#5 Hans Nitschke (11-5, OVR 447) vs. #4 Jack Braddock (10-6, OVR 485) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE—OPENING ROUND Tess Bradenbury: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Season Two Playoffs! Eleven matches on the card, headlined by an Iron Person match to crown the RRW Champion! I’m Tess Bradenbury, sitting here at ringside as always with Johnny Tyler. Johnny, we’ve got a incredibly tough field of twelve looking to become RRW Champion. Who walks away with the belt tonight? Johnny Tyler: I’m going to reference an old sports line here, Tess. “To be the man, you have to beat the man!” Lance Heartilly is the reigning champ, and half of the reigning tag champs. Picking against him is a fool’s errand! Tess Bradenbury: A lot of the pundits are agreeing with you, Johnny. For me, I’ve got it as a toss-up between Reverend Johnny Gross and Brian Blackfield; I have them in my final round but I can’t decide on a winner. But we’ll find out in just a few hours’ time, as we’re about to get started with our first match of the evening. Johnny Tyler: This seems a bit of a mismatch, doesn’t it? Tess Bradenbury: I don’t think so, Johnny. Hans Nitschke could have won a lot of other divisions if he was in them, instead of being in the same division as Gross, and this bout against Jack Braddock should be rather interesting. Johnny Tyler: I think Braddock takes it here. The first of many pummelings to be dealt tonight! Tess Bradenbury: Regardless, all of the principals seem ready…there’s the bell, and the season two playoffs are officially underway! quote:(00:04) Braddock blocked a Handshake Kick To Gut Tess Bradenbury: Early mistake by Braddock there, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: It’s part of the plan, Tess. Lure him into a sense of security, and then bam! Dim the running lights and drop him to the mat! quote:(04:51) Doktor picked up Braddock from behind Johnny Tyler: What’d I tell you, Tess? This is going to escalate quickly from here, mark my words! Tess Bradenbury: If Braddock can keep that pressure going, he’s certainly going to get the advantage with the first fall of the contest! quote:(09:27) Braddock hit a Leaping Elbow Drop Tess Bradenbury: Braddock not even wasting any time, dropping into the cover…one…two…three! Braddock takes the first fall! Johnny Tyler: He doesn’t even seem to be that winded, Tess! Nitschke needs to make a comeback STAT if he wants any chance of making this interesting! quote:(12:47) Doktor hit an Eye Poke Johnny Tyler: Welp, never mind! Tess Bradenbury: Braddock into the cover…one…two…three! Braddock wins two straight and promptly ejects Nitschke from the playoffs in swift fashion! Johnny Tyler: Tess, we’ve seen one-fall matches last longer than this. Braddock put on an exhibition, plain and simple! Tess Bradenbury: Braddock now gets to wait and see who his opponent will be in the next round, and one would have to think that after such a quick match, he’d have the advantage in the second round! Jack Braddock def. Hans Nitschke, Two Falls to None, in 15:17. Rating: * Fall 1: Braddock, pin via Jack Attack, 12:43 Fall 2: Braddock, pin via Jack Attack, 15:17 Changes for Jack Braddock: SPR + 3.01 Changes for Hans Nitschke: SPR -0.92 #5 Hailey Carmichael (12-4, OVR 488) vs. #4 Mel O’Hallister (11-5, OVR 448) RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE—OPENING ROUND Tess Bradenbury: Let’s move to the other side of the brackets now, where the other half of the former tag champs, Hailey Carmichael, is set to face the newcomer Mel O’Hallister. Johnny Tyler: Yeah, everything we just saw with Braddock? More of the same here. O’Hallister kind of got lucky slipping his scrawny self into the big man’s division title, but this is where his miracle run ends! Tess Bradenbury: O’Hallister came in, told the competition commitee that he wanted in the Red Division where he was outweighed by his own weight in most cases, and proceeded to dominate the division. Carmichael was in contention for the Blue Division title right until the final week, when a loss to Lance Heartilly sealed her fate as the number-five seed. This should be an interesting bout! Johnny Tyler: Until Hailey chokes Mel out with his own arms! Hailey rolls here, calling it! Tess Bradenbury: We’ll see soon enough, as the ref calls for the bell and our second opening-round match is underway! quote:(00:09) O'Hallister very easily avoided an Eye Poke. Johnny Tyler: Ignore the ref, Hailey, keep on him! Tess Bradenbury: She already has a manager, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: She has a servant, not a manager, Tess! When was the last time Leslie Burrell did anything of note? Tess Bradenbury: …hell, you got me there. Johnny Tyler: Exactly. Stay on him, Hailey! quote:(05:24) O'Hallister avoided a Stomp. Tess Bradenbury: Carmichael needs to be careful. She doesn’t want to be put into possible disqualification territory. Johnny Tyler: It’s still early, Tess. Nothing at all to worry about! Tess Bradenbury: I don’t see you inside that ring. Johnny Tyler: Because I’m too smart for that; I’m needed out here! Tess Bradenbury: Oh, brother…. quote:(11:17) O'Hallister very easily avoided a Stomp Flurry. Tess Bradenbury: Hailey with the first big move of the match earlier; that VSCOverleaf may not submit anyone but it certainly hurts! Johnny Tyler: You say that like you’ve angered Hailey enough to have it applied to you. Tess Bradenbury: No, Johnny, just looking at the torque she applies on the hold is enough! Johnny Tyler: Just keep telling yourself that, Tess. quote:(16:41) Hailey hit a Running Cheating Roll Up Johnny Tyler: Call it, ref! First fall to Hailey! Tess Bradenbury: She’s got him right in the center of the ring, too! O’Hallister trying to find an escape…but can’t get there, and has to submit! Hailey Carmichael wins the first fall! Johnny Tyler: It’s all a piece of cake from here. You’ve gotten one, Hailey, now finish the job! quote:(22:24) Hailey blocked a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: Wait, what?! Tess Bradenbury: O’Hallister quick into the cover…one…two…no! Carmichael kicks out at two and a half! O’Hallister cannot believe it; he just delivered his best shot and Hailey Carmichael kicked out of the Dream of the Emerald Isle! Johnny Tyler: Come on, Hailey, roll out of the ring, get Burrell involved, something! You need time to recover! quote:(24:13) O'Hallister got a two count Johnny Tyler: Yes! It’s over! Ring the bell, ref! Tess Bradenbury: Don’t be so sure, Johnny. It hasn’t even been three minutes since she got dropped on the back of her head. If O’Hallister is going to find an escape from this hold, he won’t have a better opportunity! Johnny Tyler: Like that would happen when Hailey has….oh, no. Tess Bradenbury: O’Hallister’s trying to wiggle free, rocking back and forth to try to weaken the grip Hailey has…and with a violent jerk he breaks free! O’Hallister escapes the #NoFilter, but how much damage did it do? Johnny Tyler: Enough, that’s how much. Finish this, Hailey! quote:(27:00) Hailey hit a Running Schoolboy Roll Up Tess Bradenbury: And this time she has it locked on tight! Johnny Tyler: That’s it, it’s over! No one gets out of this hold twice! Tess Bradenbury: O’Hallister’s trying the same trick that worked last time, but Hailey shifts her weight with him this time, and is not giving Mel a chance of finding a weakpoint! It can’t be too much…yes, there it is! O’Hallister gives it up, and Hailey Carmichael takes down the Red Division Champion in one heck of an opening round match! Johnny Tyler: That was closer than I’d have liked. Who does she have next? Tess Bradenbury: We’ll find out later, Johnny. But for now, Carmichael has a chance to try to recover a little as she moves on to the second round! Hailey Carmichael def. Mel O'Hallister, Two Falls to None, in 27:49. Rating: **** Fall 1: Carmichael, submission via #NoFilter, 22:19 Fall 2: Carmichael, submission via #NoFilter, 27:49 Changes for Hailey Carmichael: SPR + 7.90 Changes for Mel O'Hallister: SPR + 1.87

#6 Pulsar (9-7, OVR 492) vs. #3 Daniel Simmons (11-5, OVR 496) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE—OPENING ROUND Tess Bradenbury: Back to the Wrestlehut side of the bracket we go, as the Green Division champion Daniel Simmons faces the veteran luchador, Pulsar. Johnny Tyler: I might not like Simmons much as a person—he’s too honest for my liking—but I don’t see Pulsar winning two falls here. That Zodiac Implosion is too much of a liability. Tess Bradenbury: I’m inclined to agree. Simmons has his Blue Collar Driver, and his Quitting Time submission. Either one alone would be a safer bet to finish a match; with both in the arsenal I don’t see Simmons dropping this one. But we’ve been wrong before; that’s why they wrestle the matches in the ring, folks! Johnny Tyler: Except we won’t be wrong here. I’m 2-for-2 so far, no need to ruin perfection! Tess Bradenbury: Regardless, there’s the bell, and match number three on the night is officially underway! quote:(00:03) Simmons hit a Bell Clap Tess Bradenbury: If Pulsar is going to pull out the win here, he’s going to need to stick to that mentality. He needs to be faster than Simmons, and keep the tempo fast. If he can mentally unbalance Simmons with his speed, that may be his biggest advantage. Johnny Tyler: Counterpoint, Tess. Being quick is well and good, but everyone is the same speed when they’re staring up at the lights. All Simmons needs is one good shot to ruin those plans! quote:(03:43) Pulsar hit a Fist Drop Tess Bradenbury: Valuable time to recover here for Simmons, and we have to call attention to the laceration on his forehead, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: Indeed. It doesn’t matter if you’ve won a fall earlier; if the ref says it’s too dangerous to continue, that’s the end of it right then and there. We had a European Rules match end via blood stoppage; the officials will not hesitate to do it in the playoffs if it comes down to it! Tess Bradenbury: Meanwhile outside the ring, Pulsar seems to have gathered his wits about him, and here he comes back into the squared circle. Can Simmons press this newfound advantage? quote:(08:41) Simmons hit an Inverted Atomic Drop Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar looking for an early advantage here, he wants that Zodiac Implosion. And Simmons is right in the drop zone! Johnny Tyler: If Pulsar hits this, it could be huge! Tess Bradenbury: He looks ready, there’s the jump…and Simmons rolls out of the way! Pulsar crashes hard into the mat, and Simmons quickly goes into the cover! One…two…three! Pulsar takes a huge risk, and it does not pay off as Daniel Simmons takes the first fall! Johnny Tyler: Simmons’ job just got easier! Put him away! quote:(11:56) Simmons broke a Sunset Flip Tess Bradenbury: And now Simmons makes the mistake! Johnny Tyler: He’s not likely to be pinned, but Pulsar could soften him up some more here! quote:(18:06) Simmons avoided a Running Seated Dropkick. Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar moves into the cover…one…two…three! Pulsar evens the match one at a fall apiece! Johnny Tyler: Next big mistake is going to end it, Tess! quote:(20:43) Pulsar hit a Dropkick To Knee Tess Bradenbury: Here’s the count…one…two…three?! Pulsar got him?! Johnny Tyler: How in the heck? Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar had the legs over the shoulders and managed to hold Simmons down just long enough! Minor upset here, as Pulsar takes down the Green Division champion! Johnny Tyler: Aw, hell, there goes my brackets! Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar now faces Reverend Johnny Gross in the second round, while Jack Braddock has Billy Norris in his sights in the next round! Pulsar def. Daniel Simmons, Two Falls to One in 25:14. Johnny Tyler: There’s no way Nagata wins this, Tess. Can you recall the last time he even attempted a finisher? Tess Bradenbury: He hasn’t needed to, Johnny. That Nagata Special of his has been doing an admirable job of finishing the matches for him! Johnny Tyler: Maybe, but these are the playoffs. He needs to step up his game or he’s going to be bounced out in short order! Tess Bradenbury: We’ll see soon enough, as the bell sounds! quote:(00:07) Eugene hit a Comedy Tickle Tess Bradenbury: Nagata trying to wear down Nakamatsu early; is this a strategy you agree with? Johnny Tyler: Not really. Yoshii’s more geared for a wear-down style of offense. Nagata likes to strike, those short hooks are his favorite weapon of choice. If he’s going to stick to this hare-brained idea of finishing with that damnable suplex of his, he needs to take a page from Braddock and Glenn Knight’s book, and just lay into Nakamatsu here! quote:(04:32) Eugene hit a Straight Right Johnny Tyler: Kind of like that, just not missing! Tess Bradenbury: Yoshii has taken several hard shots in the last minute or two; will be able to capitalize on this opening? Johnny Tyler: If he knows what’s best for him, he will. Otherwise Nagata may just knock him out with those hooks! quote:(10:01) Nakamatsu hit an Open Handed Chop Johnny Tyler: One! That was just a count of one! This is not going to work for Nagata, I’ve been saying it! Tess Bradenbury: He may have escaped one, Johnny, true. But the second? The third? The fifth? Eventually he’s going to be so worn down that he just can’t kick out, and I’m sure that’s what Nagata is aiming for here. Johnny Tyler: Still a stupid plan when you can just knock the man out with your knees. quote:(14:23) Nakamatsu countered a Low Blow with a Knife Edge Chop Tess Bradenbury: Was that desperation on the part of Nagata? Johnny Tyler: He’s not saying, except for glaring at the official and pointing to the mat, Tess! Looks like he’s going to score a fall right here! Tess Bradenbury: The ref grudgingly obliges…one…two…three! First fall to Nagata in rather dubious fashion! Johnny Tyler: I doubt he can get away with that a second time, Tess. Now, let’s see if he actually adjusts his strategy here. I wouldn’t bet on it, honestly. quote:(18:08) Nakamatsu applied a Hammerlock Tess Bradenbury: Quick cover by Nakamatsu: one…two…three! We’re tied at a fall apiece! Johnny Tyler: And Nakamatsu has the clear advantage—he’s not afraid to go for his finisher! This is going to end real fast if Nakamatsu connects one more time! quote:(22:15) Nakamatsu blocked a Jab Punch Johnny Tyler: That’s like the fifth one, Nagata, what makes you think this will do it? Tess Bradenbury: Cover by Eugene, hooking both legs…one…two…three! Johnny Tyler: He did what?! Tess Bradenbury: Nagata finally caught all of the Nagata Special, and just as I mentioned earlier, Johnny, he wore down Nakamatsu enough that eventually Yoshii wouldn’t be able to kick out. Nagata moves on to face Brian Blackfield, and a Blue Division rematch is in the books as the advancing Hailey Carmichael sets her sights on the reigning RRW Champion, Lance Heartilly! Johnny Tyler: Oh, drat it all, I was hoping for those two to meet in the conference championship! Eugene Nagata def. Yoshii Nakamatsu, Two Falls to One, in 23:54. #2 Billy Norris (11-5, OVR 492) vs. #4 Jack Braddock (11-6, OVR 485) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE—SECOND ROUND Tess Bradenbury: It only gets tougher from here, as we enter the second round of the playoffs! We start with Jack Braddock, who dispatched Hans Nitschke in short order, facing a rested Billy Norris. Johnny Tyler: You mean “pummeling Billy Norris!” Norris is going to show off one time too many, miss his disaster kick, and Braddock will be there to pounce on the opportunity! Tess Bradenbury: That very well may be, but we’ll know for sure by the end of the match, Johnny. Both men have checked over by the official, and there’s the bell to open the second round of the playoffs! quote:(00:04) Braddock blocked a Front Facelock Tess Bradenbury: It feels to me like Norris has controlled most of the opening part of this match, Johnny. Do you think it’s the faster tempo Norris is trying to bring about? Johnny Tyler: That, and Norris having gotten to rest the entire first round. If Jack’s going to make a comeback, there’s no better time to start than right now! quote:(05:13) Norris got a rope break to stop a Front Facelock Johnny Tyler: Braddock simply will not let him out of the corner! The grand beauty of the pummeling continues! Tess Bradenbury: Braddock certainly has the upper hand at the moment, but he needs to keep up the pressure. If he gives Norris room to move, he could be staring in the face of a Down Under Disaster in a heartbeat! quote:(08:58) Braddock hit an Elbow Drop Johnny Tyler: He hits the damned DDT after what, a half dozen attempts? What is this, Nagata all over again? Tess Bradenbury: No, Johnny. Norris doesn’t use the Boomerang DDT to end the match. We all know what’s coming. That DDT is the usual precursor to the Down Under Disaster, and Braddock is ripe for the picking here! quote:(13:14) Norris hit a Running Half Senton Johnny Tyler: Oh, man, that was flush to the temple! Tess Bradenbury: Cover by Norris…one…two…three! Billy Norris gets the first fall, and Braddock desperately to get back on track in a hurry to avoid being swept out in the second round! Johnny Tyler: Come on, Jack! Pummel the guy! quote:(15:10) Braddock slipped out of the back of a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: That was three, ref! Tess Bradenbury: No, Johnny. Two and a half, maybe. Not even close to three. But Norris needs to watch out; he’s lost more than one match to a missed kick in the past! quote:(18:19) Billy Norris on the wrong end of that Spinning Back Fist by Braddock there! Johnny Tyler: Come on, Jack, get up! Tess Bradenbury: Cover by Norris, hooking the far leg…one…two…three! The rest does Norris a favor, as he takes down Braddock in two straight falls to move on! Johnny Tyler: drat it all, I had Braddock winning this side of the bracket! You ruined everything, Norris! Tess Bradenbury: And yet I doubt he cares. Johnny Tyler: Well, he should! Billy Norris def. Eugene Nagata has his works cut out for him, as he looks to eliminate the entirety of the Yellow Division presence in these playoffs. He got through Yoshii Nakamatsu earlier; now he faces a much tougher task in the Yellow Division champion, Brian Blackfield. Johnny Tyler: And he thinks that suplex is going to be the ticket to winning the match? Tess Bradenbury: I don’t see why not, Johnny. Blackfield seems to get his adrenaline rushes when someone hits an impact finisher. The Nagata Knockout is an impact finisher. So why not avoid it altogether? Johnny Tyler: I’ll believe that works when I see it. quote:(00:04) Blackfield hit a Slap To Chest Tess Bradenbury: Fairly even match through the opening minutes so far. Johnny Tyler: Nagata needs far better than even to stand a chance here; Shat Sonnen needs to motivate his client better! Tess Bradenbury: You want to go tell him that? Johnny Tyler: I’m comfortable right here, thank you! quote:(05:19) Blackfield applied a Side Headlock Johnny Tyler: That’s the sort of offensive flurry Nagata needed, but he gave Blackfield a chance to get back in this. Tess Bradenbury: And Blackfield rarely needs more than one opening to take advantage. If Nagata’s not careful, this could turn sour for him real quick! quote:(11:50) Blackfield applied a Cravate Tess Bradenbury: Blackfield holds on for the cover…one…two…three! Blackfield goes up a fall, Johnny, and Nagata is— Johnny Tyler: Don’t sugarcoat it, Tess. Nagata is screwed. The worst thing he could have had happen was Blackfield to get a fall up on him. Now he needs to go for the Nagata Knockout, and risk triggering Blackfield. This is not going to end well! quote:(17:02) Brian Blackfield makes Eugene Nagata feel the full fury of the Tartan Effect! Johnny Tyler: Told you! Tess Bradenbury: Cover by Blackfield…one…two…three! Blackfield wastes no time here, eliminating Nagata and moving on to the Ringsports Conference championship bout! Johnny Tyler: The thing is, Tess, whomever faces him there may have an advantage. Blackfield doesn’t go postal off submission holds, and both Heartilly and Hailey specialize in them! #1 Lance Heartilly (12-4, OVR 496) vs. #5 Hailey Carmichael (13-4, OVR 488) RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE—SECOND ROUND Tess Bradenbury: We now come to the “Johnny Tyler’s Existential Crisis” match. He picked Heartilly to win it all, but on the opposite side of the ring is one of his favorites, Hailey Carmichael. Still sticking to Lance here, Johnny? Johnny Tyler: Given how Lance went throught the playoffs in Season One, and then in Tag Team Turmoil this season, the only people with a shot of slowing him down are Jack Braddock and Hailey Carmichael, the Season One Tag Team Turmoil champions. With Braddock eliminated, I think Hailey is the field’s last hope. If she can’t derail Lance here, he’s going on to win it all. Tess Bradenbury: I notice how you haven’t answered my question, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: And you’ll be happy to keep noticing that! Tess Bradenbury: With that said, both combatants are in the ring, and there’s the bell! This rematch from the Blue Division is underway! quote:(00:07) Heartilly applied a Standing Arm Bar Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly already starting to get on the referee’s bad side. Not the best of ideas. Johnny Tyler: When has that ever stopped…well, either one of these two, Tess? Tess Bradenbury: I hate to admit it but you have a point. quote:(06:08) Heartilly hit a Stomp To Groin Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly looking to try to end things early here! Johnny Tyler: He knows like the rest of us that if he lets Hailey stick around in this one, it could come back to bite him. Go to the arms, it weakens the grip of her finisher. Smart strategy here by the champ, even if I’m not liking it. Tess Bradenbury: So you do want Hailey to win? Johnny Tyler: Just call the match, Tess. quote:(12:25) Hailey blocked a Kneeling Jaw Breaker Tess Bradenbury: He’s got her dead center of the ring! Hailey’s trying to turn it over, but Heartilly is basically making himself dead weight here to keep the smaller Carmichael from turning them over! Johnny Tyler: She’s got to realize that her best chance is just to concede the fall, and storm back! Tess Bradenbury: I think she heard you, Johnny, as there’s the tap! Heartilly takes the first fall, and could be on the verge of reaching the conference finals yet again! quote:(15:47) Hailey applied a Hammerlock Johnny Tyler: Oh, hell. Fight it, Hailey! Tess Bradenbury: She’s certainly trying, attempting to leverage both of them over…she’s almost got them over, but Heartilly shifts his weight the other way and back to the regular position they go! Carmichael can’t take too much more of this…and indeed, there’s the tap! Nothing to fault Hailey for in that match, but Lance has had her number since RRW started. That holds true here, as Hailey fails to get her first victory against Heartilly tonight. Johnny Tyler: I can see her putting time this season in working on countering that move; there’s no way Lance sweeps her next season as well! Tess Bradenbury: So our first conference championship match is now set—Brian Blackfield steps up to attempt to knock the reigning RRW Champion from his perch. That should be a hell of a bout! Lance Heartilly def. Hailey Carmichael, Two Falls to None, in 22:51. Pulsar, who came off a hard-fought victory over Daniel Simmons, has a monumental task ahead of him as the top seed in the conference, the always-dangerous Reverend Johnny Gross, awaits him. Johnny Tyler: Honestly, I’m shocked Pulsar won last round. No chance he does it again. None. Tess Bradenbury: How certain are you on this? Johnny Tyler: I’d put money on it if I was able to. Tess Bradenbury: We’ll see if you’re right, Johnny. Both men are in the ring, Pulsar appears to be moving a little gingerly which isn’t surprising given that first round match. The official calls for the bell, and our final match of the second round has begun! quote:(00:04) Pulsar hit a Knife Edge Chop Tess Bradenbury: That’s not going to do Pulsar’s back any favors! Johnny Tyler: And this is why Gross moves on, Tess. Pulsar’s too stubborn to change his offense to account for injuries. Gross has no qualms about taking that advantage for all he can. Tess Bradenbury: If Gross does just that, Johnny, this one could indeed be over quickly. quote:(04:56) Rev. Gross picked up Pulsar Johnny Tyler: And Gross already starting to focus on the head of Pulsar. Softening him up even more for that dragon sleeper of his! Tess Bradenbury: Indeed, Johnny. The more shots Pulsar takes to the head, the more likely he is to succumb to that hold. And the figurative clock is ticking down. quote:(09:16) Rev. Gross picked up Pulsar Johnny Tyler: There it is! Call it now, ref, that’s the first fall! Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar wasted no time there, quickly tapping out! Gross earns the first fall and looks to end this quickly, knowing that Billy Norris is waiting just around the corner! quote:(11:09) Pulsar hit a Puñetazo Johnny Tyler: Is that quick enough for you, Tess? Tess Bradenbury: Pulsar trying to break out of the hold; his season is at stake here. But Gross has that dragon sleeper on deep, and Pulsar’s left with no choice but to tap before he passes out! Johnny Tyler: I told you it was a given, Tess. Gross and Norris for the conference title. Now what I expected but this should be an interesting mix of sty— Tess Bradenbury: Wait a sec, Johnny. What the hell is Billy Norris doing coming out here? His next match is supposed to be after the Ringsports Conference Championship! Reverend Johnny Gross def. Pulsar, Two Falls to None, in 16:49. There’s been a change in the schedule! Tess Bradenbury: Johnny, you know anything about this? Johnny Tyler: No, this is news to me! Billy Norris: See, I want my shot at you right now. None o’ this waiting malarkey. I want to kick your face so hard you’ll kiss the drat moon, and I don’t want to wait to do it! Reverend Gross, having heard about as much of this as he cares to, just waves off Norris and drops to the mat, rolling out of the ring in front of the commentary table. Norris slides in the ring behind him, microphone still in hand. Billy Norris: What’s wrong, God-boy? Afraid your so-called almighty isn’t going to let you do something out of order? Or are you that afraid of a little fire bath, eh? One can almost see the moment that Norris’ barbs managed to anger the preacher. No one, and by the Lord he meant NO ONE, was going to preach to him about hellfire. Turning towards the ring, Gross stares down Norris, and the Australian’s face seems to lose a little bit of color as Gross slides inside. The ref comes over to try to talk some sense, but Gross bellows, in his pulpit voice, to ring the bell. The official, after pausing a moment, lets out a sigh and calls for the bell, signaling the first of two Conference Championship matches had just begun….

