Hey friends, I have never got a flu shot as an adult because I have never gotten the flu. I think I have a strong immune system, knock on wood. I think I will be getting it this year because they are saying the flu and corona are going to really gently caress us this fall/winter. Any negatives to getting it after not taking it for like idk 15 years at least. Also, any shots I should re-up on? I hate going to the DR for reasons, and only go when I think I have cancer, knock on wood again. Anyway thanks for reading, we should all get flu shots this year though, right?!

I never got one until starting about 5 years ago. I've never had any kind of reaction. I've never had the flu except maybe once a dozen years ago. I'll get one because anything making it less likely to need care this winter is a plus. I'm going to try to be masked AND face shielded in the docs office or we I also want to get it as soon as it becomes available, the later in the yearthe more people are going to be covid pos

Time Cowboy posted:Here in Ohio all the hiking trails are swamped with people, and have been since mid-March. Places where I used to be able to hike without seeing another person are now too crowded for me to risk it. On top of everything else, all these new hikers don’t know how to treat resources with care and respect, so the trails and parks have deteriorated quite a bit. I’d been hoping that these people would start going back to the malls and Home Depots once those opened, but it’s been a month and trail use doesn’t seem to have gone down much. We’re in full denial of the whole thing here in NC. The annoying idiots stopped hiking and went back to crowding the pools and every bar/restaurant. Happy Hedonist posted:Same. Thanks, I wear a mask all the time, might be one of those weirdos you see wearing a mask in a car! If I am going to a few stores I keep it on until I am done. I'll talk to my Docs office, I had a virtual appoint on the phone a couple months ago to set up a PCP if I ever need a Covid test, it is a teaching hospital like on Scrubs so most of the Dr's are gone after 2 years or so. Is there a mask thread? I like the KN95s I bought with one way valve for 5 bux each, very cool to wear, easy breathing, but not the N95 seal I get with those, but these are ear masks, I think the N95s hold tighter because of the double straps behind the head. (I have these from Swine flu, cool down) also my dads neighbor who works at University Hospitals in Cleveland says they are paying 4bux per N95 when they order in the 100K's at a time, can any health goons confirm this?

Saw this photo of an American family from the 1918 Spanish Flu circling around. It's amazing how, a hundred years later, 50% of our population is somehow stupider in the face of a century of scientific progress. They're covering their noses too, and even the cat has a mask.

Some of them have bought into the "your mask doesn't protect you" thing. It's somewhat uncomfortable, and if it's useless theater why bother doing it right? Probably some fatigue, too. It all seems inevitable. I'm sure the shields do something. Most checkouts don't have 6 feet of space between the clerk and customer, and can't be easily altered to create the necessary distance. If someone coughs, sneezes or speaks moistly at you many of the droplets will hit the shield and stick to it. It won't stop fine aerosols from floating around in the air, but all the droplets that would fall harmlessly to the floor if the customer was more than six feet away will hit the shield instead of coating your workspace.

White Australians just don't wear masks and they've all but forgotten about social distancing, and now there's 20 new cases a day when for a weeks we were single digits. When I buy groceries I'm the only white guy wearing a masks. Kids stare at me like I'm a leper.
