I didn't realize how tired my brain was after 7 months of 10-15 sessions a week, and I guess my body was tired too. Please check the antifungal's directions-for-use and continue treating the affected regions until you complete the recommended treatment duration, which tends to be somewhere in the range of 2 to 4 weeks. Ringworm loves to look "all better" after about a week of OTC treatment, lulling you into a false sense of security/victory, while still being ready to roar back a week or two later. Don't be fooled!! Also sorry about the MRSA, that sounds scarier

Don't be fooled!! I got prescription fungal topical, though I'm not sure it's much better, they just gave it to me when they were trying to deal with the mrsa. The topical says 7 days or go back to the doctor I think. Eitherway, I'm taking this week off the mats too. butros posted:Jeez. I’m wiped out having scaled up to 5-6 per week for the past month. Can’t imagine doubling or tripling up and how zonked I’d be. Your body adjusts really well after about a month of slowly scaling up, and being nice to yourself in recovery. The brain imo takes longer to adjust to the volume. After a lot of sessions, I find I can't take in a lot of stimulus.

Yeah the recovery is where I'm really falling short - I've only got the option to do night classes and so get to bed at 11pm, and I've got a three year old that wakes up between 5:30 and 6AM so am only getting about 6-7 hours of sleep on nights I train, which I try to make up for by going to bed around 9PM on nights I don't train. I'm also trying to drop the covid weight so am trying to eat at a deficit which doesn't help. Got about 10 more pounds to drop to get to my pre-covid weight, and then I'll start adding in another 200 calories per day. Thankfully I'm at about max volume of what I can train just due to lack of options so trying to focus on making it through the end of August or so when my weight will be closer to where I want it to be and I can start to eat a bit more.

I popped my LCL today trying to climb onto somebody's back. I don't think it's completely torn but I felt the pop and there's definitely an injury there. Anyone dealt with this? What am I looking at for recovery? I've torn my MCL a couple times and although they healed on their own they took loving FOREVER.

I've popped my LCL a bunch in the last few months doing random poo poo. I basically can't play butterfly guard now. I suggest going to a PT and following their suggestions. I've been training around it doing mainly half guard and closed guard and passing but it sucks cus you think you're ok then it'll pop out of nowhere and set you back again. Fortunately I don't think LCL is bad as MCL.

I've popped my lcl, I can't play butterfly on that side without repopping it. Sometimes I make the decision to play on that side but I've never really regretted it. It like sucks, but it's not worse than some of my other injuries. Like I have a herniated disk in my neck, and it's just on willpower alone that I ignore the pain. My training partner also has a bad lcl, he's like 45 I think, and he just trains right through it, it sometimes hurts him and he'll quickly take the pressure off of it but keep going.

What things do you do to help it? Mine is so bad I can’t straighten my arm, and when someone did a quick shotgun armbar from top side control I actually yelled in pain

There's not a lot you can do. RICE it, tap when someone gets a grip that could lead to a submission, take some anti-inflammatories like naproxen or ibuprophen here and there. I have been massaging the tricep connection in the elbow some.

Now this has no science backing it up - but voodoo flossing fixed it within a week when nothing else would: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZG_9O_mAgM. I didn't buy the voodoo floss bands I just used some heavy exercise bands I had lying around. Obv. be careful doing it because you won't want to restrict circulation for too long and you should prob see a doctor if the pain is that bad.

I've had good experience using elbow/arm sleeves when I've gotten tennis/golf elbows, it might be placebo but it works so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Whenever I get tennis/golfers elbow, I hit it with the voodoo floss and it’s gone almost instantly. A guy I work with also had a case of it and he let me floss his elbow and was amazed that it was gone right away, he didn’t think it would work. I don’t know the science behind it but it always works for me.

Hah! My first guess is the exact split of the DDS. Craig/Nicky/Nicky/Ethan starting a gym (equally owned) vs John/Garry/Gordon starting another gym (not equally owned).

I would love to be instructed by Gordon, but I would rather train with Craig, he just seems so fun.

For a sport (gymnastics) where serious bodily injury could happen if the mind is not in the right state, I would think that Gordon might realize that and take it into consideration. But hey, we as a nation are becoming "soft" right??

If I were in the middle of a death-defying feat of gymnastics and got the twisties, I would simply tap out and thereby land unharmed (although gravity would then be declared the victor of our match)

I picked a great month to miss at the gym. Apparently there's now 3 people out with staph infections. I'm still stuck at home waiting on some more dental work to be finished before I could even think about going back. If I break this tooth again before they finish the restoration I'll have to get it extracted most likely
