So Ukraine asked for 3 MLRS trucks? Hopefully there's more than what they're saying so far.

Also wanna know about SAM/missile defense and aircraft. Ukraine only has so many S300s and can't make more. And we really need to sink the whole black fleet.

That seems to count everything promised on paper (the 40B) and not adjusted for gdp. Poland is 6 times smaller than Germany and the rest EE countries are really small and/or poor.

Aid sent as % of gdp would be a useful metric for ranking who is best at helping and who hates the russkies the most, but when it comes to the end result - Ukraine's defense - it's the absolute figures that count.

Yup. Especially as what Ukraine needs now is not some samples of anti-tank weapons, nor even lend lease, it essentially needs an entire war economy offshore. There is only one place that comes close to being able to do that.

I raised my eyebrows a bit at that as well, but it might be plausible. In the 1991 Gulf War about 10% of the ordinance dropped by the US Air Force was guided; 90% was not. Just 12 years later in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, those numbers had flipped. When I was in Iraq in 2003 the entire theatre had few than a dozen drones. When my squadron went back in 2005, basically every squadron/battalion in theatre had access to a Predator or similar. By 2009 we had enough drones in Iraq to provide 24/7/365 drone coverage for every squadron/battalion in theatre.

The point is that these capabilities can become pervasive much faster than we typically think. The publicly-available information on the number of Excaliber rounds and PGM kits for 155mm don't come close to 500K, though, so you're probably right to be skeptical of that particular metric in his post.

I think this is more of a framing issue.

For instance on the artillery claim. He mentions that Ukraine requested 10 battalions and the west has delivered 12.

As far as I know the US has delivered 90 artillery units whereas the twitter request from Mykhailo Podolyak was for 1000 units.

So it can both be true that the figures proposed in these summits are being met while other political figures outside these discussions can be demanding much more.

It makes sense in so much as nobody has a solid idea of exactly how much material is needed to win the war and even other Ukrainian figures are hesitant to comment on the Podolyak numbers, see this video.

I think its clear that the west is still providing support, the results of this support will take time to show impacts in the field, and everybody involved understands that more funding will be needed in the future.

Americans of middle class or higher get braces as teenagers if their teeth are at all crooked, and we generally get better dental care than Europeans if we have middle class jobs. Lots of people use whitening products also because smiling is culturally important to us.

For older people specifically, it may be that they have dentures or implants.

they've received (and fully trained crews for) 150+ pieces of artillery as of a week or two ago, which does come out to around that number of artillery battalions

I'm not familiar with artillery battalion sizes, but I don't think you have 1000 guns in 10 battalions.

I think the 10 battalions refers to some previously undisclosed request that they now overdelivered on. The 1000 guns is from a recent tweet from Podolyak.