#1 Reverend Johnny Gross (13-4, OVR 495) vs. #2 Billy Norris (12-5, OVR 492) WRESTLEHUT CONFERENCE FINALS quote:(00:03) Rev. Gross hit a Punch Tess Bradenbury: I might not like the plan laid out by Norris there, but you have to admit it’s worked so far. Weather the early emotional storm, find the opening to counter, and go right to the head of the opponent. Johnny Tyler: Given who’s in this match, on most nights I’d give the advantage to Reverend Gross. Norris may have taken that away, and Gross could pay for his hubris! I have to agree, Tess, this was a well-laid plan so far by Billy Norris! Tess Bradenbury: It remains to be seen whether he keeps this advantage, however, as he looks to maintain control over Gross here! quote:(04:23) Norris used a Slit Throat Motion Johnny Tyler: Was that an avoidance or just a simple collapse from exhaustion on Gross’ part? Tess Bradenbury: I think a little of both, Johnny. Regardless, it’s effective as Gross has a few seconds to compose himself before trying to press his newfound opening. quote:(07:45) Norris blocked a Jab Punch Tess Bradenbury: Norris seems to be zeroing in with every miss of the Down Under Disaster, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: He just needs to watch how he lands. A wrong stumble and Gross is going to roll him up to take advantage! Tess Bradenbury: Wouldn’t be the first time, after all. But Gross needs to find an offensive counter to that move, and find it fast! quote:(12:44) Norris blocked a Knee Plant Johnny Tyler: That would certainly count as a counter to the Disaster! Tess Bradenbury: Gross is determined to not let go, as he fights against Norris’ attempts to squirm to the ropes. That right arm is clamped tight around the neck of Norris, and there’s the tap! Reverend Gross is a fall away from punching a ticket into the RRW Championship match! Johnny Tyler: And right about now, you have to wonder if Norris is regretting his decision to provoke Gross before their scheduled time! quote:(15:36) Norris reversed an irish whip Johnny Tyler: Oh, drat, and he dropped into the body scissors too! Norris has nowhere to go! Tess Bradenbury: Norris still trying to fight out of it, find an escape path, but he’s starting to sag, Johnny. I’m not sure how much longer the ref is going to let this go on! Johnny Tyler: Looks like he heard you, Tess. He’s calling for the bell, and this one is over! Tess Bradenbury: But Gross isn’t letting go of the hold! Come on, Johnny, you’ve won the match, that’s enough! Johnny Tyler: And…finally, after about another eight or nine seconds, Gross drops the dragon sleeper, and Norris is passed the hell out, Tess! Reverend Gross wanted to send a statement, and he certainly did there! Tess Bradenbury: With that emphatic win, Gross will be competing for the RRW Championship tomorrow night, against an opponent to be determined next! Reverend Johnny Gross def. Billy Norris, Two Falls to None, in 16:43. Johnny Tyler: First off, there’s only men left. Why not call it an Iron Man match? Tess Bradenbury: because we’re trying to be progressive, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: …good point. But second, I’m sticking with my original pick. Heartilly is moving on to defend his title! Tess Bradenbury: Both men have only gone through one match earlier—a benefit of earning a bye during the season—and now they stand here ready to go to war for a shot at gold. The official calls for the bell, and here we go! quote:(00:09) Blackfield hit a Standing Head Scissors Twist Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly seems a bit slow to start this match, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: He’s being cautious with Blackfield. The man is RRW Champion for a reason, Tess. Let the man work; everything will come in time. quote:(05:07) Blackfield hit a Forearm Blow Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly with some good offense there, but leaving his feet for that elbow drop was— Johnny Tyler: Yeah, he may have been involved in the moment, Tess. But it’s still early. Once Blackfield starts trying the Tartan Effect, that is when Lance needs to start worrying. Until then, it’s all part of the plan. quote:(10:18) Lance Heartilly moved out of the way from a Big Legdrop. Tess Bradenbury: Blackfield may have just saved himself from going down a fall there! Johnny Tyler: You’re probably right. This whole roster seems prone to low blows, Tess, and in their second match of the night? Probably would have done the trick. quote:(14:30) Blackfield picked up Heartilly Johnny Tyler: Kind of like now! Cover him, Lance! Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly lets the ref get his argument out before sneering and dropping into a cover! One…two…three! Lance Heartilly is one fall away from defending his championship in the finals! Johnny Tyler: Just a matter of time, Tess. Print the shirts, Lance is going all the way yet again! quote:(16:16) Blackfield applied a Cravate Tess Bradenbury: Blackfield’s looking like he’s trying to psyche himself up, to block out the pain, but Heartilly is punching the knee of Blackfield while in that hold! Johnny Tyler: He wants to make sure he ends this here! Tess Bradenbury: Blackfield’s trying to maneuver both of them towards the ropes, but…what is Heartilly doing now? Is he… Johnny Tyler: He’s digging his fingers into the back of Blackfield’s knee! Trying to press on the tendon there, I think…wait, Blackfield’s tapping! Tess Bradenbury: That has to be one of the most unique tweaks to the figure four I’ve ever seen, Johnny. I’m still not sold on how effective it actually was, but Heartilly has done the near improbable and reached the Finals for two straight seasons! Lance Heartilly def. Lance Heartilly: No, no, no. We’re not waiting for tomorrow night! I don’t need the rest, and Reverend Gross got a chance to rest for the last half hour. Come on out here, Johnny, and let’s do this here and now! Tess Bradenbury: Is Lance out of his mind? Surely he doesn’t intend to wrestle for another hour after two matches tonight! Johnny Tyler: Tess, he is THE pinnacle of RRW right now. If he says he can go, he can probably do it and not think twice! Lance Heartilly: Come on, Johnny! As the reigning RRW Champion for one more match, I’m exercising my prerogative to start this bout early! Come on out here, so I can beat you like I did Glenn Knight last season and get back to Calgary, where this belt belongs! Tess Bradenbury: Did he really just insinuate that he’s going to pull a 17-0 victory for the second year running? Johnny Tyler: And who are you to doubt Lance Heartilly?! There is a brief silence, and Lance is about to speak again when Reverend Johnny Gross emerges from backstage. Officials are seen asking him to turn around, to save the match for tomorrow when both men are rested, but Gross is having none of it. Gross slides into the ring, a thin smile crossing his face as he nods at Heartilly. The cameras are able to pick up Gross’s words. Reverend Gross: You heard the man. Ring the bell, and let’s settle this!

Wrestlehut Conference Champion Reverend Johnny Gross (14-4, OVR 495) vs. Ringsports Conference Champion Lance Heartilly (14-4, OVR 496) RRW CHAMPIONSHIP—60-MINUTE IRON PERSON MATCH quote:(00:04) Heartilly blocked a Jab Punch Tess Bradenbury: I’m going to go on record, Johnny, and question Gross’ motives here. What does he gain by doing this tonight when he could have a night to rest and plan his strategy against the reigning champion? Johnny Tyler: I’m not going to ask a man of God why he does what he does. Maybe God told him that this was the time for him to fight. Maybe he wants to get this done so he’s ready for his sermon tomorrow. I don’t honestly know. Tess Bradenbury: Wait, he still preaches on Sundays? Johnny Tyler: Well, yeah. Virtual services are a thing, you know! Tess Bradenbury: Huh. I’ll be damned. Johnny Tyler: You certainly will be with that attitude! Tess Bradenbury: …I walked into that one. quote:(04:42) Rev. Gross hit a Punch Tess Bradenbury: We’re not even ten minutes into this sixty-minute match and the referee is already warning both men to watch the illegal tactics. Johnny Tyler: I think we’ve seen all of the low blows that’ll cause falls for the nigh, Tess. This is going to be a submission war, plain and simple! Tess Bradenbury: You still going with Heartilly? Johnny Tyler: Until someone proves to me otherwise, he’s the one to beat! What say you? Tess Bradenbury: While I’m inclined to agree on principle, I think Gross has the advantage with his dragon sleeper. Regardless, this isn’t going to be some 17-0 sleeper of a match! quote:(09:16) Rev. Gross broke a Rear Chinlock Tess Bradenbury: And Heartilly the first to go for a big move; that arm breaker if applied often enough can score falls in this type of match, as we saw last season! Johnny Tyler: Plus, you weaken the arms of Gross, it renders his finisher less effective! A smart strategy and this is why he’s still my pick to win it tonight! quote:(15:02) Rev. Gross avoided a Begging Off Low Blow. Johnny Tyler: Tess, you said earlier that this wasn’t going to be a rehash of last season. Given what we’ve seen so far, would you like to retract that? Tess Bradenbury: No. This match isn’t going to carry the specter of 17-0. Patience, Johnny. We still have over forty minutes to go yet. quote:(19:09) Rev. Gross hit a Punch Tess Bradenbury: Gross immediately taps out, to save some damage to his legs; a smart move this early in the match. Heartilly goes up one fall to none, with the majority of the match still to come! Johnny Tyler: There’s the first domino, Tess. The rest are coing in short order, just watch. quote:(21:23) Heartilly slipped out of the back of a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: Look, ref, I know you’ve had a busy night too, but this is not the time for a nap! Tess Bradenbury: Johnny! No need for that! quote:(24:53) Heartilly hit a Hip Toss Tess Bradenbury: Gross is tapping out here, but there’s no ref to see it, and more importantly, no ref to break the hold until Lance is ready to drop it! Johnny Tyler: And so, the plan comes together. Tess Bradenbury: You seriously think he reversed the whip right into the ref on purpose? Johnny Tyler: Can you prove he didn’t?! Tess Bradenbury: … quote:(25:52) Heartilly picked up Rev. Gross Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly nearly stole one there to go up two falls! Johnny Tyler: Well, now that the ref has had his power nap, maybe he can pay better attention to things! quote:(26:56) Heartilly hit a Running Schoolboy Roll Up Johnny Tyler: Where did that come from? Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly taking a page from Gross’ book, tapping out quickly to get out of the hold. We’re tied up at 1, which automatically makes this a better final than last season! Johnny Tyler: And we’re only halfway through the bout, too! quote:(29:24) Heartilly hit a Spinning Arm Breaker Johnny Tyler: Lance is trying to fight it! Tess Bradenbury: Trying, but failing as Gross has it locked in tight! There’s the tap, and we have a lead change! Gross now leads two falls to one as we’ve just passed the halfway point of this match! quote:(31:53) Rev. Gross broke a Kneeling Jaw Breaker Johnny Tyler: Holy crap, I didn’t see that coming already! Tess Bradenbury: Neither did Heartilly, who hasn’t fully recovered from the last one! It’s almost a bewildered tapout, and Gross now holds a two-fall lead, three to one! quote:(33:04) Heartilly applied a Front Facelock Johnny Tyler: Now it’s Gross who’s trying to fight out of this and maintain his lead! Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly starts pounding on the knee, and Gross taps out of self-preservation! Heartilly gets one back; it’s now three to two in favor of Gross! quote:(36:05) Rev. Gross slipped out of the back of a Single Arm DDT Johnny Tyler: Tie game, coming up! Tess Bradenbury: Afraid not, Johnny. Gross rolled to the side to stack up Heartilly, and force the break lest Lance be pinned. But more concerning to him here, is that laceration on the forehead. There’s still twenty minutes of the match to go, and that cut is only going to get worse as time goes on. Heartilly may have given himself a subtle, but definite, advantage in this championship match! Johnny Tyler: Surely the ref isn’t going to call off the freaking RRW Championship match due to blood loss? Tess Bradenbury: I think he totally would, Johnny. Especially with the pandemic still running rampant out there. quote:(39:01) Heartilly hit a Running Schoolboy Roll Up Johnny Tyler: How is he still going that strong? Tess Bradenbury: Heartilly is trying to get to the elbow, maybe underneath to the hand to figure out a way out fo the dragon sleeper, but nothing doing on this occasion! Heartilly taps, and Gross extends his lead back to two! It’s now four to two in facor of Gross, with just under twenty minutes left to go! quote:(40:47) Heartilly hit a Single Arm DDT Johnny Tyler: By God, heartily is not giving up in this match that easily! Tess Bradenbury: Gross holds on for a few seconds, but eventually taps! Gross still leads, but now it’s down to a four-three lead with just a quarter of an hour remaining! Johnny Tyler: This has been a hell of a match, Tess; it almost seems a shame that someone is going to lose here! quote:(45:58) Heartilly hit a Kneeling Jaw Breaker Johnny Tyler: Gross is trying to hang on for everything he’s worth! He knows that the clock is going to be his worst enemy if he taps! Tess Bradenbury: heartily grabs the foot of Gross and is twisting at it, trying to wrench the knee a little more...that did the trick! Gross taps out, and he’s cradling his left leg as he tries to get to a corner and get back to his feet! Lance Heartilly has tied this match up at four falls apiece, with ten minutes left to go! Johnny Tyler: This is going to go down to the wire, for certain, especially with both men now bleeding! quote:(50:01) Rev. Gross blocked a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: Gross seems to have found his twenty-fourth wind here! Tess Bradenbury: The referee seems content for now to let this ride, as we drop to under seven minutes remaining. But if Gross isn’t careful, it could still come crashing down around him if the ref decides to force the issue! quote:(53:18) Rev. Gross hit a Legdrop To Groin Johnny Tyler: This could be the match right here! Tess Bradenbury: Gross is screaming in pain; his legs have to be wracked in agony by this point as he tries to fight through it and find a break. He’s just a few inches from the ropes…but Heartilly