Kimd of. It has goofy moments and goofy characters but doesnt ingratiate them to you on the level of helck for the incredible misery they face to stick. The art can get indecipherable sometimes.

It is a very bad place the world is in and they are staying close because they see each other as requirements and not friends. It is not to say there are moments that are funny as hell (the reason why a certain girl falls in love if you are that far) I cannot even call it shonen in a way. Ragna has everything he needs in the beginning and it is mainly Crimson trying to figure out how to apply those skills correctly. I still maintain that part of what makes Ragna Crimson hard to read is if you read it in single page format. I own a couple of the volumes and otherwise read it on MD with 2-page mode and nothing ever comes across as hard to me. When I think of a series with indecipherable visuals and fights I think of actions scenes in Keyman or Zingnize, both by Warai Naku. Actually, I'd really recommend Keyman. Starts off with this story's equivalent to Superman meeting his biggest fan.    From there things get...weird and slightly horny Also, the main character is an orange T-rex.  This is plot relevant I assure you.
