Your movement speed going to poo poo while firing is pretty annoying. 10 minutes til dawn is a big combination of things but also has a number of major flaws. There's a lot of "interesting" decisions to be made each moment ("do I stop firing to become more manoeuvrable?", "do I circle around to pick up xp?", "which enemies do I focus fire on?") but you're forced to make a lot of them and none of them are particularly pleasant to think about or make. It's all pressure, all tension, all the time but without the fluidity that makes those kind of experiences pleasurable. Vampire Survivors tends to have lulls in its action when you've figured out how to make a build and manages to be very satisfying because of that. It also commits the cardinal sin of there being no good crowd control options and taking damage being incredibly punishing.

Started with the new arcana that triggers gold fever off of picking up gold bags + makes gold heal you, then at level 11 picked up the one that causes healing to do damage to enemies in an AOE. It's like a build-your-own evolved garlic except it also synergizes extremely well with the actual evolved garlic. Finished the stage with over 40k gold (and I did not use the cats!) Used these arcana in a build tonight and finally beat the Bone Zone - picked Poppea, so song of mana default, garlic, whip, santa water, king bible and holy wand. Once I got going, I was near unstoppable. There's that one rough moment 18-ish or so minutes in with all the winged skeletons that hit like a truck, but they were somehow harder than the 2-minute pile on at the end.

Yeah DPS is pretty bad but the survivability is insane, I could stand in huge crowds of enemies with my health not even getting a dent in it. I also like how it makes you keep moving to find more gold bags to keep gold fever up, because if you drop it for too long you're done

I didn’t want to bother with unlocking Death, but I did it last week. You can be semi-AFK if your setup looks good after 3ish minutes, but I did have a chest interrupt my idling a few times.
