They hit a Turkish ship earlier right? Good luck using the Black Sea ports now. Also Russian media is saying they’re stopping Ukraine from getting WMDs lol Seriously this like speedrunning every dumb GWOT move we did but like in the span of hours at ten times the scale with a fraction of the economy and popular support

Yeah I don't get it, seems like killing sailors from neutral powers would further wreck your global standing and make sanctions more likely. And there seems to be no purpose to it, if they actually believed the ships were carrying supplies to Ukraine why not use your overwhelming naval superiority to board and search the ships? Protests about sailors being briefly detained would be nothing next to killing neutrals that have nothing to do with aiding your enemies.

Because it seems if it was 190,000 combat arms, Ukraine forces would be in for a much harder time than if it was 40-50K combat and the rest were transport/HQ/support

I'm trying to find one of the articles from before the invasion, but had a pretty good breakdown of what their force composition was. Edit: here we go https://www.economist.com/the-economist-explains/2022/01/31/how-big-is-russias-military-build-up-around-ukraine Economist estimates from before the invasion out the total number of BTGs at around 100. Each battalion tactical group has its own combat support attached. From Wikipedia: Each BTG has approximately 600-800 officers and soldiers, of whom roughly 200 are infantrymen, equipped with vehicles typically including roughly 10 tanks and 40 infantry fighting vehicles.: pp. 11-13 So of those 190,000 it's safe to say about 40% at most are actual trigger pullers. psydude fucked around with this message at 19:14 on Feb 25, 2022 |
