I ignore him when he prepositions me via reports. It got up to like 85 today and that was pretty bad, but I guess that's the price I pay for having the windows open for like two weeks straight. I got the new home theater couch today, so I'm happy. The new place is starting to be a little less empty. New job starts on Monday. Family has been visiting, so I've been a little more AFK than normal. Good times, though. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Especially that person who brought down Rodgers's network.

No seriously I meant Rodger, my new neighbor. He kept asking if I'd be his neighbor. Kinda weird, as we're already neighbors.

i am a moron posted:and how is anyone supposed to proposition you then? please advise Well I don't think any mod really enjoys seeing a new report. Except for the D&D mods, but they're sick fucks. So maybe not that way. CLAM DOWN posted:you people are absolute weirdo psychopaths for using farenheit temperatures. please join literally the entire world in the modern era. I'm very onboard with metric, as I assume anyone in this thread would be, but wish Celsius had a little more granularity. Can we just make it 0 to freeze and 200 to boil instead of 100? That seems better.

Customer service are the skills you want to focus on as a junior engineer. Don't worry about not being effective for a bit, it takes a while to get used to any environment. You'll be a lot better 6 months into a new place than on day one.

the only, and I mean THE ONLY, thing that's better about farenheit, is that 69 degrees is a legit potential every day temp. 69 celsius would mean I'm dead.

also completely as we all knew, it was a bad update lmao https://mobilesyrup.com/2022/07/09/rogers-ceo-outage-update-what-went-wrong quote:“We now believe we’ve narrowed the cause to a network system failure following a maintenance update in our core network, which caused some of our routers to malfunction early Friday morning,” Staffieri wrote. “We disconnected the specific equipment and redirected traffic, which allowed our network and services to come back online over time as we managed traffic volumes returning to normal levels.” always test your patches folks, lmao

My only interaction with Barracuda has been getting a demo of their firewalls when they were one of the few vendors listed as Azure Virtual WAN partners and then ending the meeting when the guy cracked out a Windows application to manage the box. They still phoned me quite a lot after that.

If you notice opportunities for improvement, or a better way to do a task, jot it down and keep it to yourself for a bit. No one wants the newbie to come in and start with "why are you doing that, you should be doing it this way". At least attempt to solve any technical questions yourself first, even if that attempt is just googling it. That way you can go to your team and say "Hey, I read our documentation and google but I couldn't figure out how to do X, can you help me?"
