Ah yes the only other way Horikoshi can flex his knowledge of obscure Western nerd media is if Bakugo issues a batchall for the name

Where did Kacchan even come from? Was there an origin for it or was it just Deku being a weird, awkward dork?

# ? Sep 23, 2019 22:02 |

It's just a cute nickname Deku called him when they were kids, a shortening of Katsuki chan.

# ? Sep 23, 2019 22:10 |

Bakugo's first name is Katsuki. Kacchan is just Ka from his name and the cutesy, childish honorific "chan". That Deku keeps using it now that he's an angry teenage boy is part of why it pissed off Bakugo to keep hearing it still. The other part is that it was Deku, specifically.

I fully believe that Izuku still using "Kacchan" is 80% genuine and 20% him being passive-aggressive.

Kaminari calls him Kacchan now too. Bakugou never really seems to mind the nickname that much honestly. For as mad as he usually is at Deku in general, I don't think I've ever actually seen him tell him or anyone else to stop calling him that.

I don't think it's necessarily that diminutive

Yeah, a big part of Bakugo and Izuku's progress towards being Actual Friends is Izuku getting more comfortable with casually poo poo-talking Bakugo. This is also why U.A. is so good for him. A whole class of people who don't take him that seriously really keeps his ego in check.

I have a feeling Overclock is going to target him soon because of his connection to Knuckleduster(O'Clock). That's probably going to lead to some bad times for poor Hauler.

I feel this will become genuinely critical soon since both series are intersecting more lately, like Present Mic mentioning Shirakumo to Aizawa in the main series, and then Vigilantes showing the backstory with him, or before that, Trigger being used in the main story. It's clear that Vigilantes has gained far more importance than we expected, and likely than it was originally meant to have. Also it'd be rather useful if the anime catches up to the manga, instead of going years with nothing, adapt Vigilantes instead.

I wonder if Recovery Girl is so small because she's a cartoon old person or if she's the same body type as Mineta and La Brava.

It was nice to see an arc with low stakes for once, and where Deku could just do his own thing. No need for rescuing, or for breaking his body into pieces. Just a good boy doing a good think to make a little girl smile.

The Deku VS Gentle chase-fight (just the fight, not counting story weight) is infinitely better than any fight before or after it. Horikoshi had a lot of fun with it and the midair stuff is way cooler than the slugfests. Maybe, MAYBE, Deku and Bakugo VS All Might comes close. Or Team Tsuyu VS Team Some Class B Students
