The Night Comes for Us is an absolute banger from start to finish. The amount of over the top kills easily qualifies it as a slasher film, and makes for a great Halloween watch

Starks posted:I hated the Sadness so much and the positive reviews are bewildering to me, it’s a truly depraved movie. Can’t remember the last time I saw a movie that I regretted watching that much, maybe Ghostland. I can see your point about the gore overshadowing the point of the movie and for some the gore is the only thing they will take from the movie. Still for me it was the satire on subjects like toxic masculinity and COVID that made it work overall (I gave it 4 out of 5 on the 31 days watch thread). If was a straight up gore movie without that good chance I would have hated it. After saying all of that I am not sure I will go back to Dahmer. Episode 1 was great and I loved it, but I feel like I don't need to see anymore. Where the Sadness felt unreal given the gore and satire, Dahmer just feels too real (duh) for me to want to watch as a series. I am still debating it. nate fisher fucked around with this message at 14:57 on Oct 3, 2022 |

It's criminal that it didn't win best picture, and instead it went to Green Book, one of the worst best picture winners ever, right up there with Crash. The look Chadwick Boseman gave Michael B Jordan when they announced the winner is priceless.

The director is even a low-budget film-maker. What a shame.

How are the ads in the ad supported tier of HBO max? Are they only at the start of the episodes/movies or inserted throughout?

so it seems the reception was pretty mixed, how do goons feel about the new Munsters on Netflix by Rob Zombie? My husband and I are both big schlocky horror fans and loved it but I guess I can see how someone expecting just a clean reboot of the sitcom would be annoyed with how hard he leans into the comic book-y feel. Though I would question why they would be surprised by Rob Zombie going that route, but I guess not everyone is a fan who knows what to expect.

Rob Zombie Presents: the Munsters is very, very bad Dan Roebuck as Grandpa is amazing, but literally everything else is the worst. Jeff plays Herman as... just awful, and annoying. and for some reason, extremely gay-coded Rob Zombie's Wife acts as if she has autism and always sounds as if she's shaking, and also she constantly is twitching and poking at the air. it's really bad the writing is real bad too. i always thought of the original show as "Addams Family but not as good" and this movie makes the OG series look like the Addams Family movie. it's bad

As a fan of RZ, Munsters looks like crap but I hear it works as a family friendly extremely light horror/comedy. I might give it a whirl with my kiddo watching but if she's not into it I don't plan to watch it alone.

Sometimes it feels like everything is either a miniseries-length plot crammed into a movie, or a movie-length plot stretched out into 3+ seasons of television.

I had YouTube premium for a bit and then cancelled and my ads on YT are now just insane. I'm certain there's a "gently caress you for cancelling" level of ads you get. I'll watch something... It'll have ads... Then 30 seconds in ads will just jarringly start playing. No "ads in 3..2..1.." countdown. Just boom instant as playing.

Mike Flanagan's next series, The Midnight Club is on Netflix now. I've watched each of his other ones multiple times and had to search for it to find it which is weird. I'm a few episodes in and it's not as monologuey as his other stuff by far, but maybe it'll get there. Also not as creepy, but I'm enjoying it so far nonetheless. Plenty of fun 90s alt rock needle drops too. Glottis fucked around with this message at 02:49 on Oct 8, 2022 |

I love Hellraiser, even the bad ones are some of my favorites, but goddamn the new one is absolute pure gold, easily the best the series has been since the OG. I only knew Jamie Clayton from Sense8 so I truly had no idea how well she'd work as Pinhead but she was fantastic, so many great subtle body moves and all to go along with the high gore and shock stuff to genuinely make Pinhead horrifying. Really if you like horror and can handle gore it's a must see for your Halloween movie fun.
