if you have to work pretty hard to pop the seal, dont worry about it. Its more intended for normal breathing checks.

Thanks. And yeah, like I said, I get a negative seal just fine, and during normal breathing/operation I don't notice any air seeping that I can tell, and likewise my faceshield isn't fogging up. So I assume I'm safe in assuming it's me being understandably paranoid but getting a good seal. Thanks everyone. You're the best.

Strep Vote posted:That's cope, sorry. The black death went through several horrifying mutations during its last rampage through Europe, which lasted over 300 years. The asymptomatic spread is why we are hosed, those numbers out of China are horrifying. There's literally no pressure on it to become less deadly to evade detection because it already evades detection and spreads silently two days before the onset of symptoms, which are the usual signal to humans that something is wrong. It's already moved on before you know you're hit. jetz0r posted about it earlier, but Marek's disease is a good example of what can happen when a highly contagious virus encounters a vaccine that prevents serious illness, but does not neutralize the virus fast or well enough to stop infection & transmission.

Also like how does a normal person expect to just recover professionally from just taking a few months off? That's not how it would work, anywhere would see the gap in my work and tell me to gently caress off.

My son (14) got his first Pfizer shot today and I took my first Pfizer shot (already had J&J). Get home and get a call from the school district. Due to the rising COVID numbers, Simpson County School District will offer a virtual learning option until September 30th. You may contact your child's school to complete a Request for Virtual Learning form. Parent's will have until Wednesday, August 25th to complete and return the form. Thank You for your continued support during these difficult times. The safety and education of our student's will remain our top priority! Please contact your child's school for details. This school district started on 07/28. After the first week they shut down a elementary school. The next week they shut down a high school. This Monday when I picked my boy up, he said in one class there were only 5 people total including him, and one class had 15 people out. Good job MS.

Morbus posted:jetz0r posted about it earlier, but Marek's disease is a good example of what can happen when a highly contagious virus encounters a vaccine that prevents serious illness, but does not neutralize the virus fast or well enough to stop infection & transmission. I am not particularly learned about biology as I've often stated in the bad thread, so this may be my ignorance showing - but then wouldn't the real game changer here and the only real reliable method of getting this pandemic even remotely under something approximating control be - barring the miraculous invention of the most powerful vaccine ever imagined - to have a less-invasive-than-nasal-swab test that gives rapid results - 15 minutes or less - and which is reasonably accurate/tends towards false positives rather than false negatives. It seems the only realistic approach is aggressive testing, contact tracing, and isolation. Which, lol, we ain't ever gonna do, but it feels like then in light of the insane facts, our best hope is aggressive testing, and the best way of making that a reality is by having a form of testing most people can be subjected to regularly without them whining about it (too much).
