Goddamn, anything that gets cops off the streets and instead being call center agents might actually be good…? They can’t shoot dogs or arrest homeless ppl from behind the phone.

it really was a marvel of forward thinking to stubbornly refuse to deal with the pandemic in the height of summer, when the loneliness induced by a nationwide quarantine could be partially alleviated by nice weather and outdoor activities, and instead let it get so incredibly chaotically out of control that you're forced to deal with that eventuality when the weather gets cold and the landscape gets bleak. one reason we have a majority of major holidays in the winter is because winter sucks and you need fun things so that people don't kill themselves. the last peak took three months to recover from. anyway we're going to miss all the holidays again.

this is also why Christmas and New Year's are full of colorful decorations, as a change of pace from the monotony of endless white snow and gray skies

not that that's going to be a problem for much longer, heh

But yeah, seriously, about that mask thing. Like, I know the ideal is to keep the respirator on as long as possible and generally I never take it off unless I'm home or outdoors away from people (and in the latter case, that's just to adjust it if needed, or to put it back on after having left the doctor's as noted) but like, yeah. How bad is exposing the respirator to ~indoor air~ for the brief few moments it takes to place it in the bag. Like is it better to just wear a KN95 or something then at the doctor's (which I don't really get a good fit for)

It's probably better to wear a KN95 the entire time than to do some weird mask ballet

yea, like compassion and all, because everyone here obviously did their parts to isolate, wear masks, take vaxx as an act of compassion

nobody spread misinfo or caused more suffering, and they inflict it on themselves despite all efforts

people are always going to be belligerent and lovely, because it stems from desire which is the foundation of all suffering. Trump really got them to bring out their animality, in the lower stages of hell and indulge in an american samsara of which we see converge so chaotically. Fear is part of that since it's tangentially tied to desire as they want their freedom, whatever that means. It's an entitlement race to the bottom and they're spiraling down the american samsara carnage, never breaking free.

It's just um, horse paste probably the stupidest way to go if you wanted to go in a blaze of defiant freedom glory but at least it's not some Y'all Qaida conscript having a meltdown in a shopping center and rampaging. (yet)

liberal denial is part of the big problem. Joe wanted to force an america is back narrative so badly so that he didn't have to follow the overwhelming mandate for universal healthcare (in his loving party no less) among other issues with the caveat that 120 days~! need time! despite bragging about how he was going to accomplish things in the first 100

number will be lower for a while since louisiana is probably not gonna report much of anything for a while. I assume the hurricane has already resulted in an absolute poo poo load of deaths, but it will be a while before we hear about them, hell who knows how long they can keep them out of the statistics.

The east wall of the hurricane passed directly over my parents' house, where they stayed the whole time. Their house is raised like 20 feet off the ground and they said the wind was really scary. It's flooded pretty bad there, with water up to their mailbox. Good thing the government paid to raise their house! But because of this, new orleans and jefferson parish(where my parents are) will be without power for like 2 whole months, apparently. There are many areas like this. This all seems like a really bad environment to be having a plague in!
