Yelled at a staffer and has been under intense scrutiny since the allegations of heavy drinking and sexual harassment in the cabinet offices broke the other week.

I'd argue that being a public representative disqualifies you from being able to shrug off drinking heavily in the workplace while locking your office door and requiring a password to enter and taking photos of yourself using an iPad resting on two coasters on top of a cooler beside your stash of booze on the floor, but then again I'm not an Alberta voter they also elected Kenney.

There should be a process where somebody can say "Your illness is impacting the quality of your work to an unacceptable degree. We need you to take the time necessary to get better."
That should be compassionate enough.

Generally that would take the form of a performance improvement plan and short-term disability or a sabbatical as needed. I have no idea what the formal process for that would be when the person in question is an elected official though. So far it appears to be "force them to resign".

Is there any evidence that Dreeshen is an actual addict, rather than someone who drinks at work because it's fun and encouraged (even now, Kenney says members can drink socially at work, provided they are "mature about it") and he's a white man who's unfamiliar with the consequences of his own actions?

They are *all* drinking at work on a regular basis; remember Kenney's budget whiskey from earlier this year -- which was being consumed at the thing we were assured was a business meeting, because private gatherings were verboten?

It's pretty clear to me that Dreeshen resigned as a sacrificial lamb to try and bury the allegations of harassment and drunken behavior in the cabinet. Kenney's approach to accusations of systemic problems levied against him is to find someone to blame, push them in front of a bus and then pretend like that solves everything. It's just like him shuffling Shandro and Copping last month because Shandro was so publicly toxic on Healthcare in the province. Jason Copping doesn't have the nurses union out for his head, therefore he's the perfect health minister.

In what way is that odd?

I mean, they're terrible, but not odd for a Facebook executive. The leaks over the past year or so have painted a picture of Facebook bending over backwards to give right-wing ideologues free reign on the platform, very intentionally.

I guess it’s odd to me to see them publicly say these things and not see anything wrong with it. You’d think with all the leaks they’d have their PR people wanting to pre-screen social media posts from their personal accounts or accounts that are known to be linked to them.

You know the hole they dug that led them to re-brand as Meta? No one has learned anything.

These are the things they believe, they're just normal folks, and they don't have anyone holding their reins because they don't see any reason for someone to do that.

Insect-based bars already exist, particularly crickets, and there's nothing wrong with them if that's your jam.
Canada produces the most power per capita in the world and is 6th in raw numbers, so shortages?
And then communism scare-mongering. Honestly just embarrassing.

Maybe he thinks we'll have all switched over to cryptocurrency, so all of the power in the world has to go to keeping the economy running. But at that point, I don't know why we wouldn't have added in nuclear plants to help generate power (and so he should also be warning about the mutants and radzombies outside of the city fortifications and to always make sure your mobile battletruck is well armed and armored, and fully fueled with diesel so you can roll coal at a moments notice to act as a smoke bomb). Did I do that bullshit hypotheticals right?