cranks on the ankle, and that tweaks the knee enough that Gross taps! Despite being behind most of the match, Heartilly now leads five falls to four with less than five minutes remaining! Johnny Tyler: I think that’ll do it, Tess. Gross’ legs can’t take another one of those! quote:(55:27) Heartilly slipped out the front of a Stump Piledriver Johnny Tyler: Wait, Gross from out of nowhere with the sleeper! And he’s got the body scissors locked in too! Tess Bradenbury: If this happened just a little later, Lance could try to stretch the time out, but there’s still too much time left…and indeed, there’s the tap! Gross has tied this up at five falls apiece with three and a half minutes to go! As Gross releases Come to Jesus, Heartilly brings the point of his elbow down into the side of Gross’s left knee while seemingly trying to get to his feet. Gross staggers back into a neutral corner, basically resting all of his weight on the right leg as the ref threatens to DQ Heartilly and award Gross a fall. Instead, there’s a good thirty second tirade that Gross uses to try to recover before the ref signals for the match to resume. Tess Bradenbury: What in the hell was that? Johnny Tyler: He was trying to get up, Tess. I don’t know why the ref is giving Heartilly such a— Tess Bradenbury: Oh, can it, Johnny! You and I both know that was a cheap shot! If Heartilly can’t win this in regulation, he’s looking for any advantage he can if this goes to extra time! quote:(56:44) Heartilly broke the Trapping Headbutts Tess Bradenbury: Can Gross hang on? There’s less than thirty seconds left! Johnny Tyler: He’s fighting towards the ropes, but Heartilly is blocking the attempt—wait, now he’s trying to flip them over! He knows that if he can just hold on, he has a chance! Tess Bradenbury: Looks like…yes, Gross gets them rolled over, but Heartilly just rolls with the momentum and they’re right back where they started, but now in the center of the ring…wait! Heartilly just drove his elbow straight into the left kneecap of Gross! Johnny Tyler: Twelve seconds! Eleven…ten…nine— Tess Bradenbury: Gross taps! Four successive elbow shots to the knee were too much! With just nine seconds remaining, Lance Heartilly takes a six falls to five lead! Johnny Tyler: This is basically over, Tess! Unless Gross gets a miracle pin right from the restart, Lance Heartilly has retained! quote:(59:55) Rev. Gross hit a Slap To Chest Tess Bradenbury: And there’s the bell! In an absolute war, Lance Heartilly has emerged bloodied, bruised, and torn, but yet victorious! This is as far from last season’s finals as you can get, and he certainly earned the right to carry the RRW Championship for another season! Johnny Tyler: I told you that he had to prove he could be beaten, and Gross came the closest I’ve seen anyone really manage in such a grueling war! Lotta respect for both men, Tess, and I think we can safely call this an instant classic! Tess Bradenbury: Without a doubt! Folks, that’ll do it for us this season. For Johnny Tyler and everyone else at Rowdy Ringsports Wrestling, I’m Tess Brandenbury. Stay safe, and we’ll see you for season three, as Lance Heartilly remains your RRW Champion!! You have one boon available to change the game world in some minor way as you deem fit. MATCH OF THE SEASON AWARD: SEASON TWO The only four-star rated match in the regular season claims this award, even though we all know it’s really the RRW Championship match that should count. Sadly, only regular-season matches are eligible, and that’s why the Match of the Season goes to Jun Onoo’s win over Otto von Schwarz in Week 12. UPDATED RRW RECORDS AND SUPERLATIVES With 24 regular season wins, Reverend Johnny Gross holds the mark for most wins in RRW. He also has the best winning percentage, at 75%. Season Two’s Most Entertaining Wrestler is Elyssa Anderson, who posted an Average Match Rating of 2.375 over the regular season. The single-season high mark is still held jointly by Daniel Simmons and The Siberian Nightmare, who each posted a 2.563 back in season one. The highest average for someone who’s competed in both seasons is Otto von Schwarz, with an Average Match Rating of 2.344 over 32 matches. Otto von Schwarz, despite being a giant and thus not normally someone who would be considered a good performer, holds an RRW-leading 8 Matches of the Night to his name. The next closest is El Tornado with 5. Wins have come at a premium for Jimmy Anarchy (he only has 6 over two seasons), so to think that he would have the fastest Average Time of Victory is intriguing. His mark of 12:03 is just seven seconds ahead of the next-fastest. The single-season marks are Glenn Knight’s 11:28 from Season 1 (11 wins), and Billy Norris’s 11:44 this season (also 11 wins). In terms of a wrestler’s Overall rating, there’s only one character who has passed the 500 mark, and that’s Brian Blackfield. His 507 OVR is 11 points up on Yoshii Nakamatsu and two-time RRW Champion Lance Heartilly. Speaking of Lance Heartilly, he has far and way the highest Wrestling Spirit rating of anyone on the roster. Winning two RRW Titles and a Tag Team Turmoil event will certainly help as that’s 125 bonus point right there. His rating of 553 exceeds second place—Jack Braddock—by 142 points. Hailey Carmichael is the only other member of the roster to even meet the 400 threshold, albeit by rounding (the actual stat is 399.94). The individual high marks for the other stats are as follows: Strength: 679 (Sven Ulafsson) Striking: 540 (Vladimir Chavinski) Grappling: 665 (Lance Heartilly) Ground: 378 (Indigo Rose) Speed: 525 (Pulsar) Stamina: 400 (Hailey Carmichael) Athleticism: 512 (El Tornado) Manager OVR: 400 (Devil’s Delight) Regular Season Decision Types Pinfall Victories: Brandy McDonald (21) Pinfall Losses: Jimmy Anarchy (18) Submission Victories: Lance Heartilly (20) Submission Losses: Indigo Rose (11) Countout Victories: Otto von Schwarz (1) Countout Losses: Pulsar (1) Blood Stoppage Victories: Brian Blackfield (4) Blood Stoppage Losses: Diego Rodriguez (3) RRW MATCH RECORDS A few marks were added to the top five tables for matches in Season Two. The most notable are as follows: Standard Match—Shortest Mel O’Hallister week four victory over Indigo Rose, clocking in at just 7:15, slots into second place on the fastest times table. Billy Norris’ win over Pulsar in week twelve, at 7:32, is the third-fastest regular match in RRW history. Markus Clay over Terrance Stevens in 7:51 during week two falls into fifth. Standard Matches—Longest The top five remain unchanged from season one. Sixth through tenth, though, are all season two bouts, headlined by Otto von Schwarz over Sven Ulafsson in 30:23—just 13 seconds away from overtaking fifth. Gimmick Matches—Shortest Pulsar’s Table Match win over Sterling Silver in week 12, timed at 6:36, is the new mark to beat for gimmick matches. The new runner-up is Norris’ victory over El Tornado under Last One Standing rules, at 7:47—a full minute and change behind Pulsar’s victory. Gimmick (non-European) Matches—Longest The only change to the top five came in week six, When Terrance Stevens took 11:25 to put away Devil’s Delight in a Hardcore match. That exact time was matched six week later, when Brian Blackfield beat George Mastachas in a Cage match in 22:25. European Rules Matches Two of the three held this season ended up being the second and third-longest bouts of this type in RRW history. The third would be the shortest one held in RRW. Lord Robert Abernathy’s victory over Vladimir Chavinski in week two, clocking in at 48:24, currently sits in second place on the table. The week eleven clash, in which Faarooq Mahal Jr. beat Otto von Schwarz in 44:15, sits in third. Best Rated Regular Season Matches After the Season Two finals, we all know that that match is going to be the pinnacle of RRW matches for a very, very long time. So sticking to the regular season… RRW's fifth-ever ****-rated regular season match slots into second place from this season, held in week 12 when Jun Onoo bested Otto von Schwarz. (This is also the 8th-longest standard match in RRW history). The top match continues to be the European Rules bout from season one, week four, in which Daniel Simmons bested Jun Onoo in a time of 32:48, also earning a **** rating. PROPOSED CHANGES FOR SEASON THREE The biggest change I’m aiming for in season three once more revolves around managers. Despite opening up every avenue of manager interference available, there’s still a decided lack of actual interference. Consequentially, those people with managers (Hailey, Nagata, Nitschke, Delight, von Schwarz, River) are being penalized for their manager’s laziness or plain inability to run interference. Thus, in season three, wrestlers only get a reduction to their earned XP if a manager actually manages to successfully interfere in a bout. If a manager does not try, or does not successfully interfere, the wrestler will be given full XP for the match. I’m also toying with the idea of adding random events between shows. Something akin to a 0.5 to 1% chance per week of something happening to a character. Things along the line of: “Your therapy after the match helped you recover a little more than usual. Negate one level of damage to one body part from the previous week.” “You crushed your workout this week! Gain five free Stat Points that must be used this week or they will be lost.” “A lack of sleep disrupted your preparation. Training PMs for this week will not be taken into effect for your next match (they will be applied afterwards, does not apply to signature/finisher purchases).” And so forth. Only one goon finished under .500 for the season. However, he has not been in contact for any training/updates since the early part of Season One. So if the deadline for Season Three applications passes and Glenn Knight’s handler hasn’t been in touch in some way or another to state whether he wants back in for Season Three, Knight will be moved out of active competition, and his fifteen free stat points and extra TP forfeited. For all other current goon characters: You have one (1) TP that you may use or bank to build up for future purchases. If you have negative traits that can be worsened to give you more TP, you may increase those levels by one to give you the additional TP. There is no rush to send these changes in; I will be taking a two-week sabbatical from RRW related things to recharge mentally. The tentative plan is to “reopen” on March 15, allow two weeks for new sign ups and updating current/returning wrestlers, with a deadline of March 29 for applications and Season Three, Week One being posted on April 4. This puts Tag Team Turmoil around Memorial Day in the US, and the season ending around the beginning of August barring any scheduling changes. So if anyone reading along is interested in joining for season three, you have a couple of weeks to get your ideas solidified and ready to go!

A brief update: The planned schedule I laid out above will be pushed back a week in all regards. The reason is that my roommate’s PC, which I ran RRW on for all of Season Two, decided to randomly have the USB Microphone not work and constantly lock up the system. In doing tech support for said computer, my dumb rear end forgot to save the updated WS3 game database before the system was wiped. So while I have the Excel sheet with all of the stats updated, my actual game database backup is from midway through season one. So the extra week will be to ensure that everything gets reentered into the system properly, all pictures and such work as expected, and for me to redo the updates I had already begun for season three movesets and such.

I spent the majority of Friday afternoon going back into the older database and updating stats/movesets. Still to do moveset-wise are all goon characters save Hailey Carmichael, as all other goons currently have XP outstanding and even those few points may add a move or two to the list depending on where they go. But with just a handful out of the 32-plus characters I have in the database, it's more manageable. I still have traits to do for everyone except Hailey, whose Season 3 traits I've already received, but I can do those during any down time from work at the beginning of this week as those at least aren't as time-consuming. So no big deal there. With the two major headaches of restoration mostly dealt with, let's go ahead and do something I meant to do last week, shall we? APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR SEASON THREE OF ROWDY RINGSPORTS WRESTLING! Existing Characters/Players: Since I've heard from all goons except the handler of Glenn Knight during season two, you're automatically in for season three. If you'd rather sit out, let me know and I'll find an alternate from my backup characters list to take that spot. If I do not hear from The Bee by the time signups are closed on April 5, Knight will be removed from the roster. New Characters/Players: Are welcome to join! Just fill out the application near the beginning of this thread (should be the sixth post or thereabouts), and either PM it to me or email to WreSpi3League@gmail.com and I'll get you added, and communicate the character's auto-generated moveset in the same manner (unless you're coming with a moveset already premade, that is). I have an idea in mind already of which characters are being rotated out from the list I maintain, but that's subject to change depending on if anyone else decides to join us! DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: APRIL 5, 11:59 PM EASTERN US DAYLIGHT TIME Edited to add: In addition to editing the manager's XP cut rule to reflect the season three changes, I have also added this bit to the rules document: NOTES ON TRAIT POINTS FOR RETURNING CHARACTERS Upon entering their second season or beyond, a character may increase the rank of any current negative trait(s) they have by one level (if applicable), and may choose another negative perk to gain at Level 1. If increasing the rank of an existing negative trait, this can be done for each trait every season--there is no "limit one trait to worsen per customer" here. One week until application deadline, folks. I’ve already gotten the schedule template worked out for season three, and names/gimmick matches distributed throughout. Took a solid hour to make sure every person got two gimmick bouts exactly...which normally I’m at it for 90+ minutes trying to manipulate things so I’ll take a bit of good fortune for once. I’ll likely post another installment of the RRW Diaries sometime this week. Anyone have any preferences for who gets showcased?

