also that's one thing I don't get about live-edge, since it's "natural" you get all sorts of weird angles, but doesn't that make it kind of awkward to eat at? you couldn't even slide things down the table because it might fall in the gap!

Arts & Crafts cottage, with enormous potential--once the home of a Voodoo priest skilled at divination & healing--is across from the St. Roch Cemetery, where countless people were cured & saved from death. The sum of the house number is 13, the number of the Death Card in Tarot, which (when reversed) means "escape from death." The Voodoo Loa Baron Samedi, a powerful healing force, is believed to inhabit the cemetery, and his followers leave offerings of rum and tobacco on the sidewalk in front.

I think shotguns are col but good god this is the worst floorplan. Best option to fix it might be to put the kitchen where the living room is now so that the dining room isn't on the other side of the dang house, make the front bedroom the new living room, make the current kitchen a bedroom, and then put in a hallway so you don't have to pass through the bedrooms to get to the bathroom.

I clicked on one Danish Design link in this thread last week and youtube keeps serving me ads for it. Are people really paying three thousand bucks for a single chair? Five hundred is the upper limit I'd feel comfortable paying, and that better be the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in, with a design I love and sturdy enough to last decades.

Yes. Yes, they do. I've seen people pay five digits for a single normal-sized dining table. Main seating gets ridiculous too.

Depends on the type of chair. For side chairs I agree. But a REALLY high quality armchair will be 2-3k easily. Obviously something that is well known will increase the price.

Carl Hansen is a great example. Absolutely immaculate construction. I've chillaxed in this chair and it's great.

edit: even if you look at room and board, which doesn't have the famous name recognition but is known to be high quality, pretty much all the armchairs are well above 500.

And not just pass through bedrooms, but diagonally through one of them.

Kitchens are always at the back of shotgun houses though for logical reasons - plumbing and whatnot, so there's real easy fix - front half has to be living and sleeping, back half is 'business'.

I think the plumbing location in prohibition/depression era America could have influenced the location of the kitchen and bathroom.

I've seen a lot of renovated shotguns with open concept kitchen/living areas in front though. Sure it would require moving the plumbing but there's no other option to make this an actually liveable 2-bedroom house.

Rookwood Pottery is an American ceramics company that was founded in 1880 and closed in 1967, before being revived in 2004. It was initially located in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has now returned there. In its heyday from about 1890 to the 1929 Crash, it was an important manufacturer, mostly of decorative American art pottery made in several fashionable styles and types of pieces.

quote:

In 1902, Rookwood began producing architectural pottery. Under the direction of William Watts Taylor, this division rapidly gained[ national and international acclaim.[11] Many flat pieces were used around fireplaces in homes in Cincinnati and surrounding areas, while custom installations found their places in grand homes, hotels, and public spaces. Original Rookwood-installed tiles can be viewed in Carew Tower, Union Terminal and Dixie Terminal in Cincinnati,[12] as well as the Rathskeller Room at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky. In New York City, the Vanderbilt Hotel, Grand Central Station, Lord & Taylor, and several subway stops feature Rookwood tiles. "One of the most important Rookwood tile installations in the country"[13] is on display at the Carnegie West Branch of Cleveland Public Library and depicts Durham Cathedral in England.

The original T-86 was called "The Round", which is what this abortion is going by. There were references to two models coming out, but it looks like they took the original "new" design, made it bigger and forgot about the classic design.

It's been over a year, so I'm guessing that the classic was "committee'd" to death by a bunch of boomers who are saying "millennials want it to look like their iphones. . . do that!" When in reality we want to do 90% of the work from our phone, and only interact with the physical unit when checking the temperature or doing a quick adjustment.
