Jim Silly-Balls posted:Sure didn’t, it just appeared and I could dock on it The welfare freighter is a special event where you warp into a space battle between a freighter and some pirates. Defeat the pirates, dock on the freighter and they will give it to you for free

This event can happen more than once during your game as well.

But the offer to take the freighter gratis will only happen if you don’t already have a freighter. So if you already bought one then no freebie for you.

You aren't obligated to participate in those, even the freebie. Just fly away.

Also, if you accidentally shoot the freighter *while you try to kill the pirates, the Captain will be mad and you won't be able to get it, and will have to wait for the space battle to spawn again later.

Is there any trick to finding good hotspots? Or is puttering around a planet until you get lucky the only option?

# ? Sep 26, 2019 06:34 |

You can do like me and plop down a base in a nice spot, then scan 5 hours later and discover that you're right next to an S-tier power hotspot. Edit: but seriously, no, there's no real trick as far as I know. You can cover a lot of land quickly with an exocraft though. Broken Cog fucked around with this message at 07:08 on Sep 26, 2019 |

runchild posted:Is there any trick to finding good hotspots? Or is puttering around a planet until you get lucky the only option? Unless you're looking to build some kind of monster megabase off an S-tier flux, hotspot intensity doesn't really matter much. Base extractors run while you're logged out, so even a C hotspot will fill up like five storage tanks if you log out and come back the next day.

Okay I'm having a construction issue. I decided to redesign my item crafting farm, and instead of using biodomes this time I set up seven rows, ten deep of 4x4 planters. (I calculate the output, and the number of each plant to the one harvest equals 5 fusion reactors in five stasis devices). however, around the middle of each row I ran into an issue where I would get a construction limit reached warning and be unable to plant individual plants. a little bit of research suggested to me that it was because once you have too many plants and too close approximately, the game won't let you put any more polygons down. I think if someone confirmed this we're moving the planters a little bit further apart but will I still have the same issue, fewer plants seem to be in violation. I know it's not the number of base components like panels and platforms and such, It's got to be something with the individual plants I think. If it anyone is any guidance on this issue, I'm on console.

There's a setting for base complexity, just set that higher and it's fixed. It doesn't explain too well but that message is localised but the setting also means the local complexity. Erm, there's a setting on PC anyway, your milage may vary.

Yeah, it's not an option on Xbox. The (almost) solution was to move them further away from each other, and I've almost got the correct grid down. There's just ONE loving PLANT smack dab in the middle that pops an error still.

I bounced off this game like three times and this week it just *clicked*. I spent hours just immersed in flying, scanning, mining, learning languages and so on. I picked up a wonderfully large ship that was abandoned on some poor planet, probably due to the thirty or so damaged modules. So much fun to slowly bring it up to working order, although the cockpit feels like I'm flying s big stupid truck. I built a half dozen bases on different worlds and gradually remembered to rename them based on what they produce (Ferrite Gamma, ToxiCu, etc.). I wish the load times were a little faster (PS4) but they would be so much worse on my PC. I stumbled upon the recipe to multiply the colored space metals, fell down a wiki rabbit hole, and now I'm playing run around the base stuffing things into refiners and expanding the hydroponics room instead of exploring the galaxy. Game is good. I also draw immense satisfaction from launching my roamer (which my son named "The PoopWagon") off cliffs and slamming into every piece of harvestable Flora/minerals.

Fun Tip You May Already Know: When you've got the Nanites to spend (4,500 or so, total) there are upgrades you can purchase for ~450 each for your Roamer (and each of the various exocraft). At space stations, the middle vendor will sell upgrade modules from C - S Class. There are modules for the engine, the suspension, and the boost. 3 S Class Engine Mods + 3 S Class Booster Mods on your Roamer will turn that thing into a monster; so much fun to dick around in. Suspension mods do little to alter the driving experience, in my opinion. If you find a vendor that sells one of the modules you want in S Class, you can buy it, warp to another system, warp back, and he will have it for sale again! (If that no longer works after the Beyond update, you can try save-scumming it)

One of my base specialists is bugged (and has been for months). The vykeen requires 2 vykeen blades. I have 1, but haven’t seen any since I got that mission. Not a single drop or available to buy anywhere. Even in vykeen systems. It’s so weird.

Thanks for the tip on reloading to refresh the modules in the shops. Got 3 S class engine upgrades for the exocraft and now my roamer flies across terrain at 30 u/s. Are the other craft worth using at all? Asking from both a technical standpoint of inventory/speed, and a fun standpoint of holy poo poo I just flew off a cliff and slammed into a dozen trees on the way down. I tried a survival mode game for a while because actually managing inventory sounded interesting but I shelved it after dying by falling through terrain and losing like 30 salvaged data modules. I enjoyed every other aspect of the game mode except that but hoo boy am I salty over glitch deaths wiping my stuff out.

SynthesisAlpha posted:So motorcycle is super fast and the waterbug eats faces? Nanite Farming: 1. Platinum refines into nanite clusters (35 to 1) so buy a billion platinum and churn nanites. Platinum can itself be created by refining: Silver x1 + Gold x1 → Platinum x1 Less efficient are: Geodesite → Platinum Iridesite → Platinum Ferrite Dust x1 + Oxygen x1 + Chromatic Metal x250 → Platinum x10 2. Pugeneum can be refined into nanites. So go kill gobs and gobs of sentinels and then dump all the pugeneum into the refiner.

gently caress that looks like alot of work. Also, if anyone on Xbox needs anything - materials, places to find good space ships, or gently caress tons of money - just hit me up. You can drop a teleporter at any of my farms (20m/hr indium, 10,000/hr 3 Gases, or the 150m/harvest farm where you get the materials for 5 stasis devices and 5 fusion ignitors). Or if you just want some money or Platinum for nanites, I've got plenty lying around.

haveblue posted:When I turned on the PS4 this morning a patch downloaded, was something new released or was I just out of date? https://www.nomanssky.com/2019/10/beyond-patch-2-13/ Biggest gameplay change seems to be “balanced the yields for mineral hotspots, particularly stellar metal deposits”. I saw one person say they got the same yield by just doubling the number of extractors, though. On the other hand the patch notes also have improvements to finding hotspots. The other big one is that it claims to fix the refiner reset issue.

You can still do that, yeah. But the "upload all" button isn't working, so mostly I just take the 10-15 for uploading systems and planets I rename and the 50 for finding the one registered animal on an anomaly planet to get milestones.
