I can't do that poo poo anymore, especially the sleeping on the floor. The most packed rooms were like going back to 2010-2013, plus being up in the streets drinking till 5am. I'm in my 30s now, I can barely take only going saturday/sunday(a few years ago when I last went) while I have my own bed going to bed immediately after the last band.

I’m too close to 50 at this point so I’m not sleeping on a floor... most likely. Really it’s the likelihood of getting my face drawn on for falling asleep first or being puked on that keeps me from a mass group room like that.

The guy who stays with me and het is in his early 20s and he can still pull off sleeping on the floor. im popping my shoes off right when i get back to the hotel but i can fall asleep anywhere. in fact i got too... unwound... last week and fell asleep during a local black metal band.

Bell Witch was amazing live, but this guy kept angrily shooshing people near him whenever someone talked during their quiet parts and that was way more distracting than the talking.

I personally cannot stand prog/djent/tech anything, but hey if you like it then prog away with any prog buddies you might find here. In non-prog matters, I found more cool poo poo from Metal On Metal Records: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExeNvU5_slY Thrashy USPM with a really cool vocal style. Dude has some gusto in his delivery. I listened to two of their albums and at some points it kinda reminded me of a thrash/power version of A Forest of Stars with how he was rambling. To be honest a lot of that just sounded like less angry metalcore to me. When I think progressive metal, I think of stuff like Ne Obliviscaris, Rivers of Nihil, Alkaloid, or whatever weirdness Devin Townsend is up to these days.

I mostly think Ne O, Between the Buried and Me, later Enslaved and uh, Dream Theater even though I don't really care for them. And while all those things fit the 'progressive' label, none of them sound anything alike. Because prog isn't really a great descriptor by itself.