So real life happened and I didn’t get the RRW Diaries entry written like I wanted. But we’re still going to move on with things regardless of how suddenly packed my free time has become between this, Final Fantasy Randomizer’s spring tournament I’m helping out with, and other assorted projects. Signups for season three are now closed. We’re down to five goon characters, as Glenn Knight has decided not to renew his contract. I’ll get a schedule posted within a few hours and updated movesets to those still needing them soon after. I’ll also update the roster list on the first page as soon as I feasibly can because work from home’s still a thing and that’s what I’m doing for the next five hours (break times aside). EDIT: On break, have a schedule! Also, roster list will be updated a few seconds after I save this post! Eh, for the hell of it, I’ll jump in on predictions this week before I start running matches. Tornado Hailey (duh)—Delight’s best chances at a win this season in my view are week 10/15 vs. Gibson, and week 14 vs. Sin Pulsar Steel Anderson (I’m basing this solely on Season 1 Week 1 a lifetime ago) Braddock Gross O’Hallister von Schwarz Nakamatsu Nagata (avenging the playoff loss) Simmons Nitschke Abernathy Heartilly—I’m not betting against the two time champ this season until someone proves they have him figured out Mastachas

El Tornado (0-0, OVR 456) vs. Sin (0-0, OVR 416) Tess Bradenbury: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Season Three of Rowdy Ringsports Wrestling! Tess Bradenbury here, alongside Johnny Tyler. Johnny, it’s been about a month since arguably the best match in RRW history, where Lance Heartilly successfully defended his RRW Championship against Reverend Johnny Gross. Will either man have recovered enough to make a deep run this season? Johnny Tyler: Heartilly is a dual champion, and the only RRW Champion ever. Until someone can prove that they’ve got his number, it’s a fool who bets against him. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a repeat of the finals this season, in all honesty! Tess Bradenbury: That’s about four months down the road, though. There’s a long way to go to get there, and we start tonight with someone returning to RRW after taking a sabbatical last season facing an Orange Division stalwart here for his third campaign. Johnny Tyler: I’m not normally a fan of El Tornado, and I’m not about to change my mind here as he’s facing the returning Sin. Sure, she might be outmatched and have ring rust, but give her a few minutes and one or two good shots to get back into things. And from there, she’ll make short work of Tornado, mark my words! Tess Bradenbury: Be that as it may, both competitors have made their way to the ring, and the ref calls for the bell. Season Three is officially under way! quote:(00:03) Sin hit a Handshake Sucker Punch Tess Bradenbury: Sin seems to be right back to her old ways, not caring at all about the rulebook as the referee is always losing his patience with her! Johnny Tyler: What right does he have? Surely he’s not free of sin in his life! Tess Bradenbury: That’s not the point, Johnny! quote:(03:50) El Tornado very easily moved out of the way from a Running Knee Drop. Tess Bradenbury: Tornado picking up the pace here, and coming off the top is certainly going to help matters! Johnny Tyler: I was expecting him to try his splash from up there; it has to be too early, right? Tess Bradenbury: Yeah, just a bit, Johnny. quote:(08:21) El Tornado used a Slit Throat Motion Tess Bradenbury: Sin needs to tread carefully here; too much more and the ref may disqual— JS: Tess, the ref doesn’t even DQ for crotch shots. What makes you think he’s going to start now? Tess Bradenbury: …good point. quote:(13:09) Sin hit a Posing Elbow Drop Johnny Tyler: How many rotations was that? Tess Bradenbury: I counted seven. Kind of fitting, that. Johnny Tyler: Come again? Tess Bradenbury: I’ll let you think about it a bit and let you figure it out for yourself. quote:(15:18) El Tornado hit a Running Schoolboy Roll Up Johnny Tyler: Sin’s in the drop zone, Tornado’s looking to end it here! Tess Bradenbury: Here comes the Tornado Splash…no, Sin moved! Tornado lands hard, and Sin scrambles into a desperation cover…one…two…thr—no! Two and a half only as Tornado gets a shoulder up! That was almost disastrous for the luchador! Johnny Tyler: Now is your chance, Sin. Finish this! quote:(16:45) Sin hit an Eye Poke Johnny Tyler: It’s over! Tess Bradenbury: Sin shoots the half, hooks the far leg…one…two…three! This one is over, and Sin returns in emphatic fashion in a hard-fought and well-deserved victory! Johnny Tyler: It’s going to be a tough go in that Black Division with Reverend Gross, but Sin is off to a great start on the season! Sin (1-0) def. El Tornado (0-1) via Pinfall (Depravity) in 18:13. Rating: *** Changes for Sin: OVR + 5.74, XP + 604.47, minor damage to head Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 0.80, XP + 207.37, moderate damage to head This was the Match of the Night (1 [1 this season] for Sin, 6 [1 this season] for El Tornado) Hailey Carmichael (0-0, OVR 488) vs. Devil's Delight (0-0, OVR 397) Delight found out about a minute in that during what passed for an offseason in RRW, Hailey had been working on making her head more resilient to attacks. An attempt at a headbutt by Delight left her reeling as Carmichael was barely fazed by it. The next dozen minutes didn’t go so well for Delight either, ending with a #NoFilter and Carmichael picking up where she left off last season. Hailey Carmichael (1-0) def. Devil's Delight (0-1) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 13:24. Rating: * Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 2.94, XP + 445.90, no notable damage Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.89, XP + 111.47, moderate damage to head Pulsar (0-0, OVR 492) vs. Blood River (0-0, OVR 468) A Match of the Night contender, this really started to gain momentum about seven minutes deep. Pulsar had picked up the pace of the bout, keeping River off-balance with his speedy offense, but a missed running seated dropkick in the corner gave River a chance to come back. The ref went down due to a reversed Irish whip, and the fight quickly went outside after Pulsar connected with a Pescado Suicida. This would turn out to be a mistake. River was more at home fighting outside the ring, and with the ref down he made certain to bring plunder into play, at one point connecting with a chair shot that echoed loudly in the empty arena. As the ref finally came to, River hit a spear and tried to get the countout win, but Pulsar made his way back inside the ring…where a pair of Sacrifices led to a Crimson Regret, and a decisive win for River to kick off his third campaign in RRW. Blood River (1-0) def. Pulsar (0-1) via Pinfall (Crimson Regret) in 12:02. Rating: *** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 5.28, XP + 526.26, minor damage to head Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 0.73, XP + 131.56, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body The Siberian Nightmare (0-0, OVR 422) vs. Diamond Steel (0-0, OVR 473) A decent, hard-hitting bout. Steel had a decided early advantage, keeping the returning Nightmare off balance, but her lack of moves that could finish a bout aside from the All Out Blitz cost her in the end. She only got one attempt at it, which Nightmare neatly sidestepped and then leveled her with The Sickle. He would not relinquish control after that, and a few minutes later hit his trademark leaping piledriver for the victory in his return to RRW. The Siberian Nightmare (1-0) def. Diamond Steel (0-1) via Pinfall (Siberian Avalanche) in 17:57. Rating: ** Changes for The Siberian Nightmare: OVR + 4.42, XP + 488.62, moderate damage to head Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.15, minor damage to head Markus Clay (0-0, OVR 485) vs. Elyssa Anderson (0-0, OVR 462) YELLOW DIVISION FIRST BLOOD MATCH This seemed a step slower than most First Blood contests, and went rather quickly as well. While both got equal amounts of offense in, Clay got lucky off a knee drop that busted Anderson open…or at least, the audience thought he got lucky at first. As Clay walked back up the entrance ramp, he paused to pull something metallic out of his kneepad, ostensibly the reason Anderson got busted open. Anderson seethed with rage in the ring, as the commentators hyped up the fact that these two would be facing off once again next week. Markus Clay (1-0) def. Elyssa Anderson (0-1) via First Blood (Knee Drop) in 10:14. Rating: ** Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 4.21, XP + 484.91, minor damage to head Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 0.87, XP + 121.23, minor damage to head Sven Ulafsson (0-0, OVR 441) vs. Jack Braddock (0-0, OVR 485) A surprising Match of the Night contender that, at the start, looked like it was going to be a squash. Braddock had early control with his striking game, putting Ulafsson in trouble early. However, Braddock seemed almost obsessed with landing the Jack Attack, and three consecutive missed attempts let Ulafsson get back into the contest with a couple of Nordic Backbreakers. A ducked clothesline by Braddock finally led to a Jack Attack connecting…and Ulafsson kicked out right before three, much to Braddock’s shock. A second successful Jack Attack kept Sven down for three, but only barely as Sven kicked out at 3.1. Some might say Braddock stole this one, but the end result is a win regardless for the reigning Purple Division champion. {Behind The Curtain: On the first Jack Attack that landed, Braddock needed to roll an 893 or lower out of 1000 to win, and rolled an 897. On the second one, Braddock needed 918 or lower…and got a 914 on the roll. Two incredibly close rolls, which may have helped the rating subtly.} Jack Braddock (1-0) def. Sven Ulafsson (0-1) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 13:33. Rating: *** Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 5.39, XP + 527.05, no notable damage Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR + 0.75, XP + 131.76, major damage to head Sterling Silver (0-0, OVR 445) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (0-0, OVR 495) A match that could have been in Match of the Night contention were it not for a full minute period where Silver was determined to hit a second rope dropkick but kept getting thwarted by Gross, the end came when Gross rushed to the corner to stop On Wings of Silver, threw Silver off the rope, and a short arm knee lift leading to his twelfth attempt at Come to Jesus finally pays off as Silver can’t find the ropes and has to tap out. Reverend Johnny Gross (1-0) def. Sterling Silver (0-1) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 21:39. Rating: ** Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 4.63, XP + 490.39, minor damage to head and body Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.60, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Mel O'Hallister (0-0, OVR 448) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (0-0, OVR 454) This turned into a brawl early and stayed there. Aside from O’Hallister applying the Irish Clover on two occasions, this was all strikes all the time, and could have gone either way. In the end, though, O’Hallister put down a game Chavinski with his inverted DDT to pick up win number one of the new campaign. Mel O'Hallister (1-0) def. Vladimir Chavinski (0-1) via Pinfall (Dream of the Emerald Isle) in 17:27. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.39, XP + 488.38, minor damage to head Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.09, moderate damage to head Otto von Schwarz (0-0, OVR 479) vs. Angela Wassermann (0-0, OVR 418) A competitive, if merely average, bout to start the second half of the card. Wassermann had the early advantage, but her one attempt at her cross arm breaker went for naught as von Schwarz powered out of it. Otto would not relinquish control after that, needing only three additional minutes to put Wassermann down for the three count. Otto von Schwarz (1-0) def. Angela Wassermann (0-1) via Pinfall (Gute Nacht) in 12:16. Rating: ** Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 4.10, XP + 485.89, moderate damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.47, minor damage to head Brandy McDonald (0-0, OVR 483) vs. Yoshii Nakamatsu (0-0, OVR 496) It was a focused, determined Brandy McDonald to came to fight tonight. She gave as good as she got, weathering whatever Nakamatsu threw at her (including a DEVASTATION Knee that hit flush), but it was the unexpected that caught Yoshii off-guard. For the first time in three seasons, McDonald went to the top rope during a match and connected with her somersault leg drop, the Hang Over. Having not seen it before, Nakamatsu didn’t have it scouted, and the surprise maneuver put him off-kilter enough that a simple spear did the trick a minute later. An average match despite the inclusion of McDonald’s trademark signature, it was still enough for her to fend off a worthy challenge from Yoshii on this night. Brandy McDonald (1-0) def. Yoshii Nakamatsu (0-1) via Pinfall (Spear) in 16:32. Rating: ** Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR + 4.34, XP + 487.94, minor damage to head Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.98, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (0-0, OVR 468) vs. Brian Blackfield (0-0, OVR 507) Maven Deltzer’s dislike for Eugene Nagata continues, apparently. Despite a competitive bout between the two men, and despite Shaft Sonnen actually making himself useful for the first time in a great while (tripping up Blackfield to prevent a Blindside High Knee about six minutes into the contest), Deltzer still only gave this match a single star. While no one has him on record saying this, the rumors are that the single star was because Blackfield hit the Scotland Destroyer and got the win that way. Many viewers thought that this should have been a 2-star match, but Maven decreed otherwise. Brian Blackfield (1-0) def. Eugene Nagata (0-1) via Pinfall (Scotland Destroyer) in 15:21. Rating: * Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 3.01, XP + 446.75, minor damage to head Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR -0.92, XP + 94.94, minor damage to head Faarooq Mahal Jr. (0-0, OVR 440) vs. Daniel Simmons (0-0, OVR 496) It’s not clear what Mahal did during the offseason to prepare for his second campaign in RRW, but it started by essentially shrugging off four or five punches and kicks from Simmons in the opening minute, as if they didn’t hurt in the slightest. Once Simmons moved to forearms and elbows, it seemed to take noticeable effect, but Mahal was quick to respond with a litany of holds and the occasional elbow drop to keep the match close. Mahal thwarting the Working Man’s Dropkick by tossing Simmons off the top rope was the beginning of the end, as several neckbreakers in succession eventually led to his submission finisher, and Simmons having to tap out while still out of reach of the ropes. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (1-0) def. Daniel Simmons (0-1) via Submission (Full Metal Jacket) in 16:24. Rating: ** Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 4.33, XP + 487.87, minor damage to head Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.97, minor damage to head Billy Norris (0-0, OVR 492) vs. Hans Nitschke (0-0, OVR 447) The only thing keeping this from being a squash match was Nitschke’s control in the opening minutes. He kept Norris close and tried to wear him down with strikes. It wasn’t until Norris managed to create a little separation, and pick up the tempo, that Nitschke began to flounder. Norris would keep up the pace enough to hit a Boomerang DDT and a Down Under Disaster back-to-back, and that was enough to keep Herr Doktor down for the pin. Billy Norris (1-0) def. Hans Nitschke (0-1) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 10:37. Rating: ** Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 4.00, XP + 485.10, no notable damage Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.27, minor damage to head Indigo Rose (0-0, OVR 441) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (0-0, OVR 485) By all rights, this should have been Rose’s bout to win. She controlled the middle portion of the contest, wearing down Abernathy to get her Vite d’Indaco applied, and in tight. Abernathy was moments from tapping when his hand reached up and went for the eyes of Rose, breaking the hold while the ref admonished him. As has been told several times this week alone, that would be the turning point and he never looked back, eventually locking in his own submission and forcing the tap out. This one really was a victory he stole from his opponent. