No, I just lived in the South for 15 years and knew a bunch of rednecks that would kill armadillos while out hunting anything that moved, so it inevitably turned up on a grill at some point at a party I was drinking at.

I totally get that hitting a wire with the rotors is a bad thing, but within a second of that happening the pilot's door and the entire tail assembly just decide to yeet themselves off the airframe and into the wild blue yonder. They realised that they were on a helicopter got as far away as possible.

It takes 3-20 years to show up and you get 6-12 months of antibiotics which will gently caress up your gut for who knows how long. I think I'll just avoid them, thanks.

It’s true that the majority of people are immune to leprosy. I’m still not going to gently caress around and find out if I am.

Platystemon posted:It’s true that the majority of people are immune to leprosy. Well, it's not like it was every day eatin' for me. It was something you'd find on a grill at a place owned by a guy with 2 first names with a pepsi machine full of bud light. It was always at some bigger redneck to-do where the other options were things like squirrel, rabbit, chicken slaughtered that day, venison from a deer shot out of season, a gator tail brought up from Florida, every kind of fish from the pond, and a few dozen people eating all of it while drinking lovely beer. I don't think I knew about the leprosy link until after I had been to a few of those and tried everything. I've never put a lot of worry into my health, smoke like a chimney, eat junk, yet somehow I'm in better shape than the rest of my family, and the only one not diabetic (2 type 1s, 2 type 2s, and me). It's gonna catch up someday and take me out before the adult diaper days, but I enjoy the irony of my lab numbers coming back normal while I just dive head first into bad ideas.

https://www.theregister.com/2021/06/11/the_eigiau_dam_disaster/ "The disaster had one benefit. The Dolgarrog flood and the failure of the Skelmorlie dam in Scotland, which had killed five earlier that same year, provided the impetus for the 1930 Reservoirs (Safety Provisions) Act, which laid down such basic rules as the requirement that a qualified civil engineer must supervise the construction of any large dam and that any dam holding back more than 22.7 million litres of water should be subjected to a thorough inspection once every 10 years by an expert in dam design. The sacrifice at Dolgarrog may have saved lives elsewhere." I'd like to take the walking tour.
