https://letterboxd.com/jivjov/year/2020/ Please forgive the hilarious number of rewatches of some films. Among the general poo poo that was 2020, I went through a LOT of personal poo poo and retreated to comfort movies even harder than I normally would.

Not too bad, would've had more if I didn't give up on tv for awhile during the pandemic there. Good progress on my backlog but then also added a ton to it from recommendations from the various threads here. https://letterboxd.com/duz/year/2020/

Thanks to the pandemic I managed to log 368 movies this year, but that does include shorts. https://letterboxd.com/pospysyl/year/2020/

https://letterboxd.com/aewade/year/2020/ As with the last few years I'd aimed for a movie a day but you can see the point where final year uni stuff and mum's death hit. Still not a bad effort I think.

I'm contemplating upgrading to Pro to get the streaming controls, but does Pro let me select, for example, Hulu but without Starz? For example, sometimes I'll look up a movie on google and it'll say it's streaming on Hulu or Prime, but then it turns out that it's really the Starz or Showtime or Shudder etc channels working through Hulu. And since I don't have those channels I don't want to think the things on them are available.

# ? Jan 22, 2021 06:03 |

The channels are not included if you select Amazon Prime, you can select (some of) them on their own. I would assume it's the same for Hulu.

I'm incredibly late to the party here, but I'm pretty proud of my 2020 Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/taintrunner/year/2020/ Which includes a list for the 4 best Mark Dacascos movies, as well as 6 runners up - derived from watching 32 different Mark Dacascos films in which he is in a leading role, as well as a list for 10 incredible movies that I think most people have never seen, there should be at least a few worth checking out, especially if you're an action cinema fan. There's also a written review for every single movie I saw, all 127 of them.

You averaged over 2 films per day. How the hell does one do that? My watching 1 film per day feels like a massive accomplishment.

# ? Jan 23, 2021 04:28 |
Currently I'm watching ten films every Sunday, and then usually another four to six spread out throughout the week. During the challenge threads I was watching and reviewing four films a day, which still is nothing compared to a lot of the other people. Anything to escape the horrors of reality

Spatulater bro! posted:Oh yeah that's right, I forgot about the stream. Oh absolutely, I'm sure it's not the ideal environment in terms of engagement and retention, but it's more about the social experience and sharing with friends. I tend to also choose either films I've seen before, or films that are more visceral experiences rather than anything that's too plot-heavy. That said I've recently just been choosing films randomly from a suggestion pile, so it's been more of a free for all. It also helps that the small crowd I have are very incisive and great at picking out themes. Taintrunner posted:My record is like six movies in a row and thats only if Im playing flight sim 2020. During quarantine I've developed a kind of habit. A movie in the late afternoon/early evening when I'm relaxing from the day, a movie after dinner or while I'm eating, and a movie when I'm lying in bed. Sometimes its 2. Sometimes its 4 if I can't sleep or pop on something else. Occasionally I actually watch, read, or play something else. But I'm not going out or anything so every day I just line up the 2-4 films I want to watch and let it play out. I really can't engage during the long streams. 2 films I can if I put my laptop aside and only chat on my phone. But I can't sit there for 3+ films. I burn out and get stir crazy. Chill Streams actually tend to result in me taking random walks around the block just to move. But thats also what's inviting about them. I can just pop in and out as I please, especially if its films I'm familiar with or don't really care if I join in the middle of. Its just very relaxed and welcoming.

I’m sort of relieved to know it wasn’t just me - I struggled to start/watch/finish movies ~April-November. Although I did somehow watch the criterion edition of Until the End of the World in one sitting in May. On top of the existential crisis of living in a pandemic, I also moved across the country in the fall so I was an anxious mess for like 6 months. But as soon as I settled down in my new home I was able to get right back into it. I watched almost 60 movies between November and December.
