Vintersorg posted:God those latest Star Wars sets are dire. Yeah, it's not often that the older version of a UCS set looks better than the newer one. Here's the UCS Yoda from 2002 and frankly they did a much better job with this one despite the blocky pixellated look.

Finally built the new Tantive IV. I like it (apart from all the stickers on the front), but I really didn't get the radar dish. You put a black liftarm through the ship, and secure it with a grey pin. I checked the box, and it's actually the handle, and I felt rather stupid because whenever I picked it up before, stuff fell of. I like that LEGO thinks about that stuff now, that you sometimes might have to pick a model up without destroying it.

That was apparently one of the big reasons they redesigned the carousel. The grand carousel was on a single large plate and it’d break apart from its own weight when the single plate deformed if you tried to pick it up.

Reminds me of a couple of the first UCS Star Wars models.... Also could you all please all stop buying the Liebherr? Normally, Technic stuff is discounted (by independant dealers) from the get go, but somehow the Liebherr seems to be different, and going into the other direction currently. I luckily have enough stuff to build, and hope it gets to something like 10 to 15% discount by the start of november.

I'd been eyeing up the UCS Y-Wing for a while, figuring it wasn't long for this world and with the force Friday discount in the UK it's a very reasonable £135, coupled with double VIP points and a sweet little Endor mini build so if like me you have no control over your impulses it's a great time to buy it

Great build. Very satisfying.

I feel like if I bought that, I'd have to buy the knockoff saturn v. I don't know if I could force my real one to have to live on a knockoff stand. Edit: If the price ratio holds up, this launch umbilical tower would cost around $320 as an actual Lego set. Cojawfee fucked around with this message at 02:14 on Oct 5, 2019 |

Lepinworld.com, official site of Lepin describes that product as: "With 3073 Pcs • Highest Quality bricks (Better than Lepin)" Can...can your product be better.... than itself?

Maybe they mean better than standard Lepin stuff. I assume that the normal Lepin sets are automatically sorted by machines since they make so many of them. It looks like the pieces for these MOCs are gathered manually or something because it says it takes a 10-12 days to prepare it. So maybe by "highest quality" they mean that if the person sees a piece is obviously missing plastic or is deformed, it won't be included.

Lol that you think the knockoff chinese lego company is introducing this level of quality control and isn't just writing whatever poo poo on their product page they think will make it sell

I just rewatched The Phantom Menace last night and it was a pretty good movie ruined by trying to inject too much slapstick humour into significant moments in battles IMO.

I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for TPM as I saw it for my 11th birthday, so I was the perfect age to get swept up in the hype but not really realise how bad it was. I haven't seen it in years and I don't really want to see it again since I don't want to ruin my memories of it. veni veni veni posted:Let's be fair they are equally terrible, although I guess the old one gets a few points for being the real Yoda instead of dumb light saber flipping prequel Yoda. I grew up with the PT and while I've basically outgrown thinking they're any good as movies, I still think the visual design is really good. A lot of the vehicles are totally on par with stuff from the OT.

I picked up Vader's Castle and the new Millennium Falcon yesterday, built the castle so far and man it looks drat good. Pretty stoked to get around the new Falcon.
