Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise, what is, it wouldn't be and what it wouldn't be, it would, you see. This is entirely bonkers but I'll tell you a secret, all the best houses are. Sunken conversations rise to incredible heights. Tables that clearly show the wonders of the deep. Waterfalls and rooftop gardens. Outside/inside and angles of peculiar destinations. Mirrors that reflect upside down. Bridges that lead to spaces with no faces. Closed windows with light from unexpected places. Somethings real, somethings created - all things coming together to form an unexpected adventure through the mind of a visionary man. This could be your dream and you could decide where it goes from here. Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.

An interesting exercise is to focus on easiest element to remove to fix the design of the room, and instead ask yourself how would you change the rest of the room to match it. Occasionally there is no good answer, but having an eye for design is being able to distinguish when that is.

I picked out couch fabric the other day and wow there are a lot of choices out there. Most of them were not great at our budget- I’m kind of glad we didn’t really have access to the higher end store that had a big range of neat prints. I’m happy with what I picked, but it’s interesting feeling the tension between what our specific space (old house, weird layout) and life (lol little kids and pets) needs versus the options out there. Now to wait half a year for new seating.

I found an incredible treasure trove of thousands upon thousands photos and magazine/catalog scans of mid-century modern houses. Throwing the link into the OP, it's https://www.flickr.com/photos/midcentarc/albums Apparently carpeted bathrooms started in the 60s. that warmth is from all the mold happily growing in those textured surfaces. it's a sunken bath with a shower that has no rim, surrounded by carpet oh god is that a carpeted kitchen
