally solders everything to the board, making it nearly impossible to repair, not to mention their closed source walled garden crap. And I meant to say M4800, I did have an M6800, but it was issued to me, not mine personally.

I'm still using my $30 fire tablet special (black friday sale, I think) from late 2015. It's practically indestructible. Slow as gently caress and doesn't really like to run anything more intensive than one media app and its OS. Still works with pornhub, have to disable a setting and track down the file location on pornhubs' site, but it works. Hilariously durable, slower than octogenarian sex.
