Yes, that's right. An isometric 40k Rogue Trader RPG from a tried and true CRPG developer. I literally started hooting and hollering at my desk like a fool. So loving excited! Also go check out the Skulls Showcase. We got a lot of footage from announced games. They also announced another game that looks sweet as hell called Boltgun that is basically an old school doom clone where you're rippin' and tearin' as a space marine. gently caress yeah so excited.

Lieutenant as a marine rank is actually something Rowboat brought back as part of his reforms along with the other primaris stuff.

tbh It was kind of weird that Titus was a captain in the first game, captains have an entire company at their disposal and usually don't tool around with just two other guys, it would make way more sense if he was just a squad sergeant

Pretty much every Russian developer I know of moved to Western Europe at some point in the last 20 years.

Edit: I had paid absolutely no attention to the primarch novel series up until just now. Which of them have the least bolter porn and the most political intrigue or deep emotional pathos? Or scenes of the primarchs' childhood or early adulthood, because many of them seem to be set after the Emperor contacted them.

Omegon does, but Alpharius thought he could double duty burning his Terran intel assets along with making a fight look good with Dorn while he told him what was going on, which ended how you would expect when Dorn ignored him and killed him.

Or that was just a veteran legionnaire in disguise. Probably not though.

Been a fan of him ever since Borderlands. 2 has one of the best soundtracks ever. I do think Vermintide 1 has better music than 2 because The Skaven Come Out to Play is pretty much the perfect song for them.

i mean, you can't trust any internal perspective from an alpha legionnaire, but it seemed like they can use pskyers to transfer the consciousness of Alpharius or whomever into different bodies. i dunno if it's relevant, maybe Dorn killed the body that alpharius was occupying so hard it killed the resident consciousness.

Can anyone recommend any books, stories, or audio dramas that are set during the Unification Wars or Solar reclamation and even early Great Crusade? Warhammer Post Emperor appearing and Pre Hersey, is a really an interesting period of the lore for me.

I liked it quite a bit but that book really should have just been titled Birth of the Imperium. Valdor's just one of the main characters who happened to be present for the events therein rather than the focus of the novel. It is a good overview of the time when the Unification of Terra was transitioning to the Imperium's Great Crusade.

Yeah, I was surprised just how much of the book is that so far. Finding out about the nuke plants they use and just other little details of how things are and work is just so cool for me. The Early Imperium is such a different beast from even Great Crusade era Imperium.

It would be smart to crosspost this here instead of the mini painting thread.

Does anyone have any favorite Word Bearers art? I'm going to be adding a significant amount of bling to a custom Bearer of the Word, and I'd really like to lean into the greenstuff work. As such I need source material.

Also, does anyone know specifically what the Colchis/Colchisian aesthetic is based on?

I know it's based on the sector where FFG's RT game is placed but no idea if they're using those rules of Cubicle 7's Wrath & Glory instead.
Because the latter is a bit less rocket tag and does have far better support for a lot of the character that has been mentioned.

Even more so than Deathwatch because most players will not have any kind of Unnatural Toughness.

Also, finished Lords of Silence. Very different from the ADB Chaos stuff, and thoroughly depressing -- as is appropriate. Really liked the Dantine stuff and kept rooting for him to break the sorcery and get a noble end or one last defiant hoorah. Definitely the most engaging and depressing part of the book

It was really neat to see such a wide swath of opinions in the same Warband. Also a co-worker dumped a metric ton of Audible credits in my lap, so next up is the Alpharius novel and then Master of Mankind. Very exciting stuff.

I liked Alpharius a lot, it did a good job of providing the Alpha Legion with some needed backstory without compromising their secretive character. I also like how likable Alpharius is while also showing his hubris and possible naivete especially when he leaves the planet where mobs are yelling "kill maim burn" and just thinks it's fine and nothing to worry about.

This thread had an interesting breakdown of it

Though I don't know if we've seen anything new that sheds any light. They're really resistant to actually exploring the Age of Strife, probably because at that point you lose literally everything iconic about 40k except like Orks
