Phil probably slapped his poo poo and told him to get the gently caress out of his home.

Yeah, they never covered that in the main series. I heard there's a 4 koma that shows what happened and that's it.

A minor quibble, but I am still perplexed about how tall Norman was supposed to be.

Possibly more TPN on the way. https://comicbook.com/anime/amp/news/the-promised-neverland-could-return-new-manga/ Could be a sequel/continuation or some side-stories.

Bringing this back because it seems like a bad idea to talk about in the anime thread but uh...things look like they might be going pretty differently in the anime? Is this because of the reaction to the manga's ending?

The only parts of the middle of PN I can remember are Goldy Pond and what happened in this episode, so maybe skipping it isn't the worst idea.

Did they cut Yuugo entirely or will this just be filler, they'll get ANOTHER shelter, and then the stuff with Yuugo will happen? If they're skipping stuff it's likely they're going to try to get to the ending this season then.

Is this because of the reaction to the manga's ending? There wasn't anything super wrong with the manga's ending, though? Some pacing issues, and I wasn't fond of the way Ratri had absurd plot armor for a few chapters just so he could die more dramatically, but it wasn't an actually bad ending like, say, Bleach's. I guess you could complain that the amnesia thing was a bit of a cop-out, and the price Emma paid to the Unpronounceable Demon God should have been turning into a demon and having to stay in the Demon World with Musica instead of going to the Human World with the other children. Man what, they cut Yuugo? gently caress the ending, the journey was the good part of this manga. I didn't even know there was a second season yet.

They had also cut put the part where Musica tells them to look for the seven walls. I legit have no idea where they're going with things anymore and am not sure how to process it.

Oh, apparently before the season even aired they said that it was going to be an "original scenario" supervised by the author of the manga, so anything could happen. I'm actually a lot more interested in the show now. Sindai fucked around with this message at 18:47 on Jan 29, 2021 |

I'd be more interested if these changes didn't feel way more slapdash and random and replaced with poo poo that adds nothing to the story, characters, or setting. The "HELP!" room is still there, episode 3 ends on a cliffhanger with it being found and then episode 4 completely disregards that so Emma can learn the entire plot of the show from the Minerva phone call. There's just so much poo poo that doesn't exist anymore, and in return we're....getting more of the kids standing around in the bunker talking. Oh boy!

It also makes no sense given that western opinions aside, based on the sale the series was consistently well liked throughout its run. This just really makes no sense to me since simply modifying and streamlining certain parts and doing more in terms of character interactions would have fixed most of the issues with the extended cast. Someone elsewhere compared it to how they did FMA '03 with its direction, but the series hadn't ended yet(and was ultimately overshadowed by Brotherhood which followed the manga) hence this one not making any sense.

Maybe the intent's meant to be like, we probably won't get a third season, so we want to hit the end in one season's worth of episodes, but it'd be too much to just cut and slap around, so lets write an original path to the end?

That arguably sounds worse since it's skipping...SO MUCH STUFF and be so badly discombobulated because of it. I just don't see this ending well...AT ALL.

There has to be better ways to handle that, considering the result is the fourth episode basically having nothing happening for 90% of it.

OK I found a post on ANN about this new development that may explain things.quote:Actually, the Goldy Pond was never even meant to be in the manga. Edit: For all of the flaws and criticism it got, I loved TPN from be9to end and while some parts could have used some more time cooking in the oven or having been better fleshed out, I felt it was incredibly good all around so I'm still not quite sure how I feel about these changes. doomrider7 fucked around with this message at 05:53 on Jan 31, 2021 |

I thought Goldy Pond was great for giving us a preview of demon social hierarchy (and also the little monkey guy. love him).

I loved it because it showed us the horrors that the kids that escaped had to endure in the worst of cases along with complicating aspects that as monstrous as they are, they DO feel emotions, like when the demon Nous very visibly mourns his sister which temporarily throws the kids off. The raid also lacked the trauma impact of the kids discovering that there are humans who side with the demons and see them as nothing but cattle bred for slaughter who need to know their place. doomrider7 fucked around with this message at 20:11 on Jan 31, 2021 |

Wasn't that incorrect and that it was a recap, but a 0.5 type if thing instead of a full on episode? Either way, I've lost interest and it make me feel like loving crap since I was looking forward to these next few arcs.