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-0) def. Indigo Rose (0-1) via Submission (God Save the Queen) in 21:12. Rating: ** Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 4.60, XP + 490.18, minor damage to head Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.54, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (0-0, OVR 496) vs. Erick Gibson (0-0, OVR 417) Welcome back to RRW, Mr. Gibson. Your first opponent is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions and the reigning and defending two-time RRW Champion. No pressure! This went about the way anyone would have expected this to go. Lance Heartilly (1-0) def. Erick Gibson (0-1) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 10:11. Rating: * Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 2.81, XP + 444.48, no notable damage Changes for Erick Gibson: OVR -0.85, XP + 111.12, no notable damage George Mastachas (0-0, OVR 431) vs. Jean-Paul Ouilette (0-0, OVR 411) WHITE DIVISION In a way, it’s only fitting that the main event also be a Match of the Night contender. A closely contested bout that truly could have gone either way, it picked up intensity thirteen minutes deep when the ref was taken out by Ouilette being thrown into him. The brawl continued for the next two minutes, including Ouilette going low right before the referee came to. An attempt at Le Petit Mort missed, which netted Mastachas a two count, and a follow-up attempt at Wrath of Zeus was countered by Ouilette. Another low blow led to the official nearly blowing a gasket in the ring, but a Le Petit Mort that connected would be enough for the returning Jean-Paul Ouilette to claim victory on this night. Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-0) def. George Mastachas (0-1) via Pinfall (Le Petit Mort) in 16:47. Diamond Steel (0-1, OVR 473) vs. Erick Gibson (0-1, OVR 416) TABLES MATCH After opening last week’s show with the Match of the Night, this week started in the complete opposite direction. This was a tepid bout that Gibson showed a spark in for maybe the first three minutes before Steel pulled away and never gave her opponent a chance to fight back. Diamond Steel (1-1) def. Erick Gibson (0-2) via Table Break (Stump Piledriver) in 9:24. Rating: * Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 2.78, XP + 444.14, no notable damage Changes for Erick Gibson: OVR -0.84, XP + 111.03, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (1-0, OVR 483) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (1-0, OVR 445) SUBMISSION MATCH Tess Bradenbury: It’s still early in the night, but coming up next is the first of two submission matches on the card. Johnny Tyler: Who the hell makes these schedules anyway, Tess? Putting two of the same stipulation bout on the same card, and back to back no less? You’d think a senile old man was making this up! Tess Bradenbury: …moving on, before Johnny gets fired or something…despite his size and being one of the more popular members in RRW, Otto von Schwarz has an uphill battle tonight as he’s paired off against a Blue Division wrestler in Faarooq Mahal Jr. Johnny Tyler: Then just stand on the guy and let your size do the work for you, Tess! How hard is that to grasp? Tess Bradenbury: It’s going to take a bit more than that, Johnny. Regardless, both men are in the ring, and here’s the bell to get us underway with our second match of the evening! quote:(00:04) von Schwarz escaped a Standing Arm Bar Tess Bradenbury: So far, Mahal’s had the advantage for the most part. Being able to limit your opponent’s movement, especially with such a size differential, is going to be key for Mahal here. Johnny Tyler: Yeah, because all it’s going to take is one solid shot from Otto to drop Mahal, and then who’s going to stop the big man? quote:(05:35) FMJ hit an Elbow Drop Tess Bradenbury: Oh come on, was that really necessary? Johnny Tyler: You didn’t hear what Mahal said about Hans’ mother, Tess! Tess Bradenbury: Because he didn’t say a drat thing, Johnny! But the ref is doing the right thing here and kicking Hans Meyer out of the ringside area, and this will continue as a one-on-one match! Johnny Tyler: Won’t make a difference. Otto’s on a bit of a roll, it won’t take long to squeeze the life out of Mahal and end this one! quote:(11:16) FMJ blocked a Ring Apron Ram Tess Bradenbury: Is he…trying to crush Mahal’s head like a coconut? Johnny Tyler: See, Tess? Who needs technical skill when you are a literal giant? Tess Bradenbury: He must not have gotten a good grip though, as Mahal gets out of the awkward submission attempt and looks to make the big man pay! quote:(12:28) von Schwarz blocked a Spinning Arm Breaker Johnny Tyler: Please. When was the last time a sleeper hold won a submission match? Tess Bradenbury: He’s not looking to win yet, Johnny. Just wear Otto down some more and soften him up for the Maharaja Clip or the Full Metal Jacket. I swear, you act like you don’t watch the matches. Johnny Tyler: Why would I watch the shows, Tess?! quote:(16:42) FMJ applied a Top Wrist Lock Tess Bradenbury: This could be over here, Johnny! Johnny Tyler: Doubtful, Tess. Mahal might have that hold locked in but his body isn’t positioned to actually keep the hold on. He needs to climb on the back instead of standing on the floor to get that leverage. Tess Bradenbury: And as you say that, Otto manages to break free of the hold. But has the damage already been done? Johnny Tyler: If Mahal corrects that error in judgment, it just might be enough! quote:(21:18) FMJ applied a Sleeper Hold Tess Bradenbury: Right here in front of us! Mahal has it hooked in, and deep! Johnny Tyler: Otto’s best bet is to try to roll on to his back, use his weight pressed against Mahal and the floor to force a break that way! Tess Bradenbury: Mahal’s fighting those attempts Johnny…and there’s the tap! Faarooq Mahal Jr. wins a submission match that stayed out of the ring for most of it, and takes down a giant in the process! That’s got to be a huge confidence booster! Johnny Tyler: In a division with both Hailey Carmichael and Lance Heartilly, he’s going to need as many of those boosters as he can get to hang with those two in the standings! Faarooq Mahal Jr. (2-0) def. Otto von Schwarz (1-1) via Submission (Full Metal Jacket) in 25:07. Rating: *** Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 6.24, XP + 608.06, minor damage to head and body Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 0.87, XP + 177.03, moderate damage to head, minor damage to arms This was the Match of the Night (2 [1 this season] for Faarooq Mahal Jr., 9 [1 this season] for Otto von Schwarz) Blood River (1-0, OVR 473) vs. Sin (1-0, OVR 422) BLACK DIVISION SUBMISSION MATCH Despite being known for aerial moves, River managed to apply an ankle lock well enough in quick fashion to force Sin to tap out. This would end up being the third-fastest stipulation match in RRW to date, and it was a total squash. Blood River (2-0) def. Sin (1-1) via Submission (Force Submission) in 8:09. Rating: * Changes for Blood River: OVR + 2.73, XP + 443.59, no notable damage Changes for Sin: OVR -0.83, XP + 110.90, minor damage to head Markus Clay (1-0, OVR 489) vs. Elyssa Anderson (0-1, OVR 463) YELLOW DIVISION In a rematch from the previous show—a theme that will repeat several times this season—these two picked up where they left off in week one, and went one better, turning in a Match of the Night contender. Clay was the first to get Anderson into trouble about eleven minutes in, but took too long to get prepared on the top rope, which allowed Anderson a chance to get back into the match. A begging off low blow only netted two for Anderson, but she followed that up with a Point of Attack to put down Markus, get the three count, and split the season series with him just two matches into the season. Elyssa Anderson (1-1) def. Markus Clay (1-1) via Pinfall (Point of Attack) in 13:21. Rating: *** Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 5.38, XP + 526.94, minor damage to head Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 0.75, XP + 131.74, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Angela Wassermann (0-1, OVR 418) vs. Devil's Delight (0-1, OVR 396) The first three minutes were even, then Wassermann started to pull away. A superman punch seemed to be the beginning of the end for Delight, but ducking a left hook and connecting with a trio of Hellborne Risings to the left shoulder of Wassermann gave Delight the first real chance she’s had since joining RRW. After the third, she went for a submission finisher, only for Wassermann to shake her off. Angela couldn’t stop it a second time, and she will go down as a RRW trivia factoid as the first person to lose—and lose cleanly, without manager interference—to Devil’s Delight, in week two of season three by way of reverse armbar. Devil's Delight (1-1) def. Angela Wassermann (0-2) via Submission (Purgatory’s End) in 10:58. Rating: ** Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR + 4.02, XP + 485.26, no notable damage Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.32, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (1-0, OVR 499) vs. Daniel Simmons (0-1, OVR 496) This was a decent, back and forth bout until about twelve minutes in. At that point, Heartilly ducked under a running forearm blow from Simmons, who took out the ref with the shot. Heartilly quickly stunned Simmons and applied the Hellacious Leglock, knowing the ref was down and not able to check the submission, and piled on the offense over the next minute. He seemed to time it just right to land a low blow right before the ref regained enough of his senses to look around, and Heartilly made the cover to steal a pinfall victory over Simmons in what had been shaping up to be a Match of the Night contender before that point. Lance Heartilly (2-0) def. Daniel Simmons (0-2) via Pinfall (Begging Off Low Blow) in 13:59. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 4.19, XP + 486.71, no notable damage Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.68, minor damage to head George Mastachas (0-1, OVR 431) vs. Brian Blackfield (1-0, OVR 510) This match set a new record for shortest RRW match in history, beating out the previous record by four seconds. This was a total squash, and much like the match that this replaced atop the leaderboards, it was the White Division member getting destroyed as Blackfield never even needed to break out his finisher to put away Mastachas. Brian Blackfield (2-0) def. George Mastachas (0-2) via Pinfall (Implant DDT) in 6:14. Rating: * Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 2.65, XP + 442.74, no notable damage Changes for George Mastachas: OVR -0.81, XP + 110.69, minor damage to head Mel O'Hallister (1-0, OVR 452) vs. Jack Braddock (1-0, OVR 491) What many had penciled in as a Match of the Night contender ended up just barely avoiding one-star squash territory. O’Hallister had a little bit of hope around the ten-minute mark, but a pair of spinning backfists eventually set him up to fall victim to a Jack Attack in a match that had minimal holds that weren’t illegal chokes. Jack Braddock (2-0) def. Mel O'Hallister (1-1) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 12:39. Rating: ** Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 4.12, XP + 486.07, no notable damage Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.52, minor damage to head Hailey Carmichael (1-0, OVR 491) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-0, OVR 489) While this was closer than Maven Deltzer would have you believe, it featured a lot of rest holds and wasn’t really that technically pleasing, culminating in a blatant low blow from Carmichael that netted a pinfall victory. Some may say it deserved the low rating it got. Hailey Carmichael (2-0) def. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-1) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 18:02. Rating: * Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 3.12, XP + 447.93, no notable damage Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR -0.95, XP + 111.98, minor damage to head Sven Ulafsson (0-1, OVR 442) vs. Vladimir Chavinski (0-1, OVR 454) For a man whose style of offense is best summarized as “I pick things up and put them down really, really hard,” Ulafsson showed some semblance of strategy in this one. He allowed Chavinski to gas himself out with an early offensive rush, and when Vladimir could barely defend himself due to a lack of oxygen, Sven took control. Several high impact moves—most notably a hammerlock powerbomb, a new wrinkle in his arsenal this season—preceded Pure Power and gave Sven his first win of the campaign. Sven Ulafsson (1-1) def. Vladimir Chavinski (0-2) via Pinfall (Pure Power) in 13:25. Rating: ** Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR + 4.16, XP + 486.44, no notable damage Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.61, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (0-1, OVR 467) vs. Brandy McDonald (1-0, OVR 487) WHITE DIVISION Except for about four minutes in the last half of the match, this was a McDonald squash. Nagata did manage to get some offense in to make it seem closer than it was, but ultimately McDonald just had too much for Eugene to handle on this night. Brandy McDonald (2-0) def. Eugene Nagata (0-2) via Pinfall (Brandy With a Twist) in 14:03. Rating: * Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR + 2.96, XP + 446.18, no notable damage Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR -0.90, XP + 111.55, minor damage to head Yoshii Nakamatsu (0-1, OVR 496) vs. Hans Nitschke (0-1, OVR 447) While the audience watching at home thought this was entertaining, the sudden end didn’t sit well with them, nor with Maven Deltzer, whose summary of this match ran just three words long: “A snore-fest.” Nakamatsu had an early advantage, but could not capitalize as Nitschke rallied back to win with an illegal move that the ref never saw. Hans Nitschke (1-1) def. Yoshii Nakamatsu (0-2) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 13:35. Rating: * Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR + 2.94, XP + 445.98, no notable damage Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR -0.90, XP + 111.49, minor damage to head Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-0, OVR 417) vs. Sterling Silver (0-1, OVR 445) The first half of this match was largely controlled by Ouilette, keeping Silver grounded and slowing the tempo of the match to one more his style. When he missed Le Petit Mort for a second time, and kicked out of the desperate pin attempt Silver made to steal a win, the luchadora decided enough was enough. She would spend the next ten minutes largely on offense, battering Ouilette mercilessly. It would have only been five minutes, save for Ouilette kicking out of On Wings of Silver which only served to infuriate Silver more. A second one finally put an end to the match, probably much to the relief of Ouilette who looked like he had been in a car wreck by the end of it. Sterling Silver (1-1) def. Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-1) via Pinfall (On Wings of Silver) in 20:38. Rating: ** Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 4.57, XP + 489.90, minor damage to head Changes for Jean-Paul Ouilette: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.48, major damage to head, moderate damage to body El Tornado (0-1, OVR 457) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (1-0, OVR 500) Nothing too exciting to report in this one. Tornado had an early advantage, but Gross, still riding the wave of momentum from last season (final minute of the championship match aside) eventually took command of the bout and dispatched Tornado in short order afterwards. Reverend Johnny Gross (2-0) def. El Tornado (0-2) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 10:29. Rating: ** Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 3.99, XP + 485.03, no notable damage Changes for El Tornado: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.26, minor damage to head Billy Norris (1-0, OVR 496) vs. Pulsar (0-1, OVR 493) ORANGE DIVISION This turned out to be an absolute print of a match that never let off the gas from the opening bell. Norris opened up a cut just below Pulsar’s left eye with a headbutt two and a half minutes into the contest. Pulsar refused to let that stop him, as kept the tempo up throughout, giving back as good as he got from Norris. For his part, Norris seemed right at home in this fast-paced contest, making certain to keep a focus on that laceration in case the ref decided to call the match due to blood loss. It wouldn’t get that far, despite the cut gradually getting worse throughout the contest. At just eight minutes in, Norris dropped Pulsar with a garden variety DDT, and immediately connected with the Down Under Disaster, to score a quick pinfall in one of the more enjoyable bouts of the evening. However, even at this blistering pace, it’s still not fast enough to crack the top ten shortest standard matches in RRW history. Billy Norris (2-0) def. Pulsar (0-2) via Pinfall (Down Under Disaster) in 8:19. Rating: *** Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 5.01, XP + 524.32, no notable damage Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 0.69, XP + 131.08, minor damage to head The Siberian Nightmare (1-0, OVR 427) vs. Indigo Rose (0-1, OVR 440) FIRST BLOOD MATCH Some bookies actually had Rose as a slight favorite in this match, largely due to her variated DDT, Blood From a Rose (so named for his higher than normal frequency to bust an opponent open in some manner). However, it would be Nightmare who tried to draw blood first, pounding away at Rose’s head for a few seconds multiple times but not managing to bust her open. Rose would fight back, eventually getting Nightmare into position for that DDT, only for Nightmare to power out of it and deliver an implant DDT, opening up a cut on Rose’s forehead. That would be enough to move the Russian monster to two wins on the young season. The Siberian Nightmare (2-0) def. Indigo Rose (0-2) via First Blood (Implant DDT) in 15:12. Markus Clay (1-1, OVR 490) vs. Hans Nitschke (1-1, OVR 449) The only reason this did not end up a 1* match is because Nitschke stopped the first attempt at the Johannesburg Express before it even got started. Clay dominated the first half of the match, and if he had gotten the moonsault off it would have been a total squash. However, over the next five minutes Nitschke would rack up enough offense to make it look competitive. It wouldn’t be enough, though, as Clay eventually kept Herr Doktor down long enough to hit his finisher and improve to 2-1 on the season. Markus Clay (2-1) def. Hans Nitschke (1-2) via Pinfall (Johannesburg Express) in 15:50. Rating: ** Changes for Markus Clay: OVR + 4.30, XP + 487.60, no notable damage Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.90, moderate damage to head, minor damage to body Elyssa Anderson (1-1, OVR 469) vs. Blood River (2-0, OVR 476) If anyone thought Blood River wasn’t taking his third foray into RRW seriously, tonight may have proved them to be wrong. The opening half was even throughout, but as the match progressed River seemed like he was focused more than usual. An early Sacrifice set the table for Elyssa to be in trouble, though a follow-up spear only netted a one count. Only a minute or two later, Anderson was down and River was up top, maybe looking for Crimson Regret, when he noticed Anderson start to get up. In a spot of improvisation, River leapt off the top rope and hit his other finisher, one we’ve rarely seen in RRW—his top rope hurricanrana into a pinfall attempt he calls The Offering—and picked up the win in convincing fashion to remain undefeated on the young season. River is emerging as an early-season dark horse in the Black Division. Blood River (3-0) def. Elyssa Anderson (1-2) via Pinfall (The Offering) in 8:49. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 3.90, XP + 484.23, no notable damage Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.06, minor damage to head Hailey Carmichael (2-0, OVR 494) vs. Daniel Simmons (0-2, OVR 496) The struggles of Daniel Simmons continue this season, as in the course of almost nineteen minutes of action he had barely wore down Hailey to the point where he could attempt more than just basic blows and holds. It was instinct that led him to try to headbutt Carmichael not once but three separate times in the match, and the third finally was the catalyst that let Hailey put him down long enough to finally get #NoFilter applied. Hailey remains undefeated, while Simmons falls to 0-3 and in serious danger of losing control of his season before it even begins. Hailey Carmichael (3-0) def. Daniel Simmons (0-3) via Submission (#NoFilter) in 18:47. Rating: * Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 3.15, XP + 448.26, no notable damage Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR -0.96, XP + 112.07, moderate damage to head Jack Braddock (2-0, OVR 495) vs. Billy Norris (2-0, OVR 501) Due to the success both men have had, this is their third regular season matchup despite being in separate divisions. In this one, Norris simply could not string together any offense, while Braddock had no issue landing blows at will. The end came swiftly and decisively, with a roundhouse body blow setting up Norris for the Jack Attack and the inevitable pinfall afterwards. Jack Braddock (3-0) def. Billy Norris (2-1) via Pinfall (Jack Attack) in 8:59. Rating: * Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR + 2.76, XP + 443.95, no notable damage Changes for Billy Norris: OVR -0.84, XP + 110.99, minor damage to head The Siberian Nightmare (2-0, OVR 431) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (2-0, OVR 451) A bout that, if it had gone on maybe six minutes longer, would have been in contention for Match of the Night. Very close, very even back-and-forth contest between the two that could have gone either way at any point. Both men seemed to taunt the others into throwing their heaviest shots—a practice that went in Nightmare’s favor, obviously, given The Sickle—but Mahal used his catalogue of holds to keep Nightmare from ever building too much momentum. It was FMJ who tried the first finisher, only for Nightmare to break out of the Full Metal Jacket, and shortly thereafter land the aforementioned Sickle. It wasn’t long after that before Mahal fell victim to that leaping piledriver of Nightmare’s, and Nightmare continues to surprise folks on his return to RRW as he also moves to 3-0 on the season. The Siberian Nightmare (3-0) def. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (2-1) via Pinfall (Siberian Avalanche) in 18:07. Rating: ** Changes for The Siberian Nightmare: OVR + 4.43, XP + 488.70, minor damage to head Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.17, no notable damage Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-1, OVR 417) vs. El Tornado (0-2, OVR 457) This one didn’t seem to flow well despite being a little competitive. Ouilette was busted open early, and his troubles just escalated from there as Tornado maintained control through the last half of the match to emerge with the victory in an otherwise dull contest. El Tornado (1-2) def. Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-2) via Pinfall (Tornado Splash) in 11:18. Rating: * Changes for El Tornado: OVR + 2.85, XP + 444.97, no notable damage Changes for Jean-Paul Ouilette: OVR -0.87, XP + 111.24, minor damage to head George Mastachas (0-2, OVR 431) vs. Pulsar (0-2, OVR 494) For one of the first times in recent memory, Pulsar showed glimpses of his lucha upbringing as he kept in constant motion throughout, hitting Mastachas from all sides in quick order. Several top rope moves and a springboard clothesline got thrown out by Pulsar, and while Mastachas attempted an Olympus Rises once, Pulsar shut it down with a vertical body press and kept up the pace. Eventually, Mastachas was too worn down from trying to keep up with Pulsar that the Zodiac Implosion was enough to finish the job. Pulsar (1-2) def. George Mastachas (0-3) via Pinfall (Zodiac Implosion) in 14:47. Rating: ** Changes for Pulsar: OVR + 4.24, XP + 487.10, minor damage to head Changes for George Mastachas: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.77, minor damage to head and body Angela Wassermann (0-2, OVR 418) vs. Sin (1-1, OVR 421) After becoming the first victim of Devil’s Delight last week, Wassermann needed this win badly and for the first six minutes, looked like she was not getting it, as Sin controlled early on. Wassermann eventually fought back, hit several superman punches, and after avoiding a Cast the Stone attempt locked in her cross arm breaker to get the submission victory and a slight bit of redemption after last week. Angela Wassermann (1-2) def. Sin (1-2) via Submission (Cross Arm Breaker) in 12:34. Rating: ** Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR + 4.11, XP + 486.03, minor damage to head Changes for Sin: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.51, minor damage to head Lance Heartilly (2-0, OVR 503) vs. Devil's Delight (1-1, OVR 400) TABLES MATCH Speaking of Delight, she finally got a taste of victory last week. Her reward? Just the two-time defending RRW champion in a Tables match. To her credit, she did block the first two attempts that Heartilly tried to put her through a table (a DDT and stump piledriver), and started to make a valiant comeback before Heartilly took her down and applied a Hellacious Leglock just for the pain and suffering of it. Only then did he put Delight through a table to end this in very quick fashion. Lance Heartilly (3-0) def. Devil's Delight (1-2) via Table Break (Stump Piledriver) in 7:21. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 3.82, XP + 483.53, minor damage to head Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR -0.07, XP + 120.88, minor damage to head Sven Ulafsson (1-1, OVR 446) vs. Diamond Steel (1-1, OVR 476) Another match that could realistically have been a Match of the Night contender, this was very close throughout, with each wrestler getting several attempts to end the match with their move of choice. It ended up being a war of attrition more than anything, though, as Ulafsson gassed himself out inside of twelve minutes and would eventually have no stamina left to avoid the fourth attempt at an All Out Blitz, and even less after that to kick out of the attempt. Diamond Steel (2-1) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-2) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 22:20. Rating: ** Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 4.67, XP + 490.72, minor damage to head and body Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.68, moderate damage to head Indigo Rose (0-2, OVR 441) vs. Erick Gibson (0-2, OVR 415) Tess Bradenbury: It’s been a good night of action so far, and coming up next— Johnny Tyler: Bathroom break! Tess Bradenbury: Johnny! Johnny Tyler: What? I’m just saying what everyone at home is thinking. Neither of these two have a win on the season, neither looked competitive in their RRW careers so far, so where’s the lie, Tess? Tess Bradenbury: …to Johnny’s point, I must begrudgingly admit, Indigo Rose comes in tonight with a career RRW record of 11-23. Erick Gibson is 4-14 on a season-plus of work. Johnny Tyler: So, yeah! Bathroom break, come back in fifteen folks! Tess Bradenbury: You’re staying right the hell here, Johnny, as this match has gotten underway! Johnny Tyler: Aw, drat it all! quote:(00:14) Rose applied a Side Headlock Tess Bradenbury: Gibson has been in control for a fair bit of the match so far, Johnny. Is this the match where he finally gets some momentum to justify coming back to RRW after needing to deal with some corporate issues? Johnny Tyler: I don’t see either person winning, to be honest. Spontaneous combustion and a double forfeit is my official guess. Tess Bradenbury: Sometimes I wonder why I even try with you. quote:(05:21) Rose applied a Rear Chinlock Tess Bradenbury: Gibson hits that side Russian legsweep, and Rose is in deep, deep trouble here! Johnny Tyler: You mean they may be done before everyone gets back from their bathroom breaks?! Tess Bradenbury: Johnny, it doesn’t take fifteen minutes to use the restroom. Johnny Tyler: Sure it does! Haven’t you ever been in a long line needing to go? Tess Bradenbury: …. quote:(08:37) Gibson hit a Stomp To Groin Johnny Tyler: All right, I simply don’t get it, Tess. Why do these people like using that move and then just do nothing of importance after it? Just stand there and let their opponents recover? Tess Bradenbury: That’s something you’ll have to ask the wrestlers yourself, Johnny. I’m not about to pretend I know what their plans of attack are. Johnny Tyler: Some journalist you are. Tess Bradenbury: I never claimed to be one, unlike some others at this desk I could name…. quote:(12:20) Rose blocked a DDT Johnny Tyler: Finally! About time something interesting happened! Tess Bradenbury: I almost feel like Gibson aimed at the ref off the reversal on purpose there…. quote:(13:59) Rose grabbed Gibson off the ropes Johnny Tyler: Wait, what? Tess Bradenbury: She’d been waiting for the ref to recover before going for her finisher, Johnny! Brilliant planning by Rose, and she has Gibson trapped dead center of the ring! Johnny Tyler: I doubt planning had anything to do— Tess Bradenbury: And there’s the tap! Indigo Rose picks up her first win of the season, and now has her sights set on the current Green Division leader, Devil’s Delight! Johnny Tyler: Wait, what? Say that into my good ear, Tess, I thought I heard you say that Delight is a division leader. Tess Bradenbury: As of right now, she is! Johnny Tyler: Of all the hair-brained bullsh— Tess Bradenbury: Language! Johnny Tyler: Whatever. I’m just done. Let’s move to the next match already, can we? Indigo Rose (1-2) def. Erick Gibson (0-3) via Submission (Vite d’Indaco) in 16:32. Rating: *** Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR + 5.61, XP + 603.60, minor damage to head Changes for Erick Gibson: OVR + 0.78, XP + 207.15, minor damage to head This was the Match of the Night (2 [1 this season] for Indigo Rose, 1 [1 this season] for Erick Gibson) Otto von Schwarz (1-1, OVR 484) vs. Brandy McDonald (2-0, OVR 490) Despite the obvious size disadvantage, McDonald made this close. She tried to control Otto’s movement by controlling the head with numerous side headlocks and front facelocks, but the size and strength eventually proved too much for her. It took about eight minutes longer than he may have wanted, but Otto eventually put McDonald down for the pin after a hard-fought match. Otto von Schwarz (2-1) def. Brandy McDonald (2-1) via Pinfall (Gute Nacht) in 17:24. Rating: ** Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR + 4.39, XP + 488.35, minor damage to head Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.09, minor damage to head Yoshii Nakamatsu (0-2, OVR 495) vs. Reverend Johnny Gross (2-0, OVR 504) If ever Nakamatsu needed a huge win to shift his momentum, it was this week. Against one of the odds-on favorites to make it back to the RRW Championship match this season, Yoshii did not let himself get put into danger, avoiding one attempt at Kneel Before God before wearing down the right Reverend so that a Nakamatsu Driver could seal the deal. Yoshii gets his first win of the season against one of the tougher opponents he will face in the campaign. Yoshii Nakamatsu (1-2) def. Reverend Johnny Gross (2-1) via Pinfall (Nakamatsu Driver) in 12:36. Rating: ** Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 4.11, XP + 486.05, minor damage to head Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.51, minor damage to head Vladimir Chavinski (0-2, OVR 454) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-1, OVR 488) With everyone else in the Green Division losing this week, Abernathy had a chance to wrest the division lead away from Devil’s Delight. He didn’t count on Chavinski to show up with his A game and find a way to endure after gassing out in under 5 minutes. Abernathy hit his British Suplexes near the end and tried for Shatterfall, but Chavinshi broke the attempt, hit a hard roundhouse right hand to drop Abernathy, and immediately applied a rear naked choke that Abernathy just could not fight his way out of. Chavinski earns his first win of the season in a close bout, and for another week the improbable continues to happen atop the Green Division standings. Vladimir Chavinski (1-2) def. