Dammit, I was with him until the end. But “more people voted for a leftist, so change the delegate rules” is something that never happened. I don’t want to relitigate the 2016 election yet again, but Clinton did get more votes than Sanders. You can argue about whether the party ran the primary poorly or had their thumb on the scale, but “real voters wanted Sanders and the DNC stole the election for Clinton, so might as well not vote” is propaganda that has been explicitly linked to Russian troll farms. It’s also really racist, as voters of color (especially black) overwhelmingly preferred Clinton.

The funding arrangement with HFA and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical. If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.

Those sorts of polls are utterly meaningless. Hillary Clinton has been in the spotlight for 25 years while most people had never heard of Bernie Sanders. If he’d gotten the nomination we would have had months of ads attacking him as a far left socialist who lived in the USSR and had a Soviet flag on his bedroom wall. He might still have won, but he also might have lost even worse. It’s impossible to know for sure.
