And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.

And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

Its still a stupid work: they wanted to get Brookes over as the heel in this match to get people to cheer Cara Noir and instead all that has happened in that the promotion looks dumb and made themselves the heel in the situation which you never want to do. Chris Brookes is someone that's incredibly popular at the moment (generally people that go to Japan and get themselves over are; partially because people respect international success and also because it tends to make people better wrestlers) so the whole strategy is just dumb.

The WWE thing where they make the promotion itself into a heel character is just so loving weird. Like, why would you as a wrestling fan want to give money to a promotion that's lovely and actively screwing over the people you're supposed to like?

It worked once because everyone hates their boss on some level. So yeah we identified with Austin and it saved the WWF from irrelevance and Vince has never come up with a second thing to do after that.

"It worked once so let's do it forever" is pretty much Vince's motto, huh?

Austin was a badass who beat the crap out of assholes. Repeatedly, like nearly every single night. That's why it worked. Vince/Austin was a unique take on it.

Now they still have the Vince/Austin factor, but now the heroes rarely win, which is the exact mindset that helped kill Vince's rivals in the first place.

It really feels like it was only done because they couldn't have McMahon be a top heel and the promoter and keep it separate for some reason. Like the McMahon vs. Austin angle was a heel stable fighting against the defiant babyface only the heel manager was also the company boss.

Doing it for as long as they did was a big factor in a lot of people distrusting them so much though. It worked with Austin since he was relatable and it was a fresh idea but after him they didn't really have that and they kept on loving people over to the point where people genuinely started believing that the company was loving with them for real and not just to build up storylines for later on. I think its a big part in why a lot of WWE fans don't care (just listen to the crowds): they've been socialised not to care and a big part of that is because they expect to be hosed with.

That's not even close to how the 1st amendment works.

It is correct in saying that if AEW plays a "don't be a dick, here's the rules" video and people ignore it, get bounced out of the show, then AEW has done all they can do.

I dunno if the people chanting got bounced or not, that's the key part here.

Yeah, it is always entertaining how the people who understand how the First Amendment works least always invoke it using language that makes it sounds like they’re the only ones who’ve ever heard of it.