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-2) via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 17:02. Rating: ** Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR + 4.37, XP + 488.18, minor damage to head Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.04, moderate damage to head Mel O'Hallister (1-1, OVR 452) vs. Brian Blackfield (2-0, OVR 513) While this one was close throughout, something happened at the fourteen-minute mark that I want to specifically point out, and to do so I need to talk game mechanics for a bit. So let’s put kayfabe aside for a hot minute. O’Hallister was on offense, and landed an Implant DDT. With all of the variables calculated, the chance to win was 186 out of 1000. O’Hallister rolled a 7. By rights he should have won, but instead Blackfield kicked out at the last instant. Why? you may ask. Blackfield barely has a Spirit stat above the starting amount in RRW. That can’t affect things, can it? Correct. But his OVR can. At 500 overall, a wrestler cannot be beaten by a move that ends up with a less than 30% chance of winning a bout. A number of RRW wrestlers are at or already past that 500 threshold (including Blackfield at 513), so as this proceeds you’ll find fewer moves are available within the current movesets that will end a match prior to finishers being used. As the OVR continues to go up, that threshold will start getting higher, too. As for how the match actually ended, well… let’s go back to kayfabe, shall we? As Blackfield kicked out of the implant DDT, and O’Hallister argued with the ref, Mel eventually just decided “to hell with it” and proceeded to punch a rising Blackfield square in the dick. There was no adrenaline rush coming off of that one, and it kept Blackfield down long enough for the pin. Mel O'Hallister (2-1) def. Brian Blackfield (2-1) via Pinfall (Low Blow) in 15:24. Rating: ** Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR + 4.27, XP + 487.39, minor damage to head Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR -0.08, XP + 121.85, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (0-2, OVR 466) vs. Sterling Silver (1-1, OVR 450) No lie, this should have ended nine minutes in. Silver had Nagata in the drop zone for her 450 splash, but instead allowed Nagata to stand up so she could attempt a middle rope dropkick (that he ended up avoiding). Nagata would spend the next ten minutes fighting back, eventually beginning his spamming of the Nagata Special (that only netted a two count once in six tries). Silver fought back, finally decided to go for her finisher…only for Shaft Sonnen to push her off the rope and then be sent to the back. A Nagata Lock 5 attempt would go for naught, and that was Eugene’s last chance at winning the match, as another six minutes later Silver would finally hit her 450 for the win in a match that went way, way too long. Yoshii Nakamatsu (1-2, OVR 499) vs. Elyssa Anderson (1-2, OVR 469) YELLOW DIVISION Tess Bradenbury: Good evening, everyone, and welcome back to Rowdy Ringsports Wrestling! Tess Bradenbury on the calls, alongside Johnny Tyler, and Johnny, looks like we’re starting off week four with a bang! Johnny Tyler: Given that these two were primarily responsible for how RRW took off in the beginning, thanks to Elyssa getting all bloodthirsty on Nakamatsu, it seems fitting that we open the show tonight with those two in action! Tess Bradenbury: This will be their fifth meeting in the regular season since both entered RRW. After that bloody first encounter, Yoshii has found his groove against Anderson; the series is split evenly at two wins apiece coming into tonight’s proceedings. This promise to be a good one, as the bell sounds and we are underway with our first match of the evening! quote:00:04) Nakamatsu hit a Kitozon Chop Tess Bradenbury: Hard to tell who has an advantage at this early point, Johnny. Johnny Tyler: If we scored on points, Elyssa would be leading but just barely. Nakamatsu’s making a comeback here but so far in the early going, Anderson’s had his number. quote:(04:48) Nakamatsu hit an Inverted Atomic Drop Johnny Tyler: I’m not sure that was smart on Anderson’s part there. A decent, even if illegal, finisher just got taken away from her with that! Tess Bradenbury: You condone it, Johnny? Johnny Tyler: I neither condone nor renounce it, Tess. I’m just speaking from the last two-plus seasons in RRW that I’ve seen! quote:(09:00) Anderson hit a Running Senton Johnny Tyler: How did Anderson recover so quickly from that running knee? Tess Bradenbury: I’m thinking he didn’t get as much of it as he’d have liked, Johnny, but without a replay handy that’s just a guess. The question now is “can she take advantage?” quote:(10:47) Anderson hit a Running Half Senton Tess Bradenbury: Oh, that one hit flush! Johnny Tyler: Nakamatsu needs to go for a cover, or a finisher, pronto, before he lets Anderson right back into this! quote:(13:35) Nakamatsu hit a Running Knee Drop Tess Bradenbury: Yoshii finally hits the finisher, here’s the cover…one…two…THREE! This one is over, and what a match to open week four on! Johnny Tyler: Back and forth, lots of well-timed counters, this could have gone either way but in the end, Nakamatsu takes the edge in the career series with one more still to come…next week! Tess Bradenbury: If that’s going to be anything like this one, Johnny, that’s going to be a treat to watch! Yoshii Nakamatsu (2-2) def. Elyssa Anderson (1-3) via Pinfall (Emperor’s Fall) in 14:23. Rating: *** Changes for Yoshii Nakamatsu: OVR + 5.45, XP + 602.48, minor damage to head and body Changes for Elyssa Anderson: OVR + 0.76, XP + 206.87, major damage to head This was the Match of the Night (1 [1 this season] for Yoshii Nakamatsu, 4 [1 this season] for Elyssa Anderson) Reverend Johnny Gross (2-1, OVR 504) vs. Hans Nitschke (1-2, OVR 449) BLACK DIVISION After a successful rookie season in RRW that saw him go 11-5, Nitschke has not been able to pick up from that this season so far. His woes continued here as Gross controlled the majority of the contest en route to a submission finisher, as Herr Doktor’s season threatens to fall into critical condition. Reverend Johnny Gross (3-1) def. Hans Nitschke (1-3) via Submission (Come to Jesus) in 10:02. Rating: * Changes for Reverend Johnny Gross: OVR + 2.80, XP + 444.41, no notable damage Changes for Hans Nitschke: OVR -0.85, XP + 111.10, minor damage to head Otto von Schwarz (2-1, OVR 488) vs. Hailey Carmichael (3-0, OVR 498) LAST ONE STANDING MATCH Despite an obvious size disadvantage, Hailey knew this match was no DQ, and so went to the patented, surefire way to keep a man down when all else fails: punching him in the dick. Otto may be over seven feet tall and 450 pounds, but even he’s vulnerable there. It only took one for Hailey to get the win, as Otto could only get to a knee by the time the ref got to ten. Hailey Carmichael (4-0) def. Otto von Schwarz (2-2) via Last One Standing (Low Blow) in 12:51. Rating: ** Changes for Hailey Carmichael: OVR + 4.13, XP + 486.17, no notable damage Changes for Otto von Schwarz: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.54, no notable damage Indigo Rose (1-2, OVR 447) vs. Devil's Delight (1-2, OVR 400) Before the season started, Maven Deltzer said that this was one of the weeks he expected Devil’s Delight to win, against a habitual underperformer in Indigo Rose. This match was close, and probably would have been Match of the Night contender if it had gone about four minutes longer. In the end, though, Deltzer would be proven right in his guess, to the chagrin of tryhards everywhere on Twitter, as she tapped out Rose with her reverse armbar to notch win number two on the season in a closely-fought contest. Devil's Delight (2-2) def. Indigo Rose (1-3) via Submission (Purgatory’s End) in 13:38. Rating: ** Changes for Devil's Delight: OVR + 4.17, XP + 486.54, minor damage to head Changes for Indigo Rose: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.64, minor damage to head El Tornado (1-2, OVR 459) vs. Sterling Silver (2-1, OVR 455) ORANGE DIVISION Silver came in to this match as the loser of the second-shortest match in all of RRW—a 6:38 loss in a tables match against Pulsar last season. She would leave tonight as the new record holder for fastest victory in RRW, and it wasn’t even close, as she hit a spear to put El Tornado down for the count in just over five minutes, cutting a minute and change off the old record held by Blood River. Sterling Silver (3-1) def. El Tornado (1-3) via Pinfall (Spear) in 5:12. Rating: * Changes for Sterling Silver: OVR + 2.61, XP + 442.29, no notable damage Changes for El Tornado: OVR -0.79, XP + 110.57, minor damage to head Daniel Simmons (0-3, OVR 495) vs. Lord Robert Abernathy (1-2, OVR 488) GREEN DIVISION Simmons did not get out of the starting blocks until about nine minutes in, and by then it was too little too late. Abernathy let Simmons have a hope for all of two minutes before locking in his STF for the submission victory in what would be essentially a squash. However, for another week, he would find himself looking up at Devil’s Delight in the Green Division standings, due to the victory time timebreaker Lord Robert Abernathy (2-2) def. Daniel Simmons (0-4) via Submission (God Save the Queen) in 12:23. Rating: * Changes for Lord Robert Abernathy: OVR + 2.90, XP + 445.45, minor damage to head Changes for Daniel Simmons: OVR -0.88, XP + 111.36, minor damage to head The Siberian Nightmare (3-0, OVR 436) vs. Angela Wassermann (1-2, OVR 422) A match that many thought should have been in contention for Match of the Night, the finisher attempts started roughly thirteen minutes in with Nightmare fighting off the cross arm breaker of Wassermann. A few minutes later, the first of several attempts at the Siberian Avalanche would go for naught. This would continue for the next ten or twelve minutes before Nightmare finally stunned Wassermann long enough to connect with the leaping piledriver, and move to a surprising 4-0 in his return season. The Siberian Nightmare (4-0) def. Angela Wassermann (1-3) via Pinfall (Siberian Avalanche) in 25:42. Rating: ** Changes for The Siberian Nightmare: OVR + 4.86, XP + 492.34, moderate damage to head Changes for Angela Wassermann: OVR -0.09, XP + 123.08, major damage to head, minor damage to body Jack Braddock (3-0, OVR 498) vs. Diamond Steel (2-1, OVR 480) PURPLE DIVISION This early-season bout would be for the Purple Division lead, as Braddock looked to move to a career 5-0 mark against Diamond Steel. Steel came in prepared this time, and kept mostly out of reach of Braddock’s strikes, or tried to control his movements with basic holds. Braddock, naturally, got his shots in when he could, and this went back and forth in the later third of the match. However, Steel’s strategy of keeping her distance would prove to be a successful one, as she avoided a Braddock thrust kick, went to the moves in the same motion, and cut Jack down with an All Out Blitz for the pinfall victory, and for the moment, the Purple Division lead. Diamond Steel (3-1) def. Jack Braddock (3-1) via Pinfall (All Out Blitz) in 17:25. Rating: ** Changes for Diamond Steel: OVR + 4.39, XP + 488.36, minor damage to head Changes for Jack Braddock: OVR -0.08, XP + 122.09, moderate damage to head Mel O'Hallister (2-1, OVR 456) vs. Lance Heartilly (3-0, OVR 507) In one corner, the two-time RRW Champion with a leg-based submission finisher. In the other, a man with a past history of right leg issues. You’d be forgiven to think this was a squash, but O’Hallister nearly had Heartilly in danger of eating a finisher—if one of his three attempts at the Irish Clover hadn’t been countered, it very well could have been Lance’s fate. Instead, Lance had to fight to get O’Hallister into the Hellacious Leglock, taking four attempts to do so but finally getting it secured for the submission victory in a very competitive but average bout. Lance Heartilly (4-0) def. Mel O'Hallister (2-2) via Submission (Hellacious Leglock) in 14:15. Rating: ** Changes for Lance Heartilly: OVR + 4.21, XP + 486.84, minor damage to head Changes for Mel O'Hallister: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.71, no notable damage Billy Norris (2-1, OVR 501) vs. Pulsar (1-2, OVR 498) ORANGE DIVISION TABLES MATCH A sprint of a match, this was your average fare that only had one somewhat memorable spot: Norris hitting a Boomerang DDT on the outside onto a steel chair. Otherwise, nothing much of interest happened until the end, when Norris propped a table up at the corner of the ringside area and then speared Pulsar through it for the win. Billy Norris (3-1) def. Pulsar (1-3) via Table Break (Spear) in 7:29. Rating: ** Changes for Billy Norris: OVR + 3.82, XP + 483.59, no notable damage Changes for Pulsar: OVR -0.07, XP + 120.90, minor damage to head Blood River (3-0, OVR 480) vs. Sin (1-2, OVR 421) BLACK DIVISION Nothing outstanding here, just a run-of-the-mil bout that was close, but decided by Sin missing a late Cast the Stone, and River not missing a Sacrifice that eventually set up Crimson Regret. River remains perfect on the season. Blood River (4-0) def. Sin (1-3) via Pinfall (Crimson Regret) in 14:19. Rating: ** Changes for Blood River: OVR + 4.21, XP + 486.87, minor damage to head Changes for Sin: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.72, minor damage to head Eugene Nagata (0-3, OVR 466) vs. George Mastachas (0-3, OVR 431) WHITE DIVISION A competitive bout, but one without a lot of flow to it and also one that ran about six minutes longer than it really should, which hurt its rating. Mastachas finally notches his first win of the season with Wrath of Zeus, while Nagata (who won the White Division last season) has yet to break into the win column four matches into the season. George Mastachas (1-3) def. Eugene Nagata (0-4) via Pinfall (Wrath of Zeus) in 21:11. Rating: * Changes for George Mastachas: OVR + 3.25, XP + 449.32, no notable damage Changes for Eugene Nagata: OVR -0.99, XP + 112.33, moderate damage to head Sven Ulafsson (1-2, OVR 446) vs. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (2-1, OVR 451) Yeah, so what I just wrote above for the last match? More of the same here, but three minutes longer. It took Mahal twenty-four minutes to finally get a Full Metal Jacket applied (after about six attempts) to earn the victory. Faarooq Mahal Jr. (3-1) def. Sven Ulafsson (1-3) via Submission (Full Metal Jacket) in 24:31. Rating: * Changes for Faarooq Mahal Jr.: OVR + 3.38, XP + 450.79, no notable damage Changes for Sven Ulafsson: OVR -1.03, XP + 112.70, minor damage to head and arms Brian Blackfield (2-1, OVR 513) vs. Markus Clay (2-1, OVR 494) YELLOW DIVISION After the dragging pace of the last two matches, the faster pace here was a welcome change of pace, as was a sudden end to it. It was a close match, but a single implant DDT would keep Clay down for the three, to the surprise of many, and Blackfield keeps his momentum going after the first quarter of the season. Brian Blackfield (3-1) def. Markus Clay (2-2) via Pinfall (Implant DDT) in 10:21. Rating: ** Changes for Brian Blackfield: OVR + 3.99, XP + 484.97, minor damage to head Changes for Markus Clay: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.24, minor damage to head Brandy McDonald (2-1, OVR 490) vs. Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-2, OVR 416) WHITE DIVISION Ouilette had a chance, when Cecile Corine interfered on his behalf nine minutes in and got kicked out of ringside for her efforts. McDonald quickly put an end to that chance with a Hang Over, and then spent the next four minutes making sure Ouilette would stay down after a finisher. Jean-Paul did try to make a match out of it but McDonald was just too much for him on this night. Brandy McDonald (3-1) def. Jean-Paul Ouilette (1-3) via Pinfall ( ) in 14:42. Rating: 2 Changes for Brandy McDonald: OVR + 4.23, XP + 487.06, no notable damage Changes for Jean-Paul Ouilette: OVR -0.07, XP + 103.50, major damage to head Vladimir Chavinski (1-2, OVR 458) vs. Erick Gibson (0-3, OVR 416) Our main event featured a couple of wrestlers dealing with some bad luck so far this season. Gibson has looked a bit lost in the ring since coming back, while Chavinski has his hands full in a tough Purple Division. This was actually Gibson’s best showing so far, keeping Chavinski on the defensive for a fair portion, but Vladimir eventually got tired of those shenanigans and finally got Gibson into a rear naked choke for the submission victory. Vladimir Chavinski (2-2) def. Erick Gibson (0-4) via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 14:28. Rating: ** Changes for Vladimir Chavinski: OVR + 4.22, XP + 486.94, minor damage to head Changes for Erick Gibson: OVR -0.07, XP + 121.74, moderate damage to head =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= SEASON THREE STANDINGS—AFTER WEEK 4 OF 16 RINGSPORTS CONFERENCE RED DIVISION 1. Show may be pushed back up to a week. Technical issues with the game database seem to be cropping up, like at least two movesets that were fine last week having apparently regressed to earlier versions that have “illegal” finishers (Running Corner Low Blow Kick, Double Arm DDT, Twisting Face Crusher) that were in before I trimmed them down at the start of the season. Had to restart the Johnny Gross and Markus Clay matches after they’d nearly run the entire course because these showed up. Plus the owner of my apartment building has some contractor coming in again to work on our ceiling, and unlike the last four times this was scheduled the guy actually just showed up and wants to start with a spot that’s close enough to the computer that I have to sit elsewhere and not have the machine running. So I may not be able to get everything fixed and run today, I’m committed to other projects tonight, and work may interfere with doing it during the week as they’re pushing to make everyone go back physically to the office full time at the start of June “but would like you to come in earlier to readjust to office life after 14 months of working from home.” So I may not get the chance to do it on the side during slow periods. Will keep you updated.
